...KUAILE HANYU IN SHANGHAI “The secret of success in life is for a man to be ready for his opportunity when it comes.” ~Benjamin Disraeli I can still remember the time when my Principal told me the good news that I will be the one to represent our school for Special Program in Mandarin Language, I was so shocked and did not expect it. Why? I was a newbie in our school and do not have the experiences unlike the teachers around me. But as the quote stated above, when opportunity comes, grab it. And that has made all the difference in my teaching career. This amazing and once in a lifetime opportunity to be here in Shanghai, China is one of the best and most unforgettable experience I will forever cherish in my life. To be able to work with awesome and wonderful co-teachers and Chinese teachers as well is indeed such a blessing. I’ve learned so much from them, from teaching expertise to strategies, values and words of wisdom; these strives me to be more productive and excellent teacher in my field. Indeed, learning a new language is difficult more so if you have to adapt their culture and ways of living. But I can say that because of the hospitality, care and support of the Chinese mentors and tutors to us, it made our journey here so easy, comfortable and we feel at ease all the time. There are many memorable moments that I will never forget while staying in Shanghai. First is the cold-freezing temperature in China that I’ve never experienced...

...IN LOVE BY: ANONYMOUS When you think of your past love, you may view it as a failure. But when you find a new love, you view the past as a teacher. In the game of love, it doesn't really matter who won or who lost. What is important is you know when to hold on and when to let go! You know you really love someone when you want him or her to be happy, even if his or her happiness means that you're not part of it. Everything happens for the best. If the person you love doesn't love you back, don't be afraid to love someone else again, for you'll never know unless you give it a try. You'll never truly love a person you love unless you RISK FOR LOVE. Love strives in hurting. If you don't get hurt, you don't learn how to love. Love doesn't hurt all the time, though the hurting is still there to test you and to help you grow. Don't find love, let love find you. That's why it's called falling in love because you don't force yourself to fall. You just fall. You cannot finish a book without closing its chapters. If you want to go on, then you have to leave the past as you turn the pages. Love is not destroyed by a single failure nor won by a single caress. It is a lifetime venture in which we are always learning, relearning, discovering, rediscovering, and growing. The greatest irony of love is LETTING GO WHEN YOU WANT TO HOLD ON and HOLDING ON WHEN YOU NEED TO LET GO. We lose someone we love only when we are destined to find someone else who can love us even more than we can love ourselves...

...and I am anxious for it to come every single year. Everything during fall is absolutely wonderful, I love it! Some of the best times that I have had in my life, oddly occurred during the fall season; and I sometimes wonder if that may be part of the reason(s) that I cherish it so much. Fall is such a beautiful and blissful season; it is the best season of the year. Fall is so wonderful mainly because of the beautiful scenery it displays. Here in Arizona, the summers are very hot and dry, and it almost feels dreadful at times; but the fall here is absolutely beautiful. You can start to notice the transition into fall around mid- September because the mornings are sort of wet from the precipitation and you can feel the cool air gently fan across your whole entire body. Not only that, but later in September, the leaves start to turn into the beautiful array of sunburst orange, medallion yellow and cherry red, and when the leaves start to fall onto the cold hard ground, you can feel and hear the crunch of the leaves beneath your feet. The cool air is so crisp and refreshing; you can feel the slight wind of the cool air tingle your cheeks lightly. The weather is not to cold and not too warm, it is just the perfect measure of both. It is lovely. Not only is the sight of fall beautiful, the different aromas in the air are just as pleasing. Fall has such a unique smell in the air. It is a wonderful mixture of sweet pumpkin pie, burning firewood from the tall chimneys and pickling spices...

