My god, Kegou is the god of the poor. His title, the god of the unfortunate, may seem misleading at first because he does not give misfortune but gives fortune to those who have lower social class or power such as farmers or the homeless. He is as poor and defenseless as a stray dog yet lives a rich, godly life. His job is to give good fortune to the poor and homeless and make their lives count. During the day he unnoticeably gives those who are poor or generous to the poor good luck, such as a poor farmer growing an unusually abundant crop. He gives bad luck to those who cause suffering on the poor and vulnerable. He is important to the egyptian people because he serves justice, protects and defends the poor from those with power.
