Welcome Park’s Stormwater Runoff

Welcome Park is in the middle of a community that isn’t very active anymore. Therefore we as students are going to try to reshape it and revive it to make it as active as it ever has in years. Welcome Park has a very small creek and an unsecure retention pond. Children are accessible to it and can be dangerous. Why do we have a retention pond? It is all because of storm water runoff. The idea is to understand and create new ways to make these retention ponds and even creeks better and safer from storms that cause flooding.

Stormwater runoff is where heavy rain or melted snow washes out driveways at one time before the ground has enough time to soak it in. Because of how fast the water flows across the surface

There is now no doubt that the economy has moved to a higher growth plane, with growth in GDP at market prices exceeding 8 per cent in every year since 2003-04. Over the last five years there has been a sharp acceleration in the growth of per capita income, almost doubling to an average of 7.2 per cent per annum (2003-04 to 2007-08)...

Euro Disney

...Introduction The Walt Disney Company was originally founded in 1923; a company committed to providing quality and wholesome entertainment experiences to people of all ages. The company is known for the following four segments, which consist of Studio Entertainment, Parks and Resorts, Consumer Products and Media Networks. The Walt Disney Company consists of five (5) Disneyland and Disney Park Resorts, in total. Two are located in the United States, one in Europe and two in Asia Pacific. The original Disneyland Resort was built in 1955, in Anaheim, California; followed by Disney World Resort, Lake Buena Vista, Florida in 1971. After the success of these two large theme parks in the United States, Disney decided to expand internationally. First Tokyo Disney Resort built in 1983, secondly, Disneyland Resort Paris (EuroDisney) which opened its doors in 1992, and thirdly, Hong Kong Disneyland, opening its doors in 2005. Case Study Questions 1. The factors that contributed to EuroDisney, now called Disneyland Resort Paris, poor performance during its first year of operation was the lack of knowledge of their target market, cultural differences between the USA and Europe, and the failure to take into account that “Paris is Europe’s most-popular city destination among tourist of all nationalities”. Disney did a bad job at understanding Europeans and their lifestyles. Unfortunately, for Disney the French were neither happy nor receptive to having what they called “America Cultural...

...March 26th, 2014 Congregation B’nai Israel Address: 2710 Park Avenue Bridgeport, CT 06604 Phone: 203-336-1858 Date: March 21st, 2014 Pre-Oneg 5:30p.m Kabbalat Shabbat 6:00p.m On Friday march 21st, my classmates and I went to go to a Jewish Ceremony. When we first arrived, James Prosnit, a very welcoming Rabbi met us and introduced us to this new and unfamiliar place. A Rabbi is similar to a priest in the Catholic Church; Rabbi’s are teachers of the Jewish religion whereas priests teach and preach about the Catholic religion, so this was somewhat familiar to me. After meeting James Prosnit, we were given a tour of the sanctuary. After that we made our way to the pre service gathering, which we soon learned was called a Pre-oneg. When the tour guide said we were going into a Pre-Oneg, at first I did not know what to expect. I soon learned that a Pre-Oneg is a festive and casual gathering that precedes the Shabbat service. The tour guide said that this gathering gives people the opportunity to have a social connection with each other while enjoying food and beverages. We learned that usually only wines and cheeses are served at a Pre-Oneg, but sometimes there are other types of refreshments. In the Pre-Oneg we were greeted by a lot of people. They seemed very interested about what we do and why we were there, asking us questions like where we attend school and what our majors are. This made us feel even more welcome. Next, James Prosnit introduced a family of a boy who was...

However, I also think that they would be disappointed in the way we interpret our rights, and rapid degeneration of our natural resources. Out of all of our founding fathers, our early inventors such as Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson would be exceptionally happy in American’s ingenuity. Since World War II, the U.S. has led the world in research and development spending; As a result of this investment the United States has continued to lead the world in aerospace, the Internet, computer science, health care, engineering as well as many other industries (Smith). Our world is now interconnected with social media, so that any news can be shared in an instant, and just as fast as information is being shared, new technology is being improved. From radios, to T.V.’s, and movies we now have cell phones that you can do all of that on while texting your friend before coming late to dinner. Our technological advances have shaped everyday life for the modern day American. No longer do we have to purchase the paper to figure out what is going on in the bordering state a few days later. Now, we can read the news from anywhere in the world because of our iPads’ and Kindles’. Thomas Paine wrote in The Rights of Man "Made up as it is of people...

...№ 18 [Type text] : HEADLINES by Craig Halsall Dear all, Spring Holiday IGCSE & A Level Revision Programmes An important letter has been sent home with Year 10, 11, 12 and 13 pupils. Parents will also have received a copy of the letter via email and notification of the same via my official school Twitter feed, @CRHalsall. The letter explains an opportunity that we are considering offering to pupils taking IGCSE, AS or A2 examinations this summer. The importance of effective revision in helping pupils achieve their best possible grade is well documented. Effective revision can often make the difference and help pupils achieve higher grades. We also believe that pupils find it difficult to revise at home, which can be stressful for parents too. We are therefore considering offering an intensive revision programme during the last major school holiday before the summer exams. Full details of the programme are set out in the letter. There is also a link to an online survey that will take a maximum of two minutes to complete. The purpose of the survey is to understand the level of interest in the revision programme. A large number of pupils have expressed an interest in attending the programme, but it can only run should there be sufficient demand. Please complete the online survey by Monday 2nd February to express an interest in learning more about the intensive revision programme. Key Stage 1 Open Forum The Key Stage 1 Parents’ Open Forum...

Enchanted Kingdom Case Study

...I. Title of the Case Enchanted Kingdom: The Magic Lives On and On II. Executive Summary of the Case Enchanted Kingdom (EK) is the pioneer theme park in the country, boasting seven fantastic theme zones, and imported rides and attractions. Ideally, new rides and attractions should be added annually to maintain the charm and sustain the viability of the theme park. However, due precarious economic conditions prevailing in late 1997 onward, the company deferred its expansion plans. It has been almost four years since it last introduced a new major ride or attraction for the theme park. Against the Asian currency crisis backdrop, management must identify strategies to eliminate seasonal demands and boost its guest attendance and profitability. III. Background of the Case Enchanted Kingdom opened to the public on October 19. 1995. It was and still is the Philippines' first world class fixed and themed amusement attraction on a scale never before seen in the country. It had 16 rides and attractions most of which were unique to the Philippines during its introduction while the rest were in size and capacities that had never experienced in the country before. Locating these rides and attractions within seven meticulously themed zones interspersed with food and merchandise outlets and kiosks as well as various game stands also added to the “experience” in a totally “enchanting” environment, away from the day-to-day realities of life. In 1996, answering the...
