Cornwallis wasn’t fully responsible for losing the war during the American Revolution, but he did play a significant role in doing so. More battles were lost than they were victorious. There were many others who took a drastic part in the downfall of the British and the French. John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington all fought against Cornwallis and his men and superiors. One main base was Kittanning Pennsylvania. It had the nickname “Nest Of Coarse Hairs”. A rival of Cornwallis was Braddick, who preferred to fight the traditional European way. He soon gave his life for his ideals. In the interwar years, Cornwallis succeeded his father and obtained a seat in the House of Commons. He also became a member of the Whig Faction and was one of the only five lords to vote against the Stamp Act. Cornwallis sympathized with the American colonists until the revolution.
Tom Cochrane, the British naval officer who proposed the idea of bombing and chemical warfare, was arrested and imprisoned for giving speeches all over Europe against parliament.