...most wonderful choice! Since Adam and Eve sinned, Christians have to work way harder to not try to sin! Christians today and always will have, responsibilities to keep memorizing verses, telling other non-believers, and working hard for God’s happiness! A Christian’s responsibility is more then just reading the bible. It’s actually praying like you mean it, going to church and enjoying it, telling people about God with a whole heart, telling yourself about Him in a joyous manner, and telling the world you love the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, in an unembarrassed way! Helping out people is probably the most important job of being a Christian, because through you, God shines in the world. Openly, obediently, and obstinately share His word; it’s your responsibility as a Christian! As a Christian, we still have more verses to memorize, more praying with a whole heart to do, and more telling to be told. When someone memorizes a verse every week, they will have hundreds if not thousands of verses memorized! Triumphantly and thrillingly dash over it the mountain and CAUSE IT TO MOVE! Telling that mountain to glide, and memorizing verses, sure does bring us way closer to God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, if... we do it in a pleased, joyous, and respectful heart! Because of the responsibilities, Christian work harder than non-Christian. Cheerfully, briskly, and deliberately people should serve the Lord. He deservers you love! Sometimes...

...Fr. Luc Mees, it's different and difficult than I knew before. Moreover when I have to write this paper according to your guide line questions such as; what is religion, why study religion? why is it important to study religion? etc. or other way to say; what did you learn or understand about religion? by say about it without using theology. It’s more difficult. However it is very interesting and challenging to write it. What is religion? I would like to begin my answer to this question with a story that I had heard when I was a teenager and I really like it; There was a young man who resisted, denies and did not believe in any religion. He said religion...

Tip: You could review and then write down all the similar statements you make. Then in that list, cross out the ones that don’t empower, writing next to them the opposite of your previous disempowering commands. Then take time to work to change your habitual thoughts and automatic programs to match and grow your new desired realities. ...No Money, No Looks, No Love: Social Class in “Sarah Cole: A Type of Love Story” Social class and appearance are very big factors in today’s world. They are also two very important factors of success and social status within society. Your look and your appearance say a lot about yourself in life today. It’s sad but true. In the story “Sarah Cole: A Type of Love Story,” author Russell Banks does a wonderful job of showing us inequalities between two very different individuals, Ron and Sarah. These characters are complete opposites in the story and come from two totally different ways of life. Social class plays a key factor in analyzing this story because you get why Ron is the way he is and why he does what he does in the story. Ron is a wealthy lawyer who is without a doubt much more successful than Sarah Cole. Banks describes Ron as good looking, tall, and perfectly figured. Ron is a character in the story with a very high social class standing and position. Sarah however is not attractive at all according to Ron and from what the reader can tell, she does not have very much money as a TV guide maker and holds a low social class position in accordance to Ron. From reading the story I can tell that Ron has control of the situation and the relationship from the beginning and throughout the story. Banks does a wonderful job of moving back and forward from different points of view to show us why Ron has a hard time telling this story as it is. Ron has a hard time being objective...

...Why I am Thankful What being thankful means to me is to see everything as a gift from God. I see my very life as a gift from God, and I am so thankful just because he lets me wake up every day. He has always provided for me with everything that I need so I never need to worry because he takes care of me. I am so thankful that my parents can afford to pay for my school, for my teachers, and for my close friends. I thank God for helping me get through my struggles. I thank God for the loving family I have. I have so much to be thankful for. My life wouldn't be the same without the people that have shaped and molded my character. They have helped me succeed, and for that, I am thankful. I think it is important to be humble, and remember all of the people that helped me get to where I am, whether it's my parents, my siblings, my close friends or even God. Being thankful is being able to not focus on the hardships of life, and instead acknowledging everything in my life that has made it better. I am thankful to God and my family, and my friends, and even my teachers for helping me improve my life. Being thankful to me is appreciating everything God has given me. I think it means counting all of my blessings and being grateful for all the wonderful things in my life. Being thankful to me means stopping to realize I have a wonderful supportive family as well as really good friends who care and love me very much. I am glad to know I have so many wonderful and loving people in...

