Describe your ideal study environment. My ideal study environment is an unusual one. I have ADD so any distractions can hinder me learning abilities. I prefer a dim lighting and a comfortable seating arrangement with absolutely no distractions. In this environment I feel comfortable which helps me to focus better on the task at hand. 2. List some of the distractions that might hinder your study progress or your performance in an online classroom. My children are a huge distraction for me in an online classroom. My four year old doesn’t understand the meaning of me having to do homework and is very much a mama’s girl. She always wants to sit beside me and point out whatever is on TV, something to do with her baby dolls or just plain being inquisitive about what I am doing. 3. What actions can you take to manage and eliminate distractions? The action I choose to take is to wait until I put my girls to bed. I get less sleep then I would like this way but unless I hire a sitter I have no other options. ...Career Plan Reflection Mabi Verduzco BCOM 275 October 23, 2014 Linda Doyle Career Plan Reflection The career plan building activities proved to be a very useful tool. The work culture preference survey results indicated the type of work culture that I prefer, which is high-powered, competitive, and leadership intensive. The competencies, reasoning aptitude, and career interest profiler surveys provided additional information to consider. The combined results provide an interpretation of the type of work culture that I see as ideal, the most suitable career fields, and the types of work environments I prefer. I am open to new information and ideas and the survey results did not seem to be too far off from what I would consider to be my true career goals and desires. I think the surveys provided insight to aspects of my career I had not given much thought to before this course. This course (BCOM/275) discussed many important aspects of communication verbal and nonverbal, cross-cultural communication, and barriers to effective communication to name a few. One aspect in the forefront of my mind is communication also takes place within different contexts like physical, chronological, and functional, to name a few, but the cultural context (corporate culture) applies directly to the surveys and results discussed earlier. Choosing the proper job that corresponds with my interests and ideal work culture can lead to more personal satisfaction. BCOM/275 provides ideas about proper...

...- What is an ideal job? - There is no basis for any comparison, in other words, standard of an “ideal job” to all people, to all of us, to all the community. - The definition of the “ideal job” depends on each individual’s view. 1. One may think an ideal job is an occupation that gives him/her opportunities to communicate with many interesting people, or to travel around the country, or all over the world. In order that he/she can exchange the relations, raise his/her knowledge about many things, make friendship, etc. 2. Many Vietnamese students now who live and study in Viet Nam consider their ideal jobs as jobs that provide them a guarantee of constant monthly payment, which would allow them to have money enough to afford their lives (Regardless of the fact that they don’t love their jobs at all) Students care about the degrees they get when they finish colleges and universities. A student wants to have a job to earn money enough to maintain a normal life. As long as he will have enough money from what he does, regardless of his interest of any careers else, he would go for it. So that is his ideal job. Thence, right at the beginning, students tend to apply to faculties those regarded as the “hot majors” in the community. Such as Finance and Accounting, Banking, Business, etc. These majors seem to be promise to them to enter the right careers of their lives that make them earn a lot of money. 3. Some may say that if they went for their ideal jobs, they did what they...

...My Ideal Career My ideal career lies in the law field. I have not decided on one particular law career yet because I do not yet know enough about the different types of law, but the ones that I think do sound interesting are mediation, family law, and paralegal. A paralegal can work in any area of the law. They can work in family law, criminal law, etc, and also in the mediation field. What made you interested in the law in the first place? I think mediation sounds interesting because a mediator helps people settle their disputes outside the court room in a peaceful way. Mediators need to have excellent reasoning, problem-solving, and peace-making abilities (The Princeton Review, 2012). This appeals to me because I am more of a peaceful person and do not really like conflict or arguing, though I can stand my ground if I need to. According to the Princeton Review, a good mediator is honest, neutral, encouraging, listens well, and has excellent communication skills (The Princeton Review, 2012). I have all of these skills, especially the honest part, down well. In fact, my dad is always telling me I am too honest and I could never get away with doing anything wrong when I was little because I would always give myself away. hahaha Family law is interesting because I like the idea of helping families through the hard parts of life. Family court lawyers handle divorce, guardianship, prenuptial agreements, adoptions, parental rights, custody cases, and the financial and tax...

...girl, when Amazonian-like beauty is pressed in on them daily. “I looked at a Barbie doll when I was 6 and said, ‘This is what I want to look like.’ I think a lot of little 6-year-old girls or younger even now are looking at that doll and thinking, ‘I want to be her.’ The previous quote was said by a model, Cindy Jackson, during a CBS News interview in 2004. Scientists have spent a good amount of time and effort trying to decide if Barbie and her ideal figure have a hand in young girls developing eating disorders. In a study done by Helga Dittmar and Emma Halliwell they found that young girls are extremely impressionable when it comes to how they feel about their bodies when compared to Barbie. During the study, 162 girls, all of who were between the ages of five and eight were exposed to one of three different images of a doll. The first group was shown images of a Barbie doll, the second group was shown images of an Emme doll (she is a doll in the UK, who’s body dimensions equal that of a woman’s size 16), and the final group was the control...
