...Part 1: Based on my experience's before reading or web research. Based on my experience I feel research is a part of understanding something to the best of your ability. I believe it can be used in many different areas and not just for scientists. Consumers looking to make a purchase of a variety of different products such as electronics, tools, sporting goods clothing and more; from Buying a house, car etc... Students, Business's, Government, Hospitals-Doctors-Nurses and many more types of people, place's, institution's and so forth use research. The reason I feel we do it? The reason depends on the area of research you are looking to do research in. In my opinion we do research to make informed decisions. So we know what we are talking about or learning. We research so that we can make an educated informed decision before we apply the research to what we are going to do with the information. We read research so that we can compare and contrast different research. There are so many different theories, opinions, data and Information on subjects making it so that we have to go through all kinds of information before we feel we have an educated decision on the research performed. There are many different reasons to use IT in research. We use research to decide policy's and procedures while using various business practices. When different It equipment is to be purchased there is a reason to prepare for special needs and costs that may occur. I also feel that when upgrading...

...Ellis & Levy (2008) state that “Research is a systematic process of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting information— data in order to increase our understanding of a phenomenon about which we are interested or concerned.” CHARACTERISTICS OF A RESEARCH PROBLEM What constitutes a researchable problem? According to Calderon and Gonzales (1993) A research problem is (1) any significant, perplexing and challenging situation, real or artificial, the solution of which requires reflective thinking; (2) a perplexing situation after it has been translated into a question or series of questions that help determine the direction of subsequent inquiry. The term research problem implies that an investigation, or study is to be conducted, or that a problem is ready to be studied. Additionally, the subject of your research should be of interest to you and should: 1. Be useful for the concerned people in a particular field 2. Progress the subject matter 3. Invites more complex designs / more variables 4. Time sensitive 5. Does not carry personal ethical or moral judgments What are the components of a well-formed Problem Statement? Jacobs (2013) noted that “Problem statements represent a system of argument – or a conditional syllogism – that is based on information that is recognized information is derived from the scholarly literature of the field, reliable sources from the general or professional literature, or commonly-accepted views of the field from...

...PERU E. M COLLINS COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS TERM PAPER ARGUEMENTATION STUDENT ID NO: D33/34238/2010 AN ARGUMENTATIVE RESEARCH PAPER ON RESEARCH TOPIC: WHAT IS SCIENCE? TOPIC: Dispelling Misconceptions; Physical and Natural Sciences are not superior over Social Sciences. TABLE OF CONTENTS Abstract. 3 Introduction 4 Recommendations 22 REFERENCES 25 Abstract. Science in general is a great and highly developed human enterprise. Its intricacies are clearly not limited to the scientists alone, but it is essential for the entire human race. If we think of science as a space within the larger space of society then it is at the interfaces between these two spaces that human beings are involved with science. To see this interface clearly from the space of science is not the same as seeing it as a mere collection of facts that should be construed to be true and nothing but the truth. Science is beyond facts, ideals and thoughts. It is a process and a model that has undergone tests, been tried, reviewed and accepted as a true representation of the processes and occurrences in the natural world However, due to the broad nature of science, and the work, time and resources involved in pursuit of knowledge in different science fields which entails different interests, and thereby different values too; and the different...

...Braxton Coor Mr. Brown ENGL 1201 Assignment 2 September 26,2015 What happened to Roanoke The story of the lost colony known as Roanoke is one that many have tried to uncover but have failed miserably. It all started when Arthur Barlowe and a few of his men looked into a strange new world. All they knew was they smelled something of a beautiful garden and they wanted to explore it. The time of their finding of the island was in late summer, perfect for the fruits and vegetables to be producing their produce. Barlowe was on a expedition to find a perfect location for a colony sent by Sir Walter Raleigh. Roanoke seemed to be a perfect place for this, seeing that the Island was protected by the Atlantic ocean. Barlowe also said that "the most plentiful,...

...What Shaped Me to Become the Man that I Am Today? Kofi Annan once said that, “if tolerance, respect, and equity permeate family life, they will translate into values that shape societies, nations and the world.” This quote summarizes who I am and what shaped me to become who I am today. In this essay, I will discuss how my family and the society that I grew up with influenced and molded me as a person. Not everyone is born with a silver spoon, especially not in South Carolina where I was born. I was born and grew up in poverty and to a single mother and four other siblings. The early years of my life were surrounded by deprivation, hunger and violence. When I say poverty, I literally meant little or no access to basic necessities, much more to material goods. Being poor and the unfavorable one in my family, I can remember vividly diving into dumpsters for food. It...

...The method of research that I chose is survey research. Surveys are used to ask people questions about their behavior, beliefs and feelings (Schutt, 2012). Surveys use a deductive approach. This means that the researchers start off with a research question and then develops key concepts that were used to test hypothesis. Survey research is the best research option for my research questions: What are Americans’ perceptions of police? and Does race and social class influence these perceptions?, because I want to know people’s feelings and beliefs when it comes to the police. Surveys are really versatile and by being able to give surveys online, makes it even more versatile. People tend to answer more honestly when the participation is anonymous...

