Why Does Everyone Seem to Love Bull Riding?

There are people everywhere who love going to or participating in the rodeo. One of the most favorite events is the one that takes only 8 seconds. It is the bull riding competition and for some reason, everyone enjoys watching to see how long a man can ride on his bull. For others, those who actually ride on a bull, it is a truly challenging sport. There are rules that they must follow and every year there are little boys who want to grow up and ride bulls. Those who do not enjoy watching a man successfully ride a bull for 8 seconds may wonder why is appealing. The answer is, in many ways, because it is controversial and entertaining all at the same time.

...about a cowboy doing what he loves most. In the 1994 film entitled, 8 Seconds, one should stop and analyze all the elements from the story that was told to the overall textual themes that showed why this film was truly a heartwarming experience through the life of Lane Frost. All directors have a story to tell through a film being created. He or she will use either a chronological order or a non-linear order to help guide the audience through the story. Goodykoontz & Jacobs (2011) states, “Most movies follow a standard chronological order, which means that events in the movie’s plot follow the same order they would occur in the story, the order of real time” (p 2.3). John Avildsen, the director of 8 Seconds, used a chronological order to escort the audience through Lane’s life from the time he was a young child riding sheep at the fair to a world champion bull rider. The story starts in 1968 as a kid trying to hold on for dare life in a sheep riding contest at the local fair somewhere in Oklahoma. Immediately following this scene, the director takes us to Lane riding bulls in the All Teen Rodeo Championships; which Frost wins first place after riding a bull for eight seconds. After the early years of learning the techniques of riding bulls from his father he begins his journey through life as he becomes the greatest bull rider of all time. As Lane's legend and fame increases, so does the amount of pressure he puts on himself, to be what everyone wants him to be, and he wants...

Water for Elepahnts

...Too Much Love? “Water for Elephants” is a film based off the novel written by Sarah Grusen. The movie follows people through their life struggles. It has three main characters; Jacob, August, and Marlena, who struggle with figuring out who they want to be. This story starts out with an older man wandering around the grounds of the circus after the show was over. Everyone came to the conclusion that he had been separated from his nursing home group that had attended the circus earlier that day. The man claims to have been a part of one of the most infamous circus groups ever known. He sits down and begins to tell his story. His story starts out with Jacob finding out that his parents were killed in a car accident. This left him with no money and no place to live. Many events take place that lead him to working as a vet, under an unstable boss. His boss, August, has a tendency to have violent outbreaks toward people and animals when things don’t go the way he had planned them. Many of the other workers had said that August was very possessive over his wife Marlena. You really grasp this concept when you see the scene where August beats the elephant after an act where Marlena was hurt. This makes you realize that Jacob falling in love with Marlena is not a good idea for anyone. August loves her so much that he will not let anything or anyone come between them, not matter what he has to do. There were many scenes from TV shows, sitcoms, and movies that I thought about writing...

...confirmed bachelor and bull rider who lives out of a suitcase. The next, he’s the single dad of a baby he didn’t know existed. Now back in his hometown, everyone remembers the tragedy that changed his—and Sophie Cooper’s—lives forever. He desperately needs Sophie’s help with little Lucy. But spending time with Keeton seems to remind Sophie of all she lost. She won’t get close to another bull rider. Yet one sweet baby girl has her own way of bringing two hearts together. “What am I going to do with her, Sophie?” Keeton asked. “I’d say the same thing parents have done with babies for hundreds of years. Take her home and raise her.” “I’m a bull rider. I’m on the road almost fifty percent of the time. I’m living in a house that isn’t even livable.” Bull rider. That reminder had Sophie stepping back in her car, away from him, away from the tug on her heart and back into her shell. “Yes, well, I’d say you’d better get it livable.” “You could help me.” “I did. I changed the nastiest diaper in the history of diapers.” She glanced at her watch. “I’m late.” “We have to talk about the land.” “Later.” “Dinner?” He leaned in, holding tight to Lucy. “Nope. I don’t date bull riders.” She started her car and reached to close the door. He stood there, not moving. “I’m not asking you out.” Ouch. That hurt a little, for some crazy reason. “Good, I’m not accepting.” “Fine, I’ll see you later,” he said with a grin. Books by Brenda Minton Love Inspired Trusting...

...because the bear was for sure that she had magic powers and was always trying to show them. I love how even though the chipmunk said “the bear had no powers, “she still believed in herself. I also think that the bear was able to show she did have powers by leaving the three marks on the chipmunks back. This reminds me of two kids maybe one older than the other saying they are stronger and fighting it out until one could prove it they were the stronger one. The second story is The Moose Wife. This is interesting to me because this is something that happens right now. Men and women get married and having kids. The man’s job might having him traveling a lot and for several days at a time. While on a trip he meets younger and more beautiful women and falls to temptation and starts a relationship with her. Then as times goes one he realizes after something happens with his new relationship that he had a relationship that was full of what he wanted and he left them. Then he tries to go back and sometimes the women say yes and other times she says no. This to me is a real story that so many people are going through these days. The third story is The Legend of Indian Corn. I really like this one because now a day we have some many people that don’t follow what everyone else does and has done for years. It shows that you can be different and you can still be just as productive as everyone else. That if you listen to your heart you can make it through anything might need a little help...

...poetry it is difficult to understand the meaning of numerous amount of it, if not all of the lines but this one was different as if it pertained to me. This poem made me feel rather sad and miserable because there are a lot of grievances that one may bring up about growing into an adult. Everyone always says how enjoyable your teenage years are, how invigorating the experience is to live life to the fullest and to enjoy it before it comes to end, but a lot of people may disagree. This analogy is incorrect to some extent because during the teenage years the average person is more or less confused, angry, stressed and unhappy which is what the poem reflects. I myself cannot wait till adulthood lingers around the corner. I find that certain problems arise during this time that keep you from doing the things you love and that this is absolutely the uttermost worst time to express yourself in many different ways. Some of things are not being strong enough for certain sports and so on. Even though this poem is gloomy it has a contented and joyful background since she/he has finally gotten over the period of distress and is now ready to go back to a normal life where every aspect in the body does not fluctuate every minute, “ It has rained drops big as silver coins, gold in the sun”. In this short quote the drops refer to the past tears that person has shed during that time, but is now covered up in a color of gold which is a newborn and happy time period known as adulthood.
