SGA Discusses the Future of Westminster in Bi-Weekly Meeting
Madison Ingram Student Government Association discussed the future of education, clubs and organizations, as well as goals and strategies to increase enrollment rates. SGA vice president, Barrett Houska, conducted the SGA meeting as president, Lydia Creech, was absent due to illness. Houska met with Westminster College president, Fletcher Lampkin, prior to the meeting held Monday, Jan. 29 in Marsh Dining Hall.
“President Lampkin will be holding bi-weekly meetings with a couple students at 2pm every other Monday,” stated Houska. In the first meeting held with Houska and Creech, President Lampkin confirmed his priority is retention. The school would like to focus on domestic diversity, primarily looking for students from the Midwest. Houska made it clear that …show more content…
Westminster staff and students are still getting in the swing of the new program. Flyers have been posted in the dining hall and JCI with information referring to the installation of the Canvas app available on all smartphones.
“Some faculty and staff have chose not to use Canvas. They are not required to have anything on Canvas right now,” commented Houska.
“Students have to have a syllabus, it does not have to be added to Canvas,” he added. Westminster will have an acapella group advised by Cindy Lampkin. All members of SGA voted in favor of the addition of the acapella group and seemed intrigued by the idea of the new club. The club already has more than 5 members and will be looking for others who have a passion for acapella. The club will be open to all students and more information about meetings will be released at a future date. Many students have filed complaints about wifi malfunctions and slow internet. The wifi is currently being redone which is a contributing factor to wifi problems. The conference preceded the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2010 Meetings and Summit (7-14 November in Yokohama, Japan) and coincided with the 10th anniversary of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, and the UN Year of Biodiversity. Given the birth of the G20 group of nations, the inexorable diffusion of economic power to the Asia Pacific region, and the rise of new organisational forms and business models, the conference was particularly timely and relevant. Speakers from various organisations took part in the conference, including: The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan; Unilever; Ernst and Young; The World Bank; The International Monetary Fund; Sompo...

...A, THE BRITISH ACADEMY SOMERSET HISTORICAL ESSAYS SOMERSET HISTORICAL ESSAYS By J. Armitage Robinson, D.D, Fellow of the British Academy Dean of Wells 1921 London: Published for the British Academy By Humphrey Milford, Oxford University Press Amen Corner, E.C. PRINTED IN ENGLAND AT THE OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS BY FREDERICK HALI, 76$ J 9 2/ PREFACE The writer of these pages makes no claim to be a historian, but he is concerned with the materials which go to the construction of true history. Occasionally he is led to revise the verdicts of historians on the ground of a renewed investigation of some isolated problem, or in the light of fuller information which has but lately become available. He hopes that he has done this with sufficient modesty. As a rule he has avoided direct controversy and has preferred a positive presentation of the revised position. He is well aware that when offered thus silently the corrections he desires to make are less likely to attract immediate attention than if he directly challenged fallacies which shelter under honoured names. But he writes from mere love of the subjects to which he has been drawn by the circumstances of his position and by local patriotism ; and he has experienced more than once the temporary blindness pro- duced by the dust of conflict. On the other hand he asks for criticism, ...

Singapore 09-10

...singapore airlines annual report 2009/2010 Singapore Airlines achieved a net profit attributable to equity holders of S$216 million for the financial year ended 31 March 2010. During the first half of the year, demand for air travel declined due to the global economic slowdown as well as the outbreak of Influenza A (H1N1). The Group recorded a net loss attributable to equity holders of S$466 million for the first half of the financial year. Despite the difficult times, the Airline did not lose sight of its commitment to delivering product and service innovation. Singapore Airlines continued to invest in its long-term future by flying its flagship aircraft, the Airbus A380, to more destinations, rolling out a cabin renewal programme for selected Boeing 777 aircraft, and opening a new service centre in the heart of Singapore’s premier shopping belt. Market conditions gradually improved in the second half of the financial year. Reflecting this, the Airline recorded higher passenger and cargo traffic. Together with the S$404 million net profit in the third quarter, the fourth quarter net profit of S$278 million reversed the S$466 million loss recorded in the first half of the financial year. The business outlook for the Group in FY 2010-2011 is encouraging, although the sustainability of the recovery depends on developments in the world economy and on business and consumer confidence. The Airline plans to increase capacity in a measured manner in the new financial year. This...

...research, making it also a valuable source for academics studying strategic alliances and the wide array of management issues they raise. Child, Faulkner, and Tallman have done a remarkable job of putting together in a highly consistent way all the knowledge available on what has become an essential facet of business development, namely Cooperative Strategy.’ Pierre Dussauge, Professor of Strategic Management, HEC – School of Management, Paris ‘I highly recommend this book for alliance scholars and practitioners. The breadth of coverage of the practical and theoretical literature on cooperative strategy is one of the book’s primary contributions. The authors demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter and the numerous case studies demonstrate a close connection with actual experience.’ Andrew Inkpen, J. Kenneth and Jeanette Seward Chair in Global Strategy, Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Management ‘Companies need to know not just how to compete with other firms, but how to cooperate with them. The proliferation of joint ventures, partnerships, and strategic alliances reflect the increasingly dispersed and networked structure of modern business organisation. This book is a manager’s guide to this significant trend. In particular it emphasizes the importance of not merely building co-operative structures...

Living History

...___________________________ LIVING HISTORY Hillary Rodham Clinton Simon & Schuster New York • London • Toronto • Sydney • Singapore To my parents, my husband, my daughter and all the good souls around the world whose inspiration, prayers, support and love blessed my heart and sustained me in the years of living history. AUTHOR’S NOTE In 1959, I wrote my autobiography for an assignment in sixth grade. In twenty-nine pages, most half-filled with earnest scrawl, I described my parents, brothers, pets, house, hobbies, school, sports and plans for the future. Forty-two years later, I began writing another memoir, this one about the eight years I spent in the White House living history with Bill Clinton. I quickly realized that I couldn’t explain my life as First Lady without going back to the beginning―how I became the woman I was that first day I walked into the White House on January 20, 1993, to take on a new role and experiences that would test and transform me in unexpected ways. By the time I crossed the threshold of the White House, I had been shaped by my family upbringing, education, religious faith and all that I had learned before―as the daughter of a staunch conservative father and a more liberal mother, a student activist, an advocate for children, a lawyer, Bill’s wife and Chelsea’s mom. For each chapter, there were more ideas I wanted to discuss than space allowed; more people to include than could be named; more places visited than could be described...
