...Bennie Mclaughlin my 5 year plan ap 165 How often do we sit down and ask ourselves, “what will I be doing in 5 years”? For me I had to sit down and really think about where I see myself going in this field because there are a ton of possibilities. I could just get a simple job, work from home, go to client’s houses, and go back to school. In 5 years I see myself doing all of those things but ultimately starting my own business in massage therapy. After I complete the program I want to look for employment as soon as possible. Of course to make ends meat for home, but mostly to gain even more experience in my profession. Only thru hands on experiences from different people will I truly get the feel for what im doing. I wouldn’t mind giving special massages to pregnant women, who i know deal with a lot of uncomfortable and painful situations due to the baby growing and making constant changes to their body. Knowing I can ease some of the tension they are feeling would be a good feeling for me and I’m pretty sure they would appreciate it as well. Having a baby is a big responsibility and if I could make that experience less painful and or help with a medical situation I would consider that a big step forward in my goal. Also helping military is another job I would look for in my massage therapy profession. These people lay there life on the line for our country and some go overseas and come back sore, drained and some injured. I would love to help ease there mind if possible...

...look nice. From there it just went down hill and I had to quit so I told them I wasn’t down with their program but luckily they still had that one model. Right before we got dressed and all, we were to sign paperwork saying the pictures would be everywhere so I couldn’t put my self through that issue when its definitely not me. I, myself don’t like to wear too much make-up and couldn’t have pounds on just for their project. This is the reason why I don’t ever want to model or work for evil people. As usual my friend got mad but it was her fault for lying to me in the first place. One thing I dislike are dishonest people. In life I just learned to deal with them because no matter how much you dislike them, they will always be around. This particular person has lied to me plenty of times and it’s nothing new. I keep her around because you know what they say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Either way they like it I will always keep it real and stay positive because Im a big believer on karma and that is real enough. I see it all on the daily when people do bad it comes back to them most...

...LivePhoto Physics Activity 32 Name: Date: Exploring Faraday’s Law In 1820 Hans Christian Oersted observed that electric currents create magnetic fields. Consequently many scientists made unsuccessful attempts to create current in the presence of magnetic fields. After over 10 years of investigation Michael Faraday and Joseph Henry, working independently on different sides of the Atlantic, made the discovery that if a conducting coil has a changing magnetic flux passing through it an electromotive force is created that causes a current to flow through the coil. The equation describing this phenomenon quantitatively is known as Faraday’s Law. a b c In this activity you will be asked to use Faraday’s Law to explain why the current induced in a coil and thus the voltage across it changes the way it does when the north or south pole of rod shaped magnet is moved into and then back out of the center of a coil of wire at various speeds. No calculations are required in this activity, just thinking! Figure 1: The north pole of a cylindrical magnet is: (a) moving into the center of a coil of wire; (b) reversing direction; and then (c) moving out of the coil. The coil’s voltage vs. time is recorded with a computer interfaced voltage probe. Theoretical Review: According to Faraday’s Law, at any moment the induced emf (denoted ) across a conducting loop with N turns is equal to –N times the rate of change of the magnetic flux passing through the area enclosed...

...Curriculum Theories Synopses and Comparative Presentation Matrix of Theoretical Models Behavioral was the dominant school of thought in psychology through the 1950's. With proponents of the theory that included Pavlov, Thorndike, Skinner, Watson, and Premack, the theory adheres to a view that identified the learner as a passive participant to environmentally produced stimuli. The act of an individual responding to an environmentally produced stimulus becomes conditioned overtime as dependent upon reinforcement. Behavior is therefore based on an external stimulus and response (Learning Theories KnowledgeBase, 2010). Operant behaviorism as prescribed by Skinner and Keller (as cited in Becker, 1991) is often the most associated approach aligned to curriculum theory. An operant behaviorist approach to learning is measured by the ability to condition an individual to react or respond in an intended manner based on experience or stimulus. To influence learning is to control the type and frequency of an experience to arrive at an intended response by the individual (Ormrod, 2008). As it applies to curriculum, the behaviorist includes processes of discrimination learning, chaining, and verbal learning that when carefully sequenced and explicitly taught lead the learner into the ability to apply and address additional complex cognitive structures (Becker, 1991). The theory's current influence on curriculum and instruction is frequently associated with Response to Intervention;...

...friendships brings to mind the accuracy of what he believed. I think all three types are here to stay. Each has its own place in most people's personal growth but some become friendship midgets because of past relationships. They get stuck in relationship quick sand and either haven't found the encouragement to move on or dont realize that they are sinking. Utility and pleasure are self absorbing because at least one of the "friends" never intends on nurturing the other persons emotions or cares because the relationship doesn't require them to do so. "And not in so far as the other is the person loved but in so far as he is useful or pleasant" (Aristotle, p3). It's a monetary sense of gratification. ...specific details. For example, in high school I gave very broad examples and rarely gave my nouns a name. I struggled to get used to this new writing style. After writing a couple essays in this class I've learned from my mistakes of not giving enough specific details. Ive tried to improve my writing with better structure and techniques. Therefore, I feel I am prepared for EWRT 1A because I have established to write a structured essay with a strong thesis with specific examples with a common theme. In the first in class essay the writing style had been extremely close too what I had been used too. It wasn't until my second in class essay,"New ways to Defuse Violence", that I learned the importance of structure of the essay. This essay required us to compare and contrast between two different articles and give a detailed analyze of them. This way of writing was foreign to me because no one had ever asked me to do this. Writing a four paragraph essay instead of a three or five threw me off as well. I began to understand what needed to go in each paragraph. For example, while taking notes in class I've learned that you start with your introductory with your thesis sentence, then two body paragraphs with examples and finally a conclusion paragraph. With this I have learned that the essay structure you write all...

