When Bilbo came out of the cave, he had realized that he’s on the other side of the Misty Mountains. He decided that he must go find his friends, but then he heard some noises, and it was actually Gandalf and the dwarves arguing to go back and rescue Bilbo. Bilbo slipped off his ring, so they can see him since he was still in the state of invisibility, and then they started to continue their journey until night falls, they had heard the wolves, Wargs, howling. The dwarves and Bilbo each climbed a tree to get safety before the wolves try to devour them. Gandalf had set the wolves on fire which made the Lord of the Eagles hear the noises, so they came to investigate what’s going on. In the meantime, the Wargs had joined the Goblin army, and they

...the Nadir, the darkest and lowest point in their journey, where he will be tested both physically and mentally. That is the case for Bilbo Baggins, a shy and reluctant hobbit in J.R.R Tolkein's The Hobbit, who was protected from the perils and dangers of the real world in the comfort of his hobbit-hole. In his journey, Bilbo has to make many judgments that leave him torn between his loyalty to his friends and doing the right thing. But it is these obstacles that fully initializes him as a true hero. In the beginning of the story, Bilbo seemed like the most unlikely hero when Gandalf and thirteen dwarves came and asked for him to join them on the quest, but in the end, Bilbo faces many situations, challenges and develop traits like selflessness, courage ,and wisdom that is essential to all heroes and will ultimately determine and define who he is, and whether if he will succeed as a hero or not. A hero will rise when there is a call for a challenge and they could accept two choices: fight or flight. For Bilbo, the challenge comes when Gandalf and thirteen dwarves come and asked him to join them on a quest and play the role of a burglar to vanquish the terror of the countryside, Smaug. The Hobbit Passage Analysis

...jumped Bilbo seeing a huge mess. He cleaned up and ate a nice “little” breakfast. Missing the note the dwarves left, Gandalf came back and got Bilbo. They then started their journey. Thorin: (questioning himself) Now where shall we have supper and where shall we get a dry patch to sleep on? Not until then did they notice that Gandalf was missing. One of the ponies got scared and ran off into the water almost drowning Fili and Kili. Balin: (loudly) There's a light over there! It then began to rain. They decided that Bilbo should go and check it out. Thorin: Now it's the burglar’s turn. You must go on and find out if it's safe or not. Now go, and come back quick. If not, hoot twice like a barn owl and once like a screech owl. As...

Lord of the Rings and Sociology

...Perspective The Lord of the Rings, is a fantasy style movie filmed from 2001 to 2004. It is set in the setting of Middle Earth where Sauron forges a great ring from the fire of Mordor to provoke havoc upon the lands. Frodo, a hobbit from the Shire, is "gifted" the ring of power from his uncle Bilbo, when he stumbled upon the ring from his adventures in his past time. Gandalf the Grey, an old friend of Bilbo, figures out this ring Frodo beholds is the one ring of power and decides the only option is to destroy the ring from where it came from, Mordor. Frodo stumbles upon people who accompany him on the way to Mordor, when they all decide to form a "fellowship" with all the same mission to help Frodo the destroy the ring. This fellowship starts off as a group of mostly strangers to each other in the beginning, but across the three movies they all become a family. (IMDB) They all split up in different ways at the end of the first movie, but each group becomes a family within a family throughout the movie. Enemies become friends, friends make sacrifices for each other, and each "family" serves a purpose for the quest of destroying the ring. I'll explain more in the paper about each "family" and why I'm writing this paper on this movie. While re-watching this whole series from a sociological standpoint, it opened my eyes in a different way. I wasn't just astounded by the acting or directing, but by the whole plot and how it indirectly points out conflicts in today's society. I always had...
