What Matters to you? Education is something that every person has a right towards. Standing up for these rights is a brave and courageous act to do. In every part of the world there are different educational rights for men and women. In mostly Asian countries, education is not a priority for women, even though women do want to have an education. But some women are actually strong enough to stand up for these rights. Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani teenager who was brave enough to campaign for girls’ education when it was not allowed. Where she is from, the Taliban had banned girls from attending school. Her thoughts on education gave the idea that education is very powerful and that every girl has a right to it. With her father also being an education activist, she had the support she needed to keep on going on the path she had made. Yousafzai is one of the most popular teenagers we know today, and for such a great reason. Before she was shot by the Taliban for standing up for girls’ educational rights, she was also a blogger. She would blog on a BBC website about her life under the Taliban’s restrictions and orders. It was way to tell the world about the influence of the Taliban on their lives. In one of the blogs she reported that she was still studying for her annual exams but because of the ban for girls from school she was uncertain if she was even going to be able to take her exams and if all the studying she was doing was even worth it. These blogs were written constantly and every single time there would be something new to report on how it was under the rule of the Taliban. Yousafzai once wanted to be a doctor, but looking back to her experiences in blogging and becoming an educational activist, she decided that she wants to become a politician. “I have a new dream ... I must be a politician to save this country. There are so many crises in our country. I want to remove these crises” (Class Dismissed Documentary). She wants to be someone who can help her country get rid of all the horrible and terrifying events taking place under the rule of people who aren’t thinking about everybody equally. Yousafzai started to appear in documentaries, interviews, newspapers, and articles. With gaining all this recognition her life was put more into danger. The Taliban did not want some girl campaigning for girls’ educational rights when they were strictly against it. Death threats were made towards her and published in the newspapers. Notes filled with death threats were slid under her door and even Facebook was not safe for her to use because of the threats and fake profiles made under her name. But still Malala did not stop doing what she knew had to be done in order for all the girls to receive a good education and have a good future. Even though the Taliban did attempt to kill her, she survived because she still had to stand up for herself and all the other girls who are deprived of their education. Humans like Malala are very hard to find these days. She is one person who will always be recognized for the good deed she has done for herself, for the girls in her country, and her country itself. She has proved to be a woman with power and a mission in mind. Malala has given many interviews and has been praised a lot based on those interviews because of what she says in them. She has good thoughts towards the future of the girls in her country and for her country also. Powerful women like her cannot and shouldn’t be stopped, because these are the women who will be thanked by future generations for what they have done for their countries.

‘Most Critics Shy Away from Labeling the History Boys a Comedy, Due in Large Part of the Subject Matter.’ to What Extent Do You Agree with This View?

...As Wesley Morris said ‘The History boys is a bittersweet comedy,’ and that is extremely precise. Comedy iss generally intended to be humorous or to amuse by activating laughter. The History Boys is noted as a comedy-drama but overall has a deeper intention. Ironically, the gravitational topics discussed are opposite to the comedy; just like Hector and Irwin as these characters function in the play is to exemplify the comedy and gravity. But, why did Bennett incorporate these characters in? Bennett cleverly distinguished between the opposite values of a teacher and created two opposite characters to enhance the comedy and gravity of them. But, why is Bennett’s play labeled as a comedy? Comedy is used throughout the History Boys by Bennett through selected techniques such as parody, contrasting characters and their clever juxtapositions within the plot. But, the elements of a more somber tone flourish throughout the play. Comedy is clearly a main influence of Bennett’s when writing The History Boys as there are several humorous scenes in it. The mock interview disagrees with the critics view. ‘How do I define history? It’s just one fucking thing after another.’ This is an example of one of the entertaining moments of the History Boys as he wouldn’t say that in an interview. Bennett proves to the audience that Rudge adds to the comedy. The French scene shows the Head teacher contrast with the student intelligence. The persuasion of the Headmaster into speaking French and the...

