Learner-Centered Approach

Learner-Centered Approach

Teacher-Centered
Approach

Teacher-Centered
Approach

After I went throw the chart that explain the different characteristics of the teacher-centered approach and the learner-centered approach, I choice this point in the continuum for the classrooms culture in Saudi Arabia. The point was at the teacher-centered end of the spectrum because the different characteristics of the teacher-centered approach describe more the classrooms culture in Saudi Arabia.
The teachers in Saudi Arabia preferred lecturing as a teaching methods, this might be because that the teachers had a plan that was assigned by the ministry of education for each course and by lecturing the teacher will have more chance to cover the course in time, and if he/she did not cover the course it will be hard for the student to understand the course of the following year. Some of class that had shorter course subjects the teacher tries to use different methods to teach.
In the classroom the instructor’s role is to clarify and interpret the written text and to direct the learning process. The learner’s role is to listen to lectures, taking notes, read the assigned texts and memorize it, and this explains the teacher-centered approach in the two characteristics, instructor’s role and the learner’s role.

Two others characteristics from the chart are who directs the learning process and the use of the computer, because of the big number of the students in one class room and the long course in on school semester the teachers preferred not to use the computers in the class room unless it was necessary and the instructor will directs the learning process, but I had some class when the teacher will take our class to the computer lap and he will asks to look in the internet for more information about the topic that we are taking in class and then we will share it together.
When I was in high school the evaluation methods was the written/oral exams and homework’s. In the university was also the same but add to that we points for participation or papers for some of the majors, for example the Arabic language or Islamic studies. I had some of my classes in the university where we had to make group presentations also. But overall the desired outcomes were based on the memorization of the texts and absorb knowledge.
Who conducts evaluation is one of the aspects on the chart, when I was in high school our instructors had to evaluate the students by the writing the report or by the grades. Also when I was in the university it was the same but the students had to evaluate the instructors by the end of each semester.
If I had to compare between the classes in Saudi Arabia and the U.S. which is comparing between the teacher-centered approach and the learner-centered approach, I think the learner-centered will be more right and suitable to the students. That will make him understand the subject more clearly but it might take long time using the different methods and this might lead to not finishing the course on time.

Upcat

...(UPCAT) is just around the corner and you are surfing the Net, joining forums about THE test and looking for “special tips” for taking the examination, aren’t you? I see you. I cannot help but remember how chill I was on my exam day.  It was not really because I was so confident that I knew everything the premier state university expected me to know. I think it was more because I did not even think I would make the cut. I did not get to attend any review class nor did I buy all the best and recommended UPCAT reviewers. As many UPCAT passers will tell you, it is not really about how much you have studied the summer before for the entrance exams but how much you have learned in school since Day 1. “UPCAT is not a day but a season. It started the day you realized you needed to work hard for your high school grades so it could help you ace the test. UPCAT … started when you began to hope to be an Iskolar ng Bayan,” says broadcast communication graduate Joseph Cataan. All you need for UPCAT are refreshers because, as they say, “you already know what you know.” I was also calm and cool about the whole thing because I was never pressured by my parents. On UPCAT day, my dad said, “Just do what you have to do.” And so I did. People will tell you that getting into UP is not the be-all and end-all but it pays to be assured that you did your part, from pre- to post-exam. Survival tips Here are a few tips from successful survivors of the UPCAT to get you on your way down that maroon brick...

...topics in the course. This book is meant to be used in conjunction with the course work I have created for you. But here’s what you have to understand: this is not your typical finance course that just deals with money. Over the years, I have learned that I can tell you everything you need to do with money, but I can’t make you take action. Clearly, something must be preventing you from doing the things you know you should do. The goal of this course is both to teach you what to do with money and to help you remove those obstacles. Money is the currency of life. It is a physical manifestation of who you are. You are the one who goes out and earns a paycheck. You are the one who decides to take that paycheck and spend it, save it, or invest it. If you don’t have all the money you want in your life right now, then I am going to ask you to go within to discover why you are doing without. So, then the question becomes, Who are you and what must you do to bring the money you need and want into your life? And that is what makes this course di erent from any other personal finance course that has ever been o ered. It deals with the who—meaning you—and not just the what of money. v A Note from Suze I hope that in general you feel powerful and in control of your life. But do you really feel powerful and in control when it comes to your money? If you are like most people, you do not. Hiring the Right Employee

