...teams arriving to the game a day before; they arrived at the beginning of the week and held open practices that media was granted access too. The biggest boosts was the agreement reached by the league with the BBC to broadcast the game live, which would potentially add an additional 2 million viewers, which before the games could only be viewed on a British pay channel( only about 120,000 viewers). By just having the game overseas, it would allow new people to attend the games in which would allow the NFL slowly become global. 2. Discuss the major environmental challenges that the NFL has encountered and how they have addressed these. A major environment change was the NFL teams would be playing in a different country and in a new stadium they had not played in before. Each team is allowed to have practices before the upcoming games. Besides arriving early for practice, they also allow the media to interview the players. Another challenge they had to face was that NFL Europa had failed, so it would also look bad if the NFL International Series failed as...

...it costs too much. There are many different opinions that one could have. Some may want turf and some may not want it. Also some could be in between. When it comes to baseball or any sport in that matter, it is insanely hard to keep a grass field maintained, unless one puts tireless hours into maintaining it. If all fields had turf instead of grass it would cut down on water usage. Also, it will cut down on fertilizer use, which is a huge problem. When people use fertilizer, it then rains and the fertilizer is washed away into rivers and streams. This will affect many ecosystems and hurt many animals by using grass instead of turf. Turf will make fields able to drain easier and able for use in rainy conditions. In the Minnesota Vikings stadium...

...Mireille Tyadi Ksp 106 Essay: MSU Sporting Event Saturday September 28, 2013 took place the match which opposed Northern State vs. Minnesota State at Blakeslee Stadium. Generally I don’t like to watching sport, but that special da of homecoming where I am leaving (Summit and Jacob Heights) everybody was going out wearing purple, yellow clothes and going to the stadium to support, everybody was going so I hesitated long time then my friends came and pick me up I didn’t really have the choice, when I got there was so much animation that I didn’t regret why I went there. I found it very interesting to assist to this match, because I have not been disappointed. The stadium was full of people who came only for this event which made the atmosphere very funny because of the kind of clothes people wore, everyone was in a festive mood. When the match started, everyone began to call the name of their favorite players. I could not do it because it was my first time to watch an American match so I didn’t know the players. Minnesota State has been able to win the match with 42-14, with the win Minnesota improves 4-0 on the season, while NSU falls to 1-3. I really enjoyed this game. I think that next year I will go to assist to the homecoming football again. Being with my friends makes it funnier. I also went to the free carnival with my friends, and after went to the concert at night from 8 to 10pm. I love it, something new for me and very...

...analysis was Concessions Market Assessment, a brief overview of the current concessions market in sports stadiums. This article was published by the Sports Marketing Research Journal. The approach in this article was from an academic perspective. It broke down the industry under competitors and major suppliers. They estimate that game-day revenue from concessions, merchandise and parking valued 10.7 billion in the United States. The analysis was done on 122 major league facilities, including stadiums and arenas. It was interesting to see that a large majority of these facilities outsource their concession to third party, outside suppliers. Only 14 facilities handled concessions in-house. For those facilities that outsourced 41.5% of arenas and 28.3% of stadiums used Aramark as their food service company. Aramark has a strong lead, with the next closest company being Levy Restaurants. Levy holds 26.8% of arenas and comes closer to Aramark in stadiums, providing concessions for 25.4%. Also, of interest, this article noted the increase in scale of concessions at sports events. Many venues are now offering high class restaurants. This trend shows that people are looking forward to dining at sporting events, rather than avoiding stadium food. The addition of these upscale dining options also creates new opportunities for revenue. As opposed to pizza and nachos, stadiums can now offer high-end catering and event hosting. The one exception to this trend is Major League Baseball...

