There is an overwhelming amount of crime that happens everyday in our country. We witness it almost constantly on television and in the newspaper, and sometimes may actually experience it personally. What a lot of people don't know is what happens to criminals after an arrest since there's no real public follow up on each offender. Like we learned in class, each person goes through the system just like is shown in the criminal justice funnel model. There are many offenders who are weeded out and get community service or spend a small amount of time in jail, however there are typically 14% that get sentenced to incarceration of more than a year [1]. These are the people who end up in state and federal prisons not only as a place to help themselves

How to Change Engine Oil in a Car

...How to Change Engine Oil In A Car What is oil change? Engine oil is the lifeblood of your engine. It picks up dirt, particles and other impurities and deposits them in the oil filter to keep your engine clean. Consumer Behaviour

...outside the purchasing funnel—changing the way they research and buy your products. If your marketing hasn’t changed in response, it should. David Court, Dave Elzinga, Susan Mulder, and Ole Jørgen Vetvik If marketing has one goal, it’s to reach consumers at the moments that most influence their decisions. That’s why consumer electronics companies make sure not only that customers see their televisions in stores but also that those televisions display vivid high-definition pictures. It’s why Amazon.com, a decade ago, began offering targeted product recommendations to consumers already logged in and ready to buy. And it explains P&G’s decision, long ago, to produce radio and then TV programs to reach the audiences most likely to buy its products—hence, the term “soap opera.” David Court is a director in McKinsey’s Dallas office, Dave Elzinga is a principal in the Chicago office, Susie Mulder is a principal in the Boston office, and Ole Jørgen Vetvik is a principal in the Oslo office. Marketing has always sought those moments, or touch points, when consumers are open to influence. For years, touch points have been understood through the metaphor of a “funnel”—consumers start with a number of potential brands in mind (the wide end of the funnel), marketing is then directed at them as they methodically reduce that number and move through the funnel, and at the end they emerge with the one brand they chose to purchase (Exhibit 1). But today, the funnel concept fails to capture...

...The length of time required for the project. (iii) The subject(s) being taught through that project. A VOLCANO PROJECT- (SCIENCE PROJECT) The topic area is rich enough to support projects at all grade levels, but this experiment is listed as a 3rd grade science project since I believe it is the first age group that can perform the steps needed with very little supervision. Under the right circumstances, it could also be used as a 4th grade science project, or possibly even as late as 5th grade. OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT This project is designed to help young students learn more about earth science by looking specifically at volcanoes. We'll also learn how common household items can be used to build useful models, with an element of creativity required to make the model realistic. Hopefully we'll discover a few new science terms along the way as well. The experiment is done in two steps. First, we figure out how to make a volcano, and then we look at fun ways to make it erupt. LENGTH OF TIME REQUIRED It will take at least one class period for the children to make a volcano with paper-Mache, another to paint and a third to add final decorations and make it erupt. At least one full day will be needed between these steps to allow for drying time. MATERIALS NEEDED - 1 newspaper - 1-2 cups flour, depending on the volcano size desired - 1-2 cups water - 1 medium size bowl - 1 fork or...

Hubspot

...Implications 23 Problem Statement 25 Appendix A – Exhibits 27 References 30 Introduction HubSpot founders, Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah, were selling more than software—they were selling a philosophy. They believed that Web 2.0 was a game changing technology that could be leveraged to fundamentally change the way marketers attracted customers. At the same time, typical push marketing techniques were becoming ineffective. Greg Stuart, x-CEO of Interactive advertising bureau, estimates that advertisers spend roughly $112 billion (just over half of total spending in 2006) on sending messages that reach the wrong audience or none at all (Anonymous, 2006). HubSpot designed their products to fill and manage the customer funnel using techniques termed Inbound Marketing. Using the same techniques and products they were selling, HubSpot was able to attract 1,000 customers in a little over a year which showed that their philosophy was sound. In fact, their philosophy was “sold” even before they had a single customer because they were able to raise $17M in venture capital. They attracted a diverse group of customers using the inherent characteristics of inbound marketing techniques. However, two distinct customer segments emerged from the customer database and hence HubSpot positioned their product offerings accordingly. It is clear that HubSpot is at the tail end of the Introduction phase and moving into the Growth phase of the product life cycle. The owners...

