The goal for those professionals who work in this field is to provide for those privileged to receive assistance from them with a higher quality opportunity to succeed at life then the chances they have on their own. The individuals who are receivers of human services vary from the homeless and children to the elderly. The needs of each person should be individually assessed and then steps taken to offer the highest quality of assistance available. Departmental teamwork will be required to meet a variety of needs for one individual and should be a goal for the professional to seek cooperation with fellow caseworkers and other agencies when necessary to provide this high quality care for the client at hand. Historically speaking, Human Services workers are documented as early as 1909 and have continued to participate and evolve into the professionals we see today.
