The first topic that got my attention was economics of sexuality I knew sex had been used to sell goods and I've seen commercials and advertisements that use sex appeal to attract customers however I had not considered how this was actually challenging Victorian culture. I never saw about how these advertisements take away the emphasis of procreation put on sex. Another point of interest I found when reading essay number one, was that intimacy between women wasn't challenged until women started demanding equal rights. I found this interesting because in my personal experience when people feel threatened by something, they dismiss it. Instead of trying to understand or trying to empathize with someone of a different race, religion, sexual orientation, sexual identity, or gender, people write them off. Their identities either don't exist, matter, or are considered wrong. I find it interesting that some people think ignorance will protect kids from some of the dangers of sex. It makes more sense to me that the more educated you are, the better equipped you are to handle any situation. I was also interested by the mention of sex education in France and the Netherlands. I'm curious to see what sex education curriculum looks like in other countries around the world. Another point that stood out to me was when Fisher points out how the focus has shifted from what sexual acts are appropriate, to who is engaging in the act. The reason why this stood out to me is that I don't really understand why people are so obsessed by things that do not involve them. What happens between consenting adults is nobody else's business, and I think it is sad that judging and ridiculing people on their sex lives is so common and
