An Exploration of Muslim Migration into Europe
For centuries now, Muslims have settled into Europe in hope of providing a better future for their families. And today, countries such as Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, and the United Kingdom are home to more than 10 million Muslims. In the 60’s and 70’s, a large majority of Muslims migrated to Europe to fulfill the country’s increasing demand for skilled labor. Originally, Muslims moved as guest laborers (individuals who temporarily reside in a host country) to work and send remittances from their jobs home. However, many of these workers decided to permanently relocate in Europe for reasons that included: work and business
