Westampton School Board Meeting
This reflective essay will discuss items addressed at the Westampton School Board meeting. It will examine the district practices and policies. The paper will analyze information that can be applied to teaching in the learning environment. Last, the essay will reflect on the experience and information supplied by the meeting.
On December 14, 2015 at 7pm., I attended a board meeting a Westampton Middle School in Westampton, New Jersey. The meeting took place in the media center (library). I arrived 15 minutes early for the meeting. The meeting agenda, pens, and notebook paper was on the table near the entrance of the library. There were plenty of sitting throughout the library for the public. There were about…show more content… Virginia Grossman, Superintendent presented the agenda with Mrs. Jennifer Murray?s assistance. Seventy-five percent of the meeting was about the PARCC grade level standards power point presentation. This test will be administered in March 2016. Apparently, grades 3 and 7th were lower in comparison to the national CCSS mathematics and language arts. Mrs. Daily addresses concerns about the PARCC testing preparation for March. Mrs. Grossman devises a plan to meet states standards for grade levels 3rd and 7th. She has research surrounding school district scores in comparison to Westampton. Mrs. Grossman develop new goals and to push better learning outcomes. After the power point representation of the PARCC percentage and scores the board moved to discuss other items on the agenda. Five key areas of district performance was discuss such as personnel, instruction and program, fiscal management, operation management, and governance. The New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum (QSAC) was in compliance with the NJDOE. The floor was open to the public for comments on the agenda only. The budget, personnel, substitute, maternity leave, fire/security drill, field trips, cafeteria reports, and building inspection were approved. After all finish business was discuss the floor was open for new business and public comment on non-agenda items only. Finally, the meeting ends with a goodbye to Mr. Dan Dole school board member.