...Is it the best sport in the world? Is it your job? Is it your life, or in the words of so many commentators “is football merely a game?” The fact is that football is the most popular sport on our planet. It brings communities together and can form bonds which lasts a lifetime. Football means the world to me, it is all that I ever do, and I see it as more of a lifestyle than just a sport or a hobby. I put my blood, sweat and tears into football hoping to achieve my aspirations of becoming professional and I think that IMG is the perfect place because of the world class facilities and staff. I feel that not only will IMG change me as an athlete, but it will change me as a person helping me become more independent as I struggle with independence. IMG has been known to produce some world class athletes in the past which makes me feel blessed as I have the opportunity to work with the staff in the facilities that they have. I am a player that is always thriving to work hard and get better and I think that there is no better place than IMG to push me to my limit and beyond to help get better every day. IMGs academic resources would also be beneficial to my development as I struggle with confidence in the classroom. I have seen that there is study hall after school which I have never had before and an academic resource center that this would be helpful because I tend to leave homework and studying to the last minute, but this would get me to do it in a more efficient matter. For as...

...They established mercantilism, which restricted trade between the British empire and the colonies. Anything that was meant to be imported or exported from America had to go through Britain first. Britain would choose what they wanted to import or export and then send these goods off to other colonies. Mercantilism also demanded a large amount of gold and silver, which was currency at the same time, from the colonist. The colonist then tried to produce their own paper currency to take the place of gold, and when British officials found out; they demanded that they get rid of it immediately, which later frustrated the...

...When I was in elementary school, I was a part of a computer club, and our teacher would tell us everything about what was inside the computer and I thought it fascinating. It wasn’t until I was in high school, back in my sophomore year. Back then I went to Cal State Fullerton for a STEM conference, and went to the Electrical Engineering section and I got the chance to connect wires to a breadboard for a burglar alarm. I ended being the second person to complete it and I was on my own, then the rest became history. As well as get a good grasp of what I be learning should I decide to become an Electrical Engineer. When I first applied to Cal Poly Pomona, Electrical Engineering was impacted, and I wasn’t as confident of my chances, so I went to the next best thing. Now I’m studying Electronics and Computer Engineering technology, or the new name Electronic Systems Engineering...

...mention the relief of having a country on your side and eliminating one more country to fight off. Two of the most important alliances to the beginning of World War 1 was the triple alliance consisting of Germany, Austria-hungary and Italy, also the triple entente which was Russia, France and Britain. Also the Balkans made revolts for the revolution because they did not get what they wanted and others did causing more of a scuffle because the Balkans desperately wanted to get rid of the ottoman empire because they were tired of them taking over. Overall, WW1 had three main causes and all tied together to cause the mass war well known to history. Everyone believed their country was bigger and badder and that they had a strong enough military to take over other places and make theirs grow or all they wanted to do was prove themselves. People felt obligated to be supportive towards the war, young boys believed it was destiny, their teachers would tell them of how it was an act of loyalty to their country and that it was heroic. They all felt as if it was apart of them to do an act towards the war no matter what is was as long as it was for it. The creation of alliances wasn't always because places liked each other, often a country would pair up with another just because they believed they would win the war or maybe they had something another wanted to have or use. Overall WW1 was full of inequality and bloody war, many lives were taken and it was not a good way to solve anything...

...I see a lot of kids on a daily basis. They all vary from ages 1-18. What I have realized is there is always that one person (or many depending on where I am) that thinks they are the best. It sometimes makes me mad because it reminds me of who I use to be and my punishment. When I accomplished first grade and moved on to second, I attended Mirror Lake Elementary School. The amount of fun exceeded the charts. I made a lot of good friends. My best friend’s name was Rhiann, but had passed second grade already and moved on to third grade. This means we played at different recess times. One day, our teachers decided to let us play with the third graders. I exerted excitement to be able to play with Rhiann. We were all outside playing on the playground....

My greatest weakness would be my constant critique of myself and my work. How do you handle pressure at work? I handle pressure at work by taking brief moments to compose myself before continuing. However most times I avoid pressure before it occurs if it's something that is in my control. For example I will do my work when I am supposed to so it doesn't sneak up on me. Describe a difficult work situation/project and how you overcame it. One afternoon the kids I tutor couldn't seem to focus. They were really tired and didn't feel like doing any work. I mixed...

...What is the history of stem call research legislation in the US? How does it compare to the rest of the world? The argument for life is often one that results in two circumstances – either life will go on or life will not. Millions of families are afflicted with diseases and disorders that they would do anything in any lifetime for cures to spare their loved ones. Stem cells through argument of science can cure diseases or help heal individuals who suffer from debilitating conditions such as spinal cord injuries, strokes, heart conditions, and burns to name a few. (Reaves, 2001) The argument for stem cell research proves to be one of both moral hazard and religious conviction. (G.Fischbach, 2004) On the moral side, the idea to use terminated pregnancies in order for gain or just their cells is unfathomable. The religious conviction is that individuals who terminated their pregnancies because of the assumed small value they placed on human life only made these cells available. However, these cells before they form human life are cells that have not generated into existing diseases or degenerative conditions. (NIH, 2009) Stem Cell research can be looked at in many ways, but it personally should be viewed a progression to better lives ruined by diseases and catastrophe, not regression and immoral in the eyes of deities and those superior. In the U.S. states funding for stem cell research was prominent in early part of the 21st century by both members...
