What Is The Difference Between Katina Huston´s Rubber And Road?

Currently in the University Gallery there is a show by artist Katina Huston called “Rubber and Road.” Most of the work appears to be ink on mylar, so it is pretty much grayscale on a white background. The main subject of the show was bike wheels; and the focus was in the repeated elements and how light and dark interact with the subject. The work was really interested in how the wheel and its spokes casts shadows and how to make a compelling piece of art out of this everyday object. The choice of ink lends itself really well to the subject, it is able to capture a broad range of value without changing the hue, so even though there is a variety of line weight and darkness and patterns it all feels very uniform within the piece.