...1- What problems do you commonly see at sporting arenas or school events? Does your school allow for after-hours use by the public? Spectator aggression in sporting arenas or school events is among the challenges related to sports and school events that administrators are struggling to deal with. It is associated to issues of crowd management at different locations and levels. Fans-related hostility mostly occurs either within or outside stadiums and has made the perception of events by negative by mostly parents. Property destruction that involves the knocking down of sound systems, destroying the playing field, damaging the venue or other people’s property is among the problems experienced during events. In addition, verbal abuses and gesturing that include yelling chants, singing obscene songs, and signalling threats and improper motions are other challenges that are almost impossible to deal with during events. Throwing of missiles and other items such as food stuffs, drinks, bottles, and broken seats represent other troubles caused in sporting arenas. Furthermore, swarming is another issue where fans rush to the stage; crash gates to gain entry, and rush to the exit to the exit may result in death or injury from trampling. Our school has a strict policy that governs the use of institution properties for events. The policy allows only isolated fields to be used for sporting events by outsiders. Also, strict rules and regulations are imposed by the administration to the organizers...

...When creating a franchise I used Green Bay, Wisconsin as my reference city. When looking at the demographics of Green Bay, Wisconsin, they were similar and comparable to Rapid City, South Dakota. With all of the factors of demographics I believe that a football franchise will be able to thrive in Rapid City, South Dakota. When looking at a map of where football franchises are located, there are not very many in the Northwestern states. By providing a team around this area we can get customer loyalty to some of those states that don’t have a team. Although the population of Rapid City is slightly less than that of Green Bay you can have in mind that you are going to have loyal customers who will travel to come see the game. When comparing the male and female ratios between the two cities they are very alike. This is also comparable for the cultural and ethnic backgrounds. The majority of people are of white race and then there are small percentages with the other ethnic backgrounds. The ages of people in Green Bay were of majority to ages 19-64. This is the same for Rapid City. With this in mind we can use this age group as our target market. Children under 5 years of age probably wouldn’t enjoy the football game as much as older people would. Products and entertainment would all be geared towards people in the 19-64 age group. When looking at education and income they were pretty much the same. In Rapid City they have a higher percentage of high school graduates and bachelor...

...SPMT 304 Movie Paper The movie Kicking and Screaming is a family sports comedy starring Will Ferrell, and Phil Duvall. In this movie Will Ferrell plays the role of a soccer Dad (Phil Weston) who is an average father who runs his own vitamin store. Phil ends up stepping up to become coach of his sons soccer team after the coach quits and no other parents volunteer. As the movie progresses Phil’s coaching style undergoes a transformation from being centered on learning and having fun, to being solely focused on winning the championship. Although this movie initially appears to be nothing more than a rather pointless comedy, it actually touches on many issues and controversies going on today in sports. Through the parents actions, and the way the kids react to different styles of coaching, the issues of sports for children, and race and ethnicity in sport are clearly displayed throughout the movie. From the very start of this movie clearly displays parents, especially fathers who push their sons very aggressively to succeed in sports. In fact the opening line of this movie is Phil Weston stating: “I was born a baby, a blank slate. I thought I was in control of my own destiny, and then I met my dad.” Following the quote, a baby version of Phil is handed a mini soccer ball from his father (Buck) and he tells him “You better be good at this stuff.” Just from this opening scene the viewer can clearly see the pressure to succeed in sports placed upon children from their parents...

This differs based on various factors, but you know yourself better than anyone else. Not only should you know your limits, but just as important it’s critical to stop drinking beer when you’ve reached that point. 7. However, you could always try some other types of beverages to add some variety to your experience. 8. ...Overview Sporting events function based on actions on the field and the interactions among team members, referees, and the audience members. I refute the assumption that all the action at a game is on the field because the audience plays an interesting role; the actions of each crowd member adds into the overall interactions among the audience, and the audience’s interactions with players or referrers on the field. By examining the dynamic interactions among audience members, I have come to the conclusion that there are several themes that unify the crowd. Among audience members at a Flagler College men’s soccer games, the themes of age stratification, clothing, and language are evident; together these themes unify crowd members as they observe and interact with the ongoing game. Methodologies & Field Work I conducted participant observations of crowd dynamics at a Flagler College men’s soccer game (Angrosino 2005). I participated by sitting in the crowd, watching the game, clapping or cheering, and talking with nearby audience members. The game consisted of two innings, each was 45 minutes, plus 15 minutes for half time, which resulted in an hour and 45-minute participant observation. Approximately 150 audience members were present during the game; however, audience size varied temporally, since individuals either came late or left early. I made three quick snap shot claims of audience variables based on the actions or appearance of 32 crowd members, all of which were sitting...