The Financial Accounting Standards Board is also responsible for overseeing not-for-profit organizations and accomplishes this by providing the Accounting Standards Codification or ASC. Not-for-profit organizations account for their revenues, expenses, assets, and liabilities on the full accrual basis of accounting. The financial statements are to provide information that meets the common interests of donors, members, creditors and other resource providers. (Ives, Patton, & Patton, 438). The financial statements required for NFPO include a statement of financial position, a statement of activities, and a statement of cash flows. Revenues, expenses, and investments are all received with certain classifications imposed on them. Even in my dreams im stressed out, thinking about death and all sorts of crazy things. I've been the same ever since i was a little kid. I've always talked in my sleep. My parents have told me that even when im sleep talking i sound stressed or nervous. They have heard me crying and hitting the wall while im sleep talking. This really made me think about my situation with stress. I've been in situations where im lying down and everything comes falling down on me all at once. ...Sure Thing Paper The play Sure Thing, by David Ives, reveals the variations of boy, Bill, meets girl, Betty, and the ensuing pick up lines. The central theme throughout the play displays multiple varieties of a possible conversation that ends with a ringing bell that symbolizes a fresh start and a second chance to make a good impression. What results is a very funny sequence; a series of opportunities, of near misses, of crashing abject failures as Bill tries to engage Betty’s attention. Body language, communication, and first impressions are just a few factors that we can use to help start a new relationship if we use it right. When Betty is alone in the cafe reading her book one can assume she doesn’t want to be bothered just by looking at her. As Bill comes up to her and interrupts her reading the first couple of times Betty doesn’t want anything to do with him. But when Betty finally tells him he can sit down with her she still continues reading, not wanting to have a conversation. Body language is everything. It’s more important than words, more important than routines, and even more important than physical appearance. Bill should have known just by getting a glimpse of Betty that she didn’t want to be bothered. Solid body language is the best way to make a strong first impression. According to Joe Navarro (2008), who specializes in the area of nonverbal communication or body language, body language behaviors...

...Brazilian Music First off music is what has brought us here together as a group today, Its what triggers our emotions as well as helps communicate with others in various situations…. The country of Brazil occupies roughly half of south America, bordering the Atlantic ocean Brazilian music is a unique blend of European harmony and melody, African rhythms along with Native American culture. How they all came together to form the distinctive sound that is today known as “Brazilian” music is a long story. Here is the short version. Some musical genres that originate from brazil are; Bossa Nova Jazz - In the early 1960s, bossa nova rhythms became popular with jazz and pop musicians in the U.S. and Europe. Brazilians, too, have long had an affinity for jazz, and usually mix it around with plenty of local influences. Capoeira - A style of martial arts developed by Brazilian slaves in the 1700s. Capoeira was developed surreptiously, with practitioners pretending that they were taking parts in dances, when in fact they were practicing their kicks and blows. Thus, there is also a whole style of capoeira music which goes along with the martial arts culture. Choro - An improvisational instrumental style from the late 19th and early half of the 20th Century. Similar to New Orleans trad jazz, choro was closely connected with the early development of samba, and is typically played by a small ensemble -- over the years the instrumentation has expanded to include more instruments, such...

...Science is everywhere and in everyday life, but just because it out there does that mean we have to believe it? Do you ever questions television ,or even articles that you read wondering where they got their information from or if they know if it is true or not? During these past few days ive learned a lot of information on many different topics. I have read the articles in section 5 some articles have similar topics and others don't. What i mean is that most talk about detox and diets and the rest are about false information given to the public and myths. In the article " Pattern Behind Self-deception TED Talk" his predominant on this is belief and why people believe things even when it doesn't sound nowhere near the truth. He voices " Belief is the natural state of things it is a default option. We just believe, we believe all sorts of things. Belief is natural." He also adduced a definition which caught my eye which was Patternicity, The tendency to find meaningful patterns both meaningful and meaningless noise. I say this because our brain and senses are prepared for anything when we hear a noise we think its something in reality its nothing. Then you have "Signs Of Bogus Science" in this author Robert L. ...In healthcare settings, again the goal of culturally competent health care services is to provide quality of care to every patient, regardless of race, gender, religion, ethnicity, cultural background, language or literacy level (Carrasquillo, Orav, Brennan, Burstin, (1999). Cultural competence improves healthcare delivery (Brach, & Fraser, (2000). In natural settings, the doctor is thinking from a rational western viewing in treating the patient (Collins, Hughes, Doty, Ives, Edwards, & Tenney, (2002). The patient also has cultural and religious beliefs that influence communication and interaction with the healthcare system (Collins, Hughes, Doty, Ives, Edwards, & Tenney, (2002). Western healthcare views often clash with cultures of the patient. Views on abortion, euthanasia, organ transplants, and experimentation are different from a “medical paradigm” view and cultural views of minority groups (Brannigan & Boss, (2001,...
