I’ve lived in this area all my life. When my parents moved from Nigeria to the United States, they chose to live in this area because of the lack of extreme weather and excellent higher-level education system provided in the area. ...Research Paper: Discipleship Because I became a Christian at an early age, there are many terms and ideas used in the church that I never pondered upon; I simply accepted them. For example, the term "disciple" I identify as one of Jesus' twelve closest followers, one of the paper characters placed on the felt board during Sunday school. Through my research, I have discovered that while accepting Christ through faith alone grants us salvation, to become a disciple of Christ, or practice discipleship, requires work and commitment from the believer. The word disciple, or the Greek word mathetes, is used over 220 times in the Gospels, but not once in the Epistles, those letters written right after Christ's resurrection ("A Church-speak, n. d.). As customary for the Greek usage of the word, mathetes refers to a student who has personal interaction with their teacher. This offers one explanation as to why the word disciple is not used in the Epistles. No one had direct contact with Jesus anymore because He had gone on to Heaven to be with God. Another explanation for the absence of the word in the Epistles is that the churches that these letters were directed to were aware of Jesus' teachings about discipleship. It is possible that the writer did not mention discipleship because it would have been redundant to do so (Haines, 1999). According to the lecture notes, a disciple is a "student" or a "pupil" and the act of discipleship is "advancing the cause of the kingdom". During...

...Article Citation: Mayhew, L., & Smith, D. (2014). Personal Care Savings Bonds: A New Way of Saving Towards Social Care in Later Life. Geneva Papers on Risk & Insurance, 39(4), 668-692. doi:http://dx.doi.org/10.1057/gpp.2014.30 Main Issue of Article: The article “Personal Care Savings Bonds: A New Way of Saving Towards Social Care in Later Life” is an interesting take on a new way to pay for your elderly care after retirement. “Social care” is what most people would associate with long-term care. Personal Care Savings Bonds (PCSBs) go about it in a whole different way. The general idea is to blend a traditional savings bond with the lottery. Combining the practical long-term, safe, savings of a bond with the instant gratification of winning a large cash prize. A very large expenditure of people at the end-stages of life is the cost of their care. These costs often destroy personal savings and drain the assets a person wants to leave to their families all while still costing the government (tax payers) billions of dollars per year. PCSBs would hope to encourage more saving by individuals by introducing a lottery aspect. As with any lottery, a person would buy as many “tickets” as they would like. If their number is chosen, they would win a large cash prize. How PCBSs differ is that the bulk of the money from the ticket would go towards a guaranteed bond. As people buy more and more tickets, the amount in their PCSB account would grow. The administrators...

...Presidential Center has its dedication today and SMU welcomes all former and current presidents that are still alive. An entire long preparation has been done in the previous week to this huge event. Including road jobs, to painting buildings to gardening flowers to a stunning set up for this even to succeed. The George W. Bush Library is full of millions of pages of official records documenting the two-term administration of his presidential carrier, as well as donated historical materials that document Bush's 2000 presidential campaign and his personal papers as Governor of Texas. In addition to these textual records, the Bush Library has an extensive audiovisual collection that include photographs and videotapes, as well as an extensive artifact collection containing presidential and gubernatorial domestic and foreign gifts. In the day of the dedication ceremony speeches from His wife and all five presidents were given all of them giving former president George Bush a word of appreciation, congratulations, and support for what he did fro this nation. In my opinion and talking as an SMU current student I feel very proud to be part of this community and to have the opportunity to experience such a big event. There are only few presidential centers in the country and for My school SMU to be selected to be one of the universities to have one of this big buildings that are meant to dedicate and honor a formers president of this nation opens my eyes on how good of a school this...

...To whomsoever it may concern: My name is XX and I am a second Year MBA graduate at the XX University having majored in Finance. I learnt of the latent opportunities in Risk Management (RM) at UBS (MS) through my exploration of the UBS careers webpages, ED at the company. Consequently, I want to express my aspiration to work as a “Risk Management Associate” at UBS where I am constantly presented with an array of intriguing projects ranging anywhere from risk reporting for UBS management to conducting credit risk analysis on counterparties to carrying out efficiency improvements on company protocols. I am interested in pursuing positions of such a nature and have made the case for my candidacy in the ensuing passages. I was until recently working with XXX, a micro-‐cap company listed on the NYSE where I had to communicate with fund managers, economists and executives from my firm and others on an hourly basis. Time was the most precious commodity for my firm’s stakeholders and consequently my communiqués had to be concise and my analyses-‐financial, statistical & qualitative –crisp. One of my responsibilities was to translate esoteric academic papers into recommendations composed in plain English to inform the CEO’s attempts at reducing XXX’s stocks illiquidity. I also spiritedly ...

...Saichaie 1 As my experience in graduate school at Ohio University turns the corner and heads for home, I find myself near the doorstep of my future. I will receive my master’s degree in Telecommunication Management with the plan to manage in the field, then pursue a doctorate in communications, and later instruct at the university level--but first things first. My initial desire is to go into the field. My choices, whether be radio, television, cable, or multimedia, grow as fast as the technology in this digital age we live in. To be a successful manager— and this is increasing in the telecommunications field—a proper understanding of how peoples’ attitudes and actions shape their behavior within the organization is a necessity. The following paper will highlight core aspects of organizational behavior, how they connect within the context of organizational behavior—touching on key matters—and how the information from the assessments might apply in my development toward a future career. Additionally, the paper will reflect and highlight the results of the Self-Assessment and how they connect with my experiences in daily life. The paper will follow the order of the assessments in relation to the chapters they pertain to. All quotations from Essentials of Organizational Behavior by Stephen P. Robbins, 7th edition, 2003, will be indicated throughout this paper unless otherwise noted. Many themes involve themselves with organizational behavior. In the context...

...Something needs to be done about the media, and all the violence that is promoted, and being viewed by our youth all over the world. The media has no regard for our youth, and the influence they have on them. In my opinion, it is all about the money, and the ratings. There is a bigger issue out there besides both of those things. Our youth is being exposed to so much violence; they are becoming immune to it. Today, it is the norm for them. All media is to blame, but in my opinion, electronic media is the biggest culprit. The youth of today are being consumed by all types of electronic devices. Violence is big business in the media. No matter if it is Facebook, YouTube, music on an IPod, internet radio, MySpace, or any other of the sites on the internet or electronic devices, violence is present in some way or another. There are youth out there in society that are committing heinous violent acts, just for the fun of it. What I want to know is when did violence become fun? Kids listen to gangster rap, and believe everything they hear. (Dawursk Jr 2007) In 1994, two teenagers that murdered a police officer from Milwaukee, stated, they did it “just for the fun of it”, because they were influenced by “2Pacalypes Now”, a song by @ Pac Shakur. Everywhere you look, there is a kid walking with some type of electronic device, with ear plugs on. (International Telecommunication Union) In 2008 61% of the world population uses cell phones, in 2000 only 12% used cell phones. The cell phones...
