“Who is helping to Reduce America’s Belt Size- Burger King or McDonald’s?”

With 1.6 billion over weight adults, and 400 million obese, it is imperative to know what is in the fast food that is consumed today. McDonalds and Burger King both serves the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad, the Ranch Grilled Chicken Wraps, and the Classic Grilled Chicken Sandwich. This paper will compare the nutritional value of McDonald’s and Burger King.
The grilled chicken Caesar salad is served at both McDonalds and Burger King. The grilled chicken Caesar salad served at McDonalds has 27 grams of protein, and the carrots provide A, C, K, and B vitamins that are essential for our bodies. The grilled chicken Caesar salad also contains 10 grams of carbohydrates, 6 grams of sugar, and 32 grams of fat, which are unhealthy for our bodies, and can cause obesity and heart disease (McDonalds.com 2012). As a result, cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death globally, with over 17.5 million deaths each year (30 percent of all deaths). Food provides the chemicals we need for activity and body maintenance. The body cannot synthesize or produce certain essential nutrients; we must obtain them from the foods we eat (Donatelle, 2011). Carbohydrates, fats and proteins are the nutrients that give the body the energy it needs. The serving size for the grilled chicken Caesar salad is 10.4 ounces, which is 3.3 ounces smaller than Burger King’s. McDonald’s grilled chicken Caesar salad has a calorie count of 190 (McDonalds.com 2012). Burger King’s grilled chicken Caesar salad contains 35 grams of protein and the carrots provide vitamins: A, K, C, and B. The grilled chicken Caesar salad contains, 26 grams of carbohydrates, 6 grams of sugar, 32 grams of fat and the body does need some fat to function properly (Burger King.com 2012). Although, Americans typically get approximately 38 percent of their calories from fat, 15 percent from proteins, 22 percent from complex carbohydrates, and 24 percent from simple sugars (Donatelle, 2011). The grilled chicken Caesar salad’s serving size is 13.1 ounces, which is actually 3.3 ounces larger than McDonalds. The calorie count for this salad is 530 (Burger King.com 2012).
McDonalds and Burger King both serve the ranch grilled chicken wrap. The ranch grilled chicken wrap that is served at McDonalds has 16 grams of protein, the tomatoes have vitamins: A, C, and iron. The ranch grilled chicken wrap contains 25 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of sugar, and 12 grams of fat. This can cause Cardiovascular Disease (McDonalds.com 2012). CVD comes in many forms, the thickening and hardening of arteries, is a condition that underlies many cardiovascular health problems and is believed to be the biggest contributor to disease burden globally (Donatelle, 2011). The serving size of the ranch grilled chicken wrap is 4.2 ounces, which is actually 1 ounce smaller than Burger King. The calorie count for this wrap is 270. The Ranch Grilled Chicken Wrap served at Burger King contains 19 grams of proteins; the lettuce, cheese, and chicken provide vitamins: A, C, and B2. The Ranch Grilled Chicken Wrap contains, 24 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of sugar, and 18 grams of fat, this not healthy for our hearts. The serving size of the ranch grilled chicken wrap is 5.2 ounces, which is actually 1 ounce larger than McDonalds. The calorie count for this wrap is 370 (Burger King.com 2012).
The classic grilled chicken sandwich served at McDonalds has 28 grams of protein, the chicken and tomatoes provide vitamins and minerals like A, C, B2, and iron. Proteins are major components of nearly every cell and have been called the “body builders” because of their role in developing and repairing bone, muscle, skin and blood cells. The B2 vitamin comes from animals products. The classic grilled chicken sandwich also contains, 42 grams of carbohydrates, 8 grams of sugar and 9 grams of fat, this is not healthy for our hearts. The classic grilled chicken sandwich serving size is 7 ounces, which is actually 1 ounce smaller than Burger King. The calorie count for this sandwich is 350 (McDonalds-nutrition.com). The serving sizes at McDonalds have changed over the years; they use to have Super Sizes. When the movie “Super-Size Me” came out, it made society start to realize, that larger portions will lead to obesity (Differencebetween.com). Burger king’s classic grilled chicken sandwich contains 31 grams of protein, the contents of this sandwich gives essential vitamins like, A, C, B2.With all the factors that influence our dietary choices and the wide array of foods available, the challenges of eating for health increases daily. Fortunately, we have a wealth of solid information that serves as a foundation for our decisions (Donatelle, 2012). The classic grilled chicken sandwich has 43 grams of carbohydrates, 6 grams of sugar, and 22 grams of fats; this is unhealthy for our hearts (Burger King.com 2012). Fats, another group of basic nutrients, are perhaps the most misunderstood of the body’s energy sources. Fats make foods taste better and carry the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K to the cells. They also provide a concentrated form of energy in the absence of sufficient amounts of carbohydrates and make you feel full after eating (Donatelle, 2011). The classic grilled chicken sandwich’s serving size is 18 ounces, which is 1 ounce larger than McDonalds. The calorie count for this sandwich is 510 (Burger King.com 2012).
There are 6 McDonalds and 2 Burger King locations in Calvert Co., MD. In the large business areas are where most of the McDonalds are located. McDonalds has a better quality of service, as opposed to the service of Burger Kings. At McDonalds, one person takes the order, and the same person prepares the food. In the large business areas where only 1 Burger King is located, shows they are in low demand. Burger King’s service is faster than the service at McDonalds. At Burger King, they take the order in one area, and the food is picked up in another area.
McDonalds and Burger King have become more health conscious in today’s society. Reducing the serving sizes and grilling their meats, has improved the nutritional value of their foods. As a result, McDonalds serves a larger and healthier variety of foods, which puts them in a higher demand.

