My book that I did for the book talk reading assignment is called “The enemy”. This book is written by Pearl S. Buck. This is fiction book. A quote that was made by her that stood out to me would have to be “Americans are our enemies. But I have trained not to let a man die if I can help it” pg- 37. In “The Enemy,” a story set in Japan during World War II. American washes up on the beach near the home of a respected Japanese surgeon, who finds both his daily activities and traditional attitudes transformed by the encounter with the American soldier. The couple that found him tries to help by removing the bullet engaged by his kidney. The come to think he is an American, probably an escaped prisoner of war, for his body shows signs of abuse.
