Charlie's doctors had to make ethical decisions about the operation. Charlie Gordon's doctors did not act ethically when they performed the surgery to make him smarter. Charlie's doctors did not think of the consequences the operation would have on Charlies quality of life. Quality of life is "the principles of beneficence, nonmaleficence, and respect for autonomy" (Siegler). The doctors do not think of Charlie or even consider what will happen to his quality of life after the surgery. When Charlie became smart he lost his job and his friends.