...as follows: marketing and its environment (consumer behavior, industrial buyer behavior, marketing environment), product, pricing, promotion, and distribution. So, coverage begins with introductory concepts and proceeds into the marketing mix elements (product, price, promotion and place). You may wonder whether this book covers all aspects of marketing. No, it does not cover all aspects of marketing. You will find only basic concepts herein. If you seek specific, contemporary examples of marketing concepts, check out a traditional textbook from the library or purchase a recent edition from a used book store. Try the Perreault and McCarthy textbook (14th edition) or the Kotler and Armstrong textbook. Section I: Concepts of Marketing A. Who is a Marketer? Consider first that marketing is driven by people and their needs. It is people driven. Contrast marketing, a people driven discipline with accounting or information systems—policy or rule driven disciplines. In marketing, you are trying to identify and cater to people’s needs. In a policy driven discipline, you are adhering to generally accepted accounting principles or to the precepts of ‘C’ or COBOL, programming languages, or network structures. You may wonder what is...

The World in 2008

...EDITOR'S INTRODUCTION Two big events will frame the year ahead: America’s presidential election and the summer Olympic games in Beijing. The race for the White House will be a marathon, from the front-loaded primary season in January and February to the general election in November. The betting is that the winner will be a Democrat—with a strong chance that a Clinton will again be set to succeed a Bush as leader of the free world. China, meanwhile, will hope to use the Olympics to show the world what a splendid giant it has become. It will win the most gold medals, and bask in national pride and the global limelight. But it will also face awkward questions on its repressive politics. America and China will be prime players in the matters that will concentrate minds around the world in 2008. One of these is the world economy, which can no longer depend on America, with its housing and credit woes, to drive growth. America should—just—avoid recession, but it will be China (for the first time the biggest contributor to global growth) along with India and other emerging markets that will shine. Another focus of attention will be climate change. As China replaces America as the world’s biggest producer of greenhouse gases, serious efforts on global warming depend on the serious involvement of those two countries. If 2007 was the year when this rose to the top of the global agenda, in 2008 people will expect action. It is striking that green is a theme that links all the contributions...

The Internet has become a huge medium for advertisers, targeting audiences more precisely than any medium before it. Yet, none of the venerable ad agencies at that time could have guessed that an Internet start-up—Google— would become bigger than the leading multinational advertising holding companies like Omnicom, WPP, Interpublic, and Publicis. Nearly 99 percent of Google’s $16.6 billion revenue in 2007 came from advertising. THE BUSINESS OF MASS MEDIA B 343 ‘ ADVERTISING However, Google is different from the Madison Avenue agencies. It doesn’t design witty, slick ad campaigns. Instead, it facilitates the dull but effective text-based sponsored links that appear in Google searches or on affiliated sites. “We are in the really boring part of the business…the boring big business,” Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt says.2 What Google’s ads lack in creativity, they make up in precision. Google’s AdWords advertising...
