...Analyzing Goal Setting on Employee Motivation Assignment 5 Business Communication Johns Hopkins University Zhe Xu September 28, 2013 Executive Summary As an intern at Citibank for one month, I found that employees at Citibank do not focus on their work during their work time. In order to correct this low morale at Citibank, I proposed to use goal setting to improve employees’ behaviors. This research explores whether goal setting has a positive effect on employee motivation by borrowing models from predecessors’ research and social cognitive theory. An email-delivered descriptive survey addressed ten questions on how employees feel and whether they are motivated after they are assigned goals. My findings suggest that Citibank employees are highly motivated by goal setting. This study concludes that setting a high level and specific goal for Citibank employees is an effective way to motivate them. My recommendation for Citibank is to set exact goals and deadlines for each employee and develop a system of rewards and penalties. The employees who complete their goals efficiently and perfectly will earn a financial bonus and those who finish the goals after the deadline will receive a deduction of their salaries according to their performance. Background During the period when I was an intern at Citibank, I found that employees there were inefficient in their work. They were not punctual to work. Some came to work late, and some left work early. In addition, employees...

To address the security issues of the original IEEE 802.11 standard, the following additional technologies are used: The IEEE 802.1X Port-Based Network Access Control standard is an optional method for authenticating 802.11 wireless clients. IEEE 802.1X provides per-user identification and authentication, extended authentication methods, and, depending on the authentication method, encryption key management dynamic, per-station or per-session key management and rekeying. Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) is an interim standard adopted by the Wi-Fi Alliance to provide more secure encryption and data integrity while the IEEE 802.11i standard was being ratified. ...1-800-530-3992 Automated Frontend Optimization (FEO) With Blaze Why the frontend bottleneck is the most important performance issue today and what can be done to alleviate it. Introduction t used to be that the answer to most Website performance problems was either to add more hardware or reengineer the backend application code. For most sites, the backend is now the small part of the problem. Pages are generated by the backend quickly but downloading and rendering the frontend code and resources takes a long time. Research shows that for many popular sites it’s the frontend that accounts for over 90% of a users wait time. Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) help address part of this problem by reducing network latency. However, even larger performance gains can be achieved through Frontend Optimization (FEO) techniques that streamline the Web page HTML code and resources. I Trends Driving the Frontend Bottleneck A web page’s performance can be split into backend and frontend. Backend time includes generating the page’s HTML and resources. The frontend time includes downloading the resources and processing them in the Browser. There are four important trends making the frontend an important performance issue today and potentially even more important in the years to come: 1. Rich content. Viewing a chart of size vs. time, it goes up and to the right. Since 1995, the average size of a page has grown over 35x, and the number of objects per page has grown 28x. Larger, link...

...CITRIIX LICENSE CLUSTERING INTRUCTIONS The following steps describe the overall process involved in installing and configuring licensing on a cluster-enabled server. These steps assume you configured the clustering on the hardware on which you intend to install the license server. A detailed procedure follows. 1. Ensure that the first node has control of the cluster resources. 2. On the first node of the cluster, start the Citrix Licensing installation from the command-line and install it on the first node to the shared cluster drive (not the quorum drive). 3. Move the resources from the active node in the cluster to the second node. 4. Install the license server on the second node to the same shared location as the first node. 5. Obtain license files that specify the cluster name of the license server as the host name. After obtaining license files, you must add them to the license server and then reread them. 6. Configure your Citrix product to use the cluster name—not the node name—of the license server cluster. Note: When a clustered license server fails over, the cluster service renames the lmgrd_debug.log to the name of the node that previously hosted the services. Then it starts the services on the new active node and creates a new lmgrd_debug.log. To install licensing on a cluster-enabled server 1. Install Java on both cluster nodes. You can find a supported version on the Citrix product CD in the Support folder. 2. Ensure that the cluster IP address, cluster...
