How are these kind of learnings utilized in the workplace? Give specific examples of each.Operant Conditioning – Is a type of learning in which an individual’s behavior is modified by its antecedents and consequences. It is the learning of voluntary behavior through the effects of pleasant and unpleasant responses.Example:Your boss giving you a raise for displaying good behavior. Or a demotion for displaying bad behavior.Observational Learning- learning that occurs through the observation behavior of others. The learning of new behavior through the actions of a model.Example:Observational learning has 4 elements.Attention: To learn anything through observational learning the employee must 1st pay attention.Memory: The learner (employee) must also retain the memory of what was modeled.Imitation: The learner (employee) must be capable of imitating the actions of the model.Motivation: The learner (employee) must have the desire to perform the action modeled. Social Learning- is a process in which individuals observe the behavior of others and its consequences and modify their own behavior accordingly.Example:Social Learning in the workplace would be watching your co-workers have good behavior and get rewards accordingly, aspiring the other employee to have good behavior and receive rewards as well.How is prejudice developed and nurtured through classical and operant conditioning? Give examples that demonstrate each kind of learning.Prejudice- is prejudgment, or forming an opinion before becoming aware of the relevant facts of a case. The word is often used to refer to preconceived, usually unfavorable, judgments toward people or a person because of gender, political opinion, social class, age, disability, religion, sexuality, race/ethnicity, language, nationality or other personal characteristics.Prejudice is a learned and or observed trait. This is not something that a person is born or programmed with. If someone is classically conditioned it means that their experiences in life led them to believe certain things about certain characteristics so. Operant conditioning involves neural responses so individuals start to form opinions about groups based on their observations.What memory techniques will you use in order to free of too much dependence on notes and power point slides? Be specific as to how you will relate the technique to the content of the presentation.Some techniques to cut down on cliff notes and power point slides would be to be specific when delivering the content of the presentation. Do not add “fillers” to your presentation, cut and dry and being to the point is the best way to retain the information that you are trying to present. Notes should be reviewed and memorized before the presentation and not crammed in the night before that project is due. Several “mock” presentations should be done prior to the actual presentation so that you can get a feel for how the information flows during your presentation. Practice makes perfect and with the information viewed frequently a routine should start to form and the information being delivered will come to memory smoothly.Name and describe 3 qualities of emotional intelligence according to Golman, if you were interviewing an applicant for a position in your company and wanted to know whether they had emotional intelligence, how would you go about discovering that? Would it be done in the actual interview or by other means?Internal motivation. A passion to work for internal reasons that go beyond money and status -which are external rewards, - such as an inner vision of what is important in life, a joy in doing something, curiosity in learning, a flow that comes with being immersed in an activity. A propensity to pursue goals with energy and persistence. Hallmarks include a strong drive to achieve, optimism even in the face of failure, and organizational commitment.Empathy. The ability to understand the emotional makeup of other people. A skill in treating people according to their emotional reactions. Hallmarks include expertise in building and retaining talent, cross-cultural sensitivity, and service to clients and customers. (In an educational context, empathy is often thought to include, or lead to, sympathy, which implies concern, or care or a wish to soften negative emotions or experiences in others.) Serial killers who marry and kill many partners in a row tend to have great emphatic skills!Social skills. Proficiency in managing relationships and building networks, and an ability to find common ground and build rapport. Hallmarks of social skills include effectiveness in leading change, persuasiveness, and expertise building and leading teams.There are many different ways to define emotional intelligence. In general, it refers to a person's ability to manage their emotions and work with the emotions of the people around them. Emotional intelligence is important when we plan our careers and build relationships with others. From reading through our chapter, I would have to say that if I were interviewing an applicant, I would determine their emotional intelligence by asking specific questions pertaining to how they react to their own feelings and or the feelings of their co-workers. If said applicant demonstrates that he/she is in tune with their own feelings and candle handle emotional responses in a humbling manner, then they have emotional intelligence. Same goes for their responses to questions pertaining to co-workers.