Dark Matter in the Universe

...Have you ever wondered why there's so much empty space in the universe? it turns out that more than 70% of or known universe is made up of Dark Matter. What is Dark Matter? Why does it take up so much space? How can we use it for the betterment of our universe? There are so many questions that arise when something we know little about makes up so much of where we live. What I Already Know About My Topic: I chose to write about Dark Matter in the universe because it is a very rarely known thing in human understanding. When someone thinks space, they think planets, galaxies, and “Star Wars.” When I took my first high school science class, the very last section we had was about Dark Matter, and I had visibly freaked out to the point that my teacher asked me if I was okay. When it comes to “galactic” science, I tend to know quite a bit more about the subject than those that taught it to me because I was always a “Discovery Channel” child. Dark Matter is an interesting thing that you seldom hear or see anything pertaining to. This is why I have chosen to “teach” you about this potentially catastrophic element. Have you ever just taken a moment to look up at the stars and thought, “Wow, there’s quite a lot of black up there! I wonder what it is?” Well, ladies and gentlemen, that “space” that surrounds us is actually not space at all! It is filled with boundless amounts of an element that doesn’t exist within the Earth’s atmosphere! Surprisingly...

So this was saying to me that you should never destminate a person no matter what they do because you don’t know what their going threw. This taught me that no matter how a person responds back to you no matter how nice you are you have to just let it go. How to Tame a Wild Tongue

...language different ways, does not mean they are any less a part of that culture. This whole article is about recognizing the Chicano culture as being legitimate. That it is something to be proud of. A big argument in our American culture is whether American is English or English is American. There is no fact of this matter there is only many different opinions. My personal opinion is that English is American. When America was founded, it was Great Britain who settled the land and formed colonies. Great Britain spoke English. That is why I think the English is American. America is often known as the “melting pot,” because so many people from different cultures moved here to start a better life. Because there are so many different cultures, there are many different languages. In the world, there are many different cultures, and many different variations of those cultures. Some of them may speak a little differently or live their life a little differently. But no matter how they live, language can be a key factor in how they are treated by the other variations of that culture. Language can be the one thing that a person is judged by. No matter what other attributes that person has, the way he or she talks can mean everything to some people. When that person...

Marriage Should Be Legal No Matter What

...Marriage Should Be Legal No Matter What 1 Marriage Should Be Legal No Matter What Chrystal Jones PHI103: Informal Logic Instructor: Robert Gala March 25, 2013 Marriage Should Be Legal No Matter What 2 Marriage Should Be Legal No Matter What I believe with that if you love, cherish, and care for someone and they feel the same way as you, than the next logical choice in the relationship is to get married. But in the crazy world, everybody wants to tell you that you can marry who you want. Back in 50’s and 60’s, people would burn crosses and destroy homes all because a white person and black person got married to each other. Now in 2012, while there are no burning crosses or destroyed homes, people are getting angry because men want to marry men and women want to marry women. I believe that no matter what marriage should be legal everywhere because when you find your soul mate, that person doesn’t have to of the opposite sex, they can be of the same sex. This past May in the North Carolina, we had an amendment of whether gays should be allowed to be married in our state. The amendment was really pushed all the churches and older Republicans and Democrats, it stated that marriage would be considered legal between a man and a woman and nothing else. Generally, my parents and I agree on all political points but on with this one we greatly disagreed...

What Does It All Mean

...Barry T. Offenburger In Thomas Nagels book, “What Does It All Mean”, many questions are brought up that have troubled mankind probably since his existence or time of intellectual thought. Scientist are able to prove that humans have been here on earth between 6-7 billion years. With all these amazing discoveries man has been able to find, we are still unable to answer what seem to be some simple questions about ourselves. Do I really exist outside of my mind or is this all a dream? Do I really have will power or the freedom to choose? What is my meaning to life? These are all topics that depending on where you are from and how you were raised will all affect your theories and/or beliefs behind your answers. With an open mind; however, these questions can open a whole new world of possibilities and maybe what you have thought to be right your entire life, to be viewed as completely wrong. How Deep Does the Rabbit Hole Go? I am sitting in a black desk chair typing this paper, feeling my fingers strike the keys. Looking at the screen but still completely aware of all my surroundings, hearing my neighbors annoying dogs bark as I type. I am feeling a little bothered. I know all of this because I am using my senses to let me know where I am and what I am doing. So the question now gets deeper…How do I know what a chair feels like, what a computer looks like, or even know what a dog is? Is there even a chair? Is all of this real? Or is this all in my mind? Nagel brings up some...