...of Getting Hired Today Final Paper Amelia Hills Composition I CM107 May 1, 2013 With the economy in a sad state, many individuals are taking the opportunity to better their education for a better life. Therefore, when an individual either quits or is terminated from a job there are many expenses involved with hiring a new employee. What does it take to get a job today? It really is about whom you know; what you know helps too. Add onto that that you need to do extensive research on the company you will interview for and hope that they have done their own research on you such as call your references at least. But how far is a company willing to go to find out what kind of person you are before that initial interview? Some companies go as far as checking out your Facebook page, as well as your LinkedIn page, I don’t believe this is acceptable, nor do I think a potential employee should go to that length either. Have you ever heard the phrase it’s not about who you know, it’s about what you know? Well, today that is not always the case. Networking is very important when looking for that perfect fit job. You might ask, “What is networking?” Networking is a support system of information sharing and services (jobs) among individuals and groups having a common interest (dictionary.com). There are several ways of networking, some more common are over the internet and advertised or hidden market jobs (No One Will Hire Me). Advertised are just that, they are jobs found...

Discussion About Differences

...I’m going to give you some of the reasons to me why discussions you have in class is different then having casual conversation with your friends. One is when you are in a class room u are talking to people you don’t know so it is more uncomfortable for the speaker. But when you are with your friends its more easier because you know them and you can really have conversations with them. Second you must know your facts about what you are talking about. Like if you’re in a class room you must go look at books and info so you know more about what you are doing. If you are with your friends you can tell them what you know and they are ok with just as much as you know about it without asking questions. Third when you are talking to class mates you must be loud enough for them to here you and you get marks for not showing good talking skills with them. When you are with your friends you don’t have to be loud or show them you have to have good talking, they don’t mind it. Those are some of my examples of differences of having discussions in class and having casual conversations with friends. These are three different ways you can demonstrate respect for your classmates in class discussions. First you can make sure that your eyes are on the person who is talking so they know you are showing them that you’re watching what they do. Also you don’t talk to others while someone is talking in the discussion or it is very disrespectful...

I loved having ALL the attention on me, hanging out with the popular kids, being the best volleyball player and well known by everyone in school! I went to this grade school called Monroe located in MN from 1st to 8th grade. When 6th grade came around it was hard to keep friends because everyone I got close to moved, went to a different school, or we just grew apart. So I invested my time in after school activities, volleyball, and homework. I would always try to hang out with the popular group outside of school but they were always up to no good! Plus my step-dad would always talk my mother out of letting friends spend the night or even come over! Hence the group of friends I had. Was ONLY during school hours! During 7th and 8th grade I decided to change up somethings... The towns capacity was growing frequently. The school would get a herd of new students every week like the school was competing for students against other schools. But if you enroll in my school you would get free trip to the Stare Fair! Due to my school having so many new students my peers started to divide into two groups. Their was two cliques forming. The new kids versus the old kids...

All About Mba

...What Every MBA Student in the World Needs to Know Sandeep Krishnamurthy http://faculty.washington.edu/sandeep 1 Management ≠ analysis. What you are learning in school is analysis. You are being taught tools and techniques. Analysis is just one of the ingredients in the recipe. You may have the best analysis in the room. However, if your analysis is not heard and taken seriously, it is of no value. Too often, talented people with the best answers sit in the back of the room while hacks run the show. If you enjoy the view from the back, getting an MBA will not change anything. A MBA degree only works if you are willing to transform yourself. Are you? 2 Einstein would have been a terrible manager. There is a huge misconception among students that being smart is the way to be successful. Let me break this to you. It is not about being smart. There are many smart people who are absolutely incompetent managers. Not to mention the fact that many smart people are first-rate jerks. Don’t get me wrong. I am not saying you have to be dumb to succeed. What I am saying is that you do not have to be a Mensan to make it to the top. All you need is average intelligence. But, you need other qualities. 3 Bill Clinton would have been an excellent manager. The man had his faults. But, he could communicate like few others. Bad managers are, frequently, terrible communicators. They have good ideas. They simply don’t know how to get them across. You cannot lead, motivate or sell if you cannot...

Second , add other regular activities, such as part-time jobs, commuting time, sports, and regular meetings. Third, include sleeping and eating.