Design of Business

...permission of Harvard Business Press 256 pages Focus Leadership & Management Strategy Sales & Marketing Finance Human Resources IT, Production & Logistics Career Development Small Business Economics & Politics Industries Intercultural Management Concepts & Trends Take-Aways • Business leaders often believe they must choose between analysis and intuition. “Design thinking” offers a third path. • Design thinkers observe the world, imagine alternatives and bring them into being. • Innovations start as intriguing “mysteries.” To unfold them, first develop workable “heuristics” and then derive predictable “algorithms.” • Think of the learning and discovery process as moving through a “knowledge funnel.” • People need analysis and creative thinking at different points in that funnel. • New firms emphasize “exploration.” As they mature, they shift to exploiting known ideas, but if they stop at that point, other innovators will surpass them. • Your organization must balance predictable or “reliable” production with “validity,” experimentation that leads to new ideas and commercial success. • To protect a company, leaders must protect the exploration that leads to its validity. However, over time, organizations tend to emphasize reliability instead. • To develop your design mind, broaden your “personal knowledge system.” • Cultivate the “stance, tools and experiences” that build enhanced “sensitivities and skills.” Rating (10 is best) Overall 9 Applicability 8 Innovation 9 Style...

Wrtg 393 Instruction Manual

...How To Change Your 2005 Honda Pilot Oil WRTG 393 Christopher Bloss June 10th, 2015 INTRODUCTION Changing your oil is just like changing the cat litter box – dump out the old crap, inspect for any issues, and fill up with new, fresh goods. The only difference is – if you make a mistake during the change process, you can cause permanent damage to your motor. This manual details the process of changing the oil in a 2005 Honda Pilot. This manual was written for the average DIY-er who has a basic understanding of engine maintenance. This manual is broken down into several thorough steps to help explain the process from understanding the purpose of an oil change, the need for changing the oil, and steps for at home oil changes. Motor Oil Purpose: There are 5 main purposes of motor oil: protection, lubrication, cooling, cleaning, and restoration of performance (Arnold, n.d., para 1). According to Arnold (n.d.), “Motor oil creates a slippery coating of lubrication so that the moving parts can move more fluidly. Without the oil's lubrication, the friction in the moving parts of the motor is greatly compromised and the compression is decreased, resulting in the inability to reach optimal levels of speed and performance.” Oil lubrication creates protection for the moving engine parts without this lubrication; the metal engine parts begin to degrade. As oil travels through the engine, the debris is collected and cleans the metal parts within the motor (Arnold, n.d., para...

Identifying Methodologies, Techniques, and System Requirements

...systems analyst can go about getting information needed to prepare for a project. Information gathering plays a big part in knowing your customer, their existing system, and what they are looking to accomplish. In the first portion of this assignment, we’ll make some decisions as to how to approach a client, picking an interview structure, and selecting questions for an interview. The second portion of this assignment will cover explaining to a customer why the information gathering technique known as Prototyping is a viable option, and how it can actually aid in users understanding and expressing their own needs. Part 1 – Interviewing the Chief Accountant The first step to approaching an interview is undoubtedly preparation. I would read as much information about the background of the company as I could from any number of sources. Some good suggestions on where I can find some of this information are places such as an annual report, a corporate newsletter, press releases, or even the internet (Kendall and Kendall, 2012). The better prepared I am, the more at ease I will be during the interview. I’m a firm believer that the more intelligently you can speak to someone about their products or company, the more at ease they become with you. For my interview approach, I have decided to use the funnel structure, beginning with some general, open ended questions, and then getting more detailed as the interview progresses. My reasoning behind this; top executives in a company...
