...What are the most significant factors the influence a president when choosing the cabinet? (15 marks) The cabinet is an advice-giving group selected by the president to help him in decision making and co-ordinating the work of federal government, membership of which is determined both by tradition and presidential discretion. The cabinet is not mentioned in the Constitution, yet each candidate the president recruits must be confirmed by the Senate. A vital factor that the president must take into account when choosing the cabinet is to have a broad and balanced cabinet. When choosing a balanced cabinet it is crucial to remember three categories,(EGG) ethnicity, gender and geographical variety. This was well done by Obama's cabinet in 2009 as the president had a vast cabinet with different geographical backgrounds, simply meaning that Obama appointed members from as much different states as he could to give those states representation and equality. This balance in-terms of region was visual in Obama's cabinet, it consisted of ( Shaun Donovan (HUD) New York, Ken Salazar (Interior) Colorado, Arne Duncan (Education) Illinois and Janet Napolitano (Homeland Security) Arizona. A further balance of the Cabinet was shown in 2013 under the presidency of Barak Obama. In 2013 this proved to be a good year in-terms of representation of gender within the cabinet as the female role in the cabinet is increasing with 2 appointed and 1 nominee (Sylvia Mathews Burwell (Management and Budget)...

...Edexcel AS Politics Edexcel AS Politics ExamBuster 2009 Introduction to Unit 1- People and Politics Understanding the Examination and Exam Technique Choosing your questions In this unit you are presented with four questions. They are of equal value and each question covers one of the four sections of the specification. These are: Democracy and political participation Party policies and ideas Elections Pressure groups There is no significance to the order in which questions appear. Each question is divided into three sections (a), (b) and (c). When choosing which questions to do, the following principles are recommended: It is almost certain that you will be better off choosing your strongest question to do first. You should choose questions on the basis of how well you can answer the section (c) part. The (c) part carries 25 of the 40 marks available for the whole answer. Do not choose a question simply because you can do part (a) especially well. The (a) question is only worth 5 marks. It would be illogical to choose your strongest (a) part if you cannot do well on section (c). If you cannot decide between several (c) parts, i.e. you can do more than one equally well, make your choice on the basis of part (b) which carries 10 marks. But remember, it is the (c) parts that will determine most what your overall mark will be. So, when you first look at the exam paper, look at the (c) sections first. Assessment Objectives Each question is divided into three sections,...

First, the paper will discuss the process of making foreign policy to sustain US core values and interests which are determined by five major categories of sources (i) the external environment, (ii) the societal environment of the nation, (iii) the governmental setting, (iv) the roles of foreign policymakers, and (v) the individual personalities of foreign policy-making elites (Wittkopf et al 2008, p. 15). Then, the paper will examine the defensive and offensive realism, liberalism, marxism, neoclassical realism, constructivism which can be based on to understand US foreign policy behaviour. In light of recent trends, this study tested whether individuals who identify themselves as Republicans are substantially more likely to maintain negative racial attitudes. The study also investigated whether white Americans are more likely than other racial groups to harbor racial prejudices and disapprove of Barack Obama. Results from this study indicated that racial resentment plays a significant role in contemporary politics. Data from between-subjects ANOVA and correlational analysis suggested that the Democratic Party and Republican Party are polarized in regards to racial issues. Moreover, conservative whites are the most likely racial group to hold racial prejudices against African-Americans. What if we insert element of this feminist theory into the history of our people by claiming we are from the same ancestral cord despite our linguistic differences. The Nupes regard Yoruba as brother from the same mother, that is why we hardly hear of clash between the two ethnic group. Nevertheless, older beliefs died slowly, and ethnic identities were still a vital part of national life since 1990. An untamed emphasis on ethnicity like this gives birth to...

...CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION & THEORETICAL BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY 1 1.1 Introduction in to the topic and justification for choosing the topic A market potential forecast is a core component of a market analysis. It projects the future numbers, characteristics, and trends in your target market. A standard analysis shows the projected number of potential customers divided into segments. The facts are sobering: the majority of small businesses fail within five years of starting up. While there are many reasons that businesses fail, including some that have nothing to do with an owner's skills, it’s also possible that many of those same businesses collapsed simply because they couldn’t get enough customers to buy their product or service. In other words, the owners founded their business on a strategy of “build it and they will come” where, unfortunately, the customers never came. In fact, a recent study undertaken by the Blackbox seed accelerator found that many tech start-ups failed because they focused more on their product than on their potential customers. 1.2 Ask the right questions As a first step to determining the potential market for your new product or service, you want to focus on asking a couple of questions of yourself first, says Victor Kwegyir, a business consultant, business motivational speaker, and author of The Business You Can Start: Spotting the Greatest Opportunities in the Economic Downturn. Some of the questions you may want to begin with,...
