...What We Know About the Development of Intercultural Maturity Student’s Name Institution What We Know About the Development of Intercultural Maturity Cultural diversity is the opposite of monoculture. It only refers to diverse culture or quality of various (Banks, 1997). Cultural diversity also means respect between different cultures that exist. It sometimes implies the existence of a variety of cultures like what we have in the world today, whereby particular culture occupy a particular region in the world (Banks, 1998). Globalization has been said to have had adverse effects on diversity in the world today (Banks, 1997). Culture influences how society members share experiences, heir values, fears, worries and hopes, culture moulds the perception and understanding of a community about the world. Culture enhances equitability and justice in the society (Banks, 1997). My goal in this paper is to discuss cultural diversity and particularly what we know about the development of intercultural maturity (Banks, 1998). Students from diverse social class, regions, ethnic and racial groups always perform and achieve differently in the schools (Banks, 1997). This act leads us to the need for equality in the education system; this will in turn close of the diversity gap. Intercultural Maturity is developed by formulation and implementation of multicultural education policies that will abolish culturally based education systems. Culturally biased education systems...

...between the changes of the mind and body, I will also describe theories of you they effect one another. Adolescent Sexual Maturation Adolescence is a challenging period for both children and their parents. Three stages of adolescence - early, middle, and late, are experienced by most teens, but the age at which each stage is reached varies greatly from child to child. These different rates of maturation are connected to physical development and hormone balance, neither of which the child can control. For this reason, adolescents should be treated as individuals and any guidelines should be adapted to the particular child. The biological changes we associate with adolescence actually unfold over a long period of time, beginning with the maturation of the adrenal axis during childhood and ending with the maturation of the gonadal axis in the early 20s (Steinberg, 2011). Piagets Theory and Adolescent Maturity At 15 years of age a teenager is well prepared to understand the risks. According to Jean Piaget and his Theory of Cognitive Development a child between 7-11 years of age has the cognitive ability to consider problems with multiple dimensions and utilize abstract thinking (Morris & Maisto, 2008). If Piaget discovered this in the 1920s, it comes as no surprise that today’s professionals are proclaiming ten as the new sixteen, as far as, when children should be receiving education on sex...

The international firm may have to content with different legal and ethical standards in different host countries. In this paper the parameters of the political, legal, and the cultural environment of international business will be considered, The paper also relates how political, legal, and cultural incidents or situations may become roadblocks to the smooth operation of business ventures in foreign countries. Misunderstandings and breakdown in communication often arise from differences in perception by executives who are not from the same cultural, legal and political background. International investors need to know what elements in a foreign culture have the greatest influence over consumption patterns in general and particularly the consumption behaviour to their specific product. By reflecting on the language, religion, demography, climate, values and beliefs, education, labour, roles of women, family, ethnic groups and other similar elements, the international business person will be able to, not only participate in the international economy with a better perception of the situation, but also be able to cater for the needs of the international buyers. Culture and International Business In everyday usage, the term culture refers to the finer things in life, such as the fine arts, literature, philosophy, and classical music. Under this very narrow...

...cognitive complexity, competency, behavioral, human capital, personality process and global mindset. In relation to these perspectives and the contextual elements of global business environment, a model of global leadership is derived. The key content variables of global leadership are explained in the realms of cognitive complexity, emotional resilience, cultural intelligence, motivational processes and related facets which interact with the global business environment. Introduction In organizational behavior, leadership appears to be the most researched, debated and discussed topic, and researchers have analyzed what leaders are like, what they do, how they are effective, what are the conditions/situations that make them effective, how do they bring about changes among the followers, the styles of their interactions with the followers and how they go about achieving their individual, group and organizational goals (George, 2000). The traditional focus of leadership is the organization that operates within a limited boundary. However, the changed context of globalization and the emergence of multinational and transnational corporations necessitate the consideration of leadership in the changed focus of global leadership. Definition of Global Leadership: Different Perspectives The general understanding of leadership involves the “process of social interaction where the leader’s ability to influence the behavior of followers can strongly influence performance outcomes”...
