Also, back in time, we are shown that Edna took on his painting career and ignored all the of the social responsibility. This situation led to her parent consultation of a physician. ‘And Connie paid close attention herself, bathed in a glow of slow-pulsed joy that seemed to rise mysteriously out of the music itself and lay languidly about the airless little room, breathed in and breathed out with each gentle rise and fall of her chest. Q. How does Nancy Lee’s experience show that America needs to be “made” into a place that practices its espoused beliefs in equality and/or “liberty and justice for all”? Everyday Use Misunderstanding is a common scenario experienced everyday between daughters and their mothers. In this book, Everyday Use, there instances where Dee and her mother display instances of misunderstanding. Although her mother expected her to come home dressing and looking decently, she surprised them through wearing traditional clothes, manipulating her name as well as introducing her Muslim fiancé to them. When Dee complied to allow Dee take a cover quilt, her mother declined. This left Dee with a view that her mother is backward. This is because, they are stack the past primitive way of living. Despite her scornfulness as a child, Dee finally decides to give in to her mother’s ways. She finally concurred with the aesthetic condition of the house. She requested to have a quilt women by her grandmother. From the description, “stands straight up like the wool on a sheep’’ shows as that they are surprised with Dee. They did not expect her to behave in such a manner. Dee’s mother did not expect her to totally abandon their culture. She had cut off the link with rural experience. She reclaimed her African heritage later instead. This resulted into a conflict between her and the mother. The culture was believed to be part and parcel of their life. Dee, went as far as changing her initial name to avoid the discomfort her previous name gave her. “I couldn’t bear it any longer, being named after the people who oppress me.” This s5atement showed how fed up she was with their traditional cult. Dee’s mother lacked a deeper understanding of the world to a point of being scared by Dee. She fails to understand Dee’s behavior and kind of life she was living. This resulted to the reduction of trust she had on her daughter. Although, Dee views her new way of life as a kind of liberal life, her mother perceive it as a denial of both her family and origin.

Dee turns out to be arrogant as well as insensitive girl. This situation results to her mother not seeing even her admirable qualities. They perceive her qualities as extreme and annoying. Dee uses her educational knowledge to exercise authority over her family. She comes home with a new cult which she tries to preach to her family members. Dee sees herself as the most important compared to other family members. Having learned in a college, she now sees that everything she does is right and nobody should question it. Instead they should follow her ways as she believes they are the best way to follow. At one point in the story, we are told that Dee’s mother complained of her not bringing friends to their home. ‘’no matter where we choose to live, she will manage to come and see us. But she will never bring her friends’’. She does not seem to show humility by accepting her home and bringing her friends freely. See How They Run In the book ‘’See How They Run’’, change is shown in many instances. Stanley, the main character, is portrayed as unlucky, overweight, weak, slow and quiet. He is also considered unlucky following the bad things that happen to him. When he is capture, he transformed in jail and worked hard to earn something to eat. He also made a strong friendship bond in jail with Zero. Hester, in her letter, believed early that the Puritan who prayed and feared God were not doing it wholeheartedly. "Breathless show, fast tempo, plenty of laughs." They were doing so out of the fear they had for their lives. But later, Nathaniel became interested in the Puritans and became the first American author to employ the use of artistic judgment to the society of Puritan. I very ‘much like the script! It is a true comedy with mistaken identity and a Russian Spy!’
