...University of Phoenix Material Research Plan As part of your research plan, you must first draft a research question for your research paper that will guide the rest of your writing. A research question, which is more specific and focused than a general topic, is the question that your research paper will answer. For example, if your general area of interest is social security, a possible research question might ask, “How can low-income families save more money if the United States had a reformed social security plan that includes personal retirement accounts?” As you develop a research question, remember that you need to research sources to support your topic. Do not pick a one-sided question that will limit your research. Instead, develop a research question that lends itself to further exploration and debate—a question you genuinely want to know the answer to. Try to pick a research question that is neither too broad (covering too much) or too narrow (covering too little). It should be broad enough to be discussed in a short research paper. ...COMPARISON OF STUDENT AND NON-STUDENT SAMPLES * Siohong Tih,1 Sean Ennis2 and June M. L. Poon3 Faculty of Economics and Business, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 43600 Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia 2 Marketing Department, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow G4 0RQ, United Kingdom e-mail: 1sh@ukm.my 1,3 ABSTRACT This study examined the adequacy of using undergraduate student samples in research on online consumer attitudes by comparing the attitudes of students (n = 161) towards online retailing services with the attitudes of non-students (n = 252) towards such services. A structured questionnaire administered online was used to gather data on perceptions, satisfaction, and behavioral intentions with regard to online retailing services. The t-test results showed that, in general, students' attitude towards online retailing services is similar to that of non-students. Therefore, undergraduate students may be reasonable surrogates for consumers in research on online retailing. Keywords: internet users, electronic commerce, online consumer attitudes, online retailing services, student surrogates INTRODUCTION The usage of the internet as a communication and transaction medium in consumer markets is growing rapidly (Castells, 2000; Hart, Doherty, & EllisChadwick, 2000). In line with this expansion, consumer-based electronic commerce has become an emerging research area (e.g. Demangeot & Broderick, 2006, 2007; Teo, 2006; Tih & Ennis, 2006a, 2006b). In particular, a stream of research...

It was the first Macintosh to use the PCI standard, with six PCI slots available, with one always needed for the graphics card.” The exact breakdown of system hardware can be seen at the Apple website at the following link, http://support.apple.com/kb/SP492. The overall operations of the system are great for its age and can even be enhanced with a new program entitled “Leopard” (also available from Apple) that could help the overall performance of the system and was actually the oldest model that is compatible with that program. As for the software, we all know that there are significant differences between workgroup, personal, and enterprise uses such differences can be seen with the different programs each use has to offer, some examples of the differences are business tools such as interactive product catalogue, automated billing systems, online shopping and payment tools, and even in some businesses information management systems which are used for the enterprise software, Microsoft’s SQL Server 2008 for workgroup which allows groups of people on the same local area connection to access areas to work as a group towards a common goal, and software...

...Chapter 1 Introduction The environment in which research is disseminated and used is undergoing a radical change and the task of modern HEIs is to better understand this change and support new ways of accessing content. It is now beyond doubt that the internet has revolutionised the way that research content is discovered, accessed and used. Content which once needed specialist skills to find is now widely available and searches which once took days of painstaking work can now be done in a matter of seconds. Increasingly, learners and new teachers’ needs are defined by their capacity to differentiate information: to recognise what is and what is not research content, to sort out the good from the bad, the useful from the merely relevant. The internet also appears to have had an impact on the way that research content is used in the real world. Many universities have invested heavily in learning spaces designed to facilitate the kind of social interaction that the internet promotes. Networks – online and offline – are increasingly a part of the way that the modern world evaluates information, including research content. Yet all this presumes that modern users will best know how to find their way in this new information environment, that they have the skills to find the right databases, enter the right search terms, to discover the most appropriate research content for their teaching and learning and use it in the most appropriate way. This study was commissioned by JISC...
