Project Question For our data analysis, our group decided to gather information pertaining to airlines and the different factors that go into calculating their revenue. To support our conclusions, we collected and evaluated 1,283 observations across 30 airlines, over a 12-year period beginning in 2000. We used this information to analyze the effects of a variety of independent variables on our dependent variable of revenue (both domestic and international). The independent variables we examined included number of flights, baggage fee revenue, fuel costs, amount of fuel consumption, and the dollar amount spent on advertising. These variables were divided into both domestic and international amounts. To complement our findings and evaluate data on a more disaggregated level, we separated the airlines into major and minor airlines. We placed all of the data we collected into Excel and then imputed all of the Excel information into SAS in order to run our analysis. II. Description of Variables All of the variables we analyzed, except for advertising spending, were found utilizing the RITA database provided by the Department of Transportation. Advertising spending data for airlines was found via Ad$pender. Ad$pender and RITA are both...

...We are interested in how second-generation Asian American students at the University of Illinois feel about being Asian American, particularly those who are not of Chinese, Korean, Filipino or Japanese descent. In other words, we are focusing on students whose background ethnicity represents Southeast Asian (Thai, Vietnamese, Laotian, Indonesian) and South Asian (Indian, Bengali, Pakistani) and so forth. We want to explore how various Asian ethnic groups identify socially and culturally with the term Asian American. We asked for written responses from Asian American students, who have these background ethnicities, to describe in their own words what being Asian American means to them. In addition, we walked around campus and interviewed several second-generation Asian Americans. In their explanations, we encouraged the students to explain if it was a struggle growing up in America, whether they have ever been a victim to stereotypes or discrimination and how they have dealt with it. We took these statements and compared them to the stereotypes placed immigrants of the 1900s. In addition to the interviews, we analyzed our finding with an article published by Jerry Park of Baylor University titled, “Second-Generation Asian American Pan-Ethnic Identify: Pluralized Meaning of a Racial Label” who did a similar study in four public universities, along with other readings from class. The term, Asian American, was formed as a significant symbolic move in constructing an ethnic identity...

...(1) To what extent has the systems model of training been used? Discuss some of the implications of using this model? Discuss the benefits of the training described in this case for the organization, employees and society? In case one, it provides inadequate information of using systems model of training. First of all, Canadian American transportation System recognize that ferry need highly regulated by U.S Coast Guard and Transport Canada. Therefore, they have to train no experience employees in order to meet the standards of related government officials. They identify two levels of training need to be conducted. One is safety of life at sea (SOLAS), another one is seafarers’ training certification and watch keeping (STCW). Both levels involve a series complicated procedures and trainees need take a lot of responsibilities. * Systems Approach to Training However, in this case, after recognized two levels of mandatory training, the employee were taken to pools to learn a series actions, such as how to jump in to water to get people into safety rafts, and how to use equipment in cold-water conditions. It did not provide information of identifying the needs between employees and organization or designing training program according to the current situation. Therefore, I believe that Canadian American transportation System provide inadequate information of using systems model of training. Theoretically, there are four major parts in systems model of training. These are conducting...