...Thanksgiving. The reason why I chose thanksgiving is not because of all the wonderful food, rather all the cherished memories that are spent with family and close friends. Every time November comes around I always check off the days until Thanksgiving. It’s very thrilling waiting until November 22. To keep my mind off Thanksgiving I usually keep my focus on other upcoming events. I really enjoy Thanksgiving because of the fact my whole family comes over and spends the entire day at my house. It’s a very rare moment when a large number of family members come over and spend time with each other; it almost feels as it’s a little family reunion. The morning of thanksgiving I always wake up to the scent of my mother’s magnificent food. All the televisions in our house are also all tuned on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. The funny thing is every thanksgiving is the same. It’s almost as though it’s a tradition. After I get up from bed I tell my parents and brother happy thanksgiving. After greeting my family, I see all the food being prepared. All the food looks and smells wonderful at this point. I help my mom set the table, after everything is ready an hour goes by, my family members slowly start to show up. Since I have a big family and a small house, the space gets pretty limited but it doesn’t stop anything from continuing. We Ethiopians are known for making space for others. We are very considerate people. So, once everybody is in and situated we all begin to pray; usually...

...year...30 days a month...7 days a week...24 hours a day...60 minutes an hour...but only one like you in a lifetime. There are two reasons why I wake up in the morning: my alarm clock and you. Great minds contain ideas, solutions and reasons; scientific minds contain formulas, theories and figures; my mind contains only you! Love can be expressed in many ways. One way I know is to send it across the distance to the person who is reading this. If I could change the alphabet, I would put U and I together! Minsan caring is better than loving. Minsan tea is better than coffee. Minsan smile is better than laughter. Pero nobody is better than you. There is night so we can appreciate day, sorrow so we can appreciate joy, evil so we can appreciate good, you so I can appreciate love. You look great today. How did I know? Because you look great everyday. What is love? Those who don't like it call it responsibility. Those who play with it call it a game. Those who don't have it call it a dream. Those who understand it call it destiny. And me, I call it you. What is love? It is what makes your cell phone ring every time I send text messages. If love can be avoided by simply closing our eyes, then I wouldn't blink at all for I don't want to let a second pass having fallen out of love with you. I used to think that dreams do not come true, but this quickly changed the moment I laid my eyes on you. Press down if you miss me. Talaga? Sweet mo naman. You really...

...There are so many wonderful reasons why someone chooses to become part of the helping field. For me, it’s because I have a big heart and helping others bring me joy. I love helping others. I have no clue where it came from. I was born to druggies and became a mom at two years of age to my brothers and sisters. So taking care of others is all I have ever known. I tried twice to leave this field and I ended up getting injured. Helping others is what I do best and it is what I love, it’s who I am. My peers also choose the helping field for reason of their unique own. Jason Hudson has a lot to bring to the human service field with his background, his medical background (from the Army) can help him better understands a person’s needs and wants. Jason chooses to leave the medical field and switch to human service due to getting burnt out. Jason can also relate to those who need help from human services because in his past. There was a time in his life where he needed help. Having had help in the past, Jason is able to see the flaws in this field and can better help others void the hassle when getting services. Nicole Brandenburg chose the human service field because it is something she is passionate, energetic and empathic to those who really need help. She has a caring heart. It also brings her great excitement to help others. ...far away, sometimes it appears at times when we least expect it. There are times in life when everything just falls apart and we can do nothing to stop it. We look at all these bad choices and say that they are stupid. Nobody is perfect. Everything happens, everything breaks one time to another. Then there comes a time when we start to dream. We take other paths, there again, it helps us straighten the walls we build. There comes a time where you must choose, Continue or just give up. Many continue, others invent a better life and others leave, they plunge into alcohol, drugs, and eventually find themselves stuck in a worse position. Some of them manage to escape, others get stuck and end up buried alive. The world lives with Hope, dreams and goals. When Hope goes, happiness goes too. As a result, when you stop dreaming, you stop living… Dreams give a certain hope, courage that luck is out there and not everything is black and white. The concept of a dream refers more broadly to the idea of an "imaginary production" or "ideal", which gives us reasons to live and gives us goals and objectives .
