Fear of Heights

...The Climb I have this fear. It causes my legs to shake. I break out in a cold sweat. My heart starts beating a thousand miles an hour, and louder than a snare drum. I imagine my own funeral, then shrink back at the implications of where my thoughts are taking me. My stomach feels tight. My palms are clammy. I am terrified of heights. Of course, it’s not really a fear of being in a high place. Rather, it is the view of a long way to fall, of rocks far below me and no firm wall between me and the edge. Despite my fear, two months ago I somehow found myself climbing to a high place, while quaking inside and out. The ninth and tenth grade class had come along on a week long trip to Washington D.C. A place filled with so much history and culture. Our first stop on the trip was Gettysburg Pennsylvania. We were on the site looking at the battlefield where thousands of soldiers died in the most deadly battle of the Civil War. It was a chilling experience, standing in the place where so many deaths occured. We took the van around the battlefield, stopping every once in awhile, getting out, and checking out some of the main attractions of the battlefield. After eating our sack lunches within sight and sound of the spring, many of us wanted to make the climb up to a view tower that showed almost the entire battlefield from one spot. We knew others had done so on the previous trips, we had heard the stories. The first group said that it was the most amazing part of the Gettysburg...

Love

...between you and me, what I’m gonna do is ask him for one more minute then I’ll hug you as tight as I could and tell Death, “Let’s go. I’m ready!”  0102. I miss you not because you miss me but because you taught me how to feel the emptiness when you’re not here. I love you not because you love me but because you taught me everything I never knew existed before. 0103. When you leave, remember the place where you left me cause I’ll still be there waiting for you. But if you go back and I’m no longer there, it means that I love you too much so I went to search for you.  0104. It’s a risk having you cause it’s like stealing an angel from heaven. If I’d be punished for that, I’d rather accept it than give you back cause I know that I’d never have another you in my life again.  0105. I dreamed of a wedding of elaborate elegance, a church filled with flowers and friends. I asked him what kind of wedding he wished for, he said, “One that will make you my wife.”  0106. I’m not asking you to stay for the rest of my life, stay as long as you want. No why’s, no how’s, no but’s, no promises. Just stay. It’s more than enough.  0107. I’m not sure what I am to you and what we are right now but what really matters is you’re so damn special to me and I mean my life only for you. All I’m after is for you to know, you don’t have to feel the same. 0108. I may not be with you always but I promise you one thing. An Incessant Failures

...AN INCESSANT FAILURES COPYRIGHT 2012 WHERE IS THE REAL AUDREY? Neill Carlton has spent his life in the perpetual idea of getting dumped. But because of his one childish act, he was sent in a military school by his father and met enigmatic Audrey Griffith who stole his not-so-experienced heart and become a mystery. And after eight years of looking for her, Neill met the lovely Aimee Griffith who has the exact replica of Audrey and sure an enigma too. Urged down by their similar appearances, Neill was bound to discover the truth behind their mysteries… Introduction: Well, first of all, it's hard to narrate a story especially when a tragic music is stuck in your ears and the song tells about a girl wanting her guy back in her nonsense life when in fact I've never experienced having a girl, down-to-her-feet, longing for me to come back in her ingenious life. And then the next song saying that a guy asking for a lad's name and him confessing how the girl's beauty affected his innermost and now he's asking for a date and me not even a single thing experienced one of these and it’s kind of a routine. Anyway, this may sounds a little bit a bookworm of me but the truth is, I have read a hundred and twenty three books on how to win a girl's heart and with those incessant thoughts and words I have come to meet, none of it actually work. I don't know if I read the book cover quickly or didn't understand the selection really or getting dumped is just really...

Returing to School

...Instructor:  Allorah Wyman January 24, 2012 Returning to School There are so many reasons on why I returned to school that I don’t even know where to being. Or could it be the fact that I had a hard time when it came to graduating from high school and maybe I’m here to prove my family wrong. Maybe it my kids and wanting a better life for them then I had for myself. Or it could be the fact that I just want to be here. There are many reasons why I should be here. Returning to school was something that took a while for me to decide to do. Mainly because I said that after all I went through to leave high school that I wasn’t going back to school. I had to do night school, summer school, American school that’s where they mail you the work and you mail it back. And even went back to do a half semester the following year. So once I went through all that I said I was done with school. I was happy I did it, but it was all just a little much to be going through for a simple piece of paper. But after years of doing nothing and having a child I knew that I wanted to be something if not for me for her. Growing up I was looking for a role model and for some reason I just couldn’t find it. And then it felt like no time ever seem to be the right time and there was always a reason to put it off until the next time. Then having another child just made me come up with every other reason why I should do it. But still I wasn’t working and trouble seems to be the only thing that I could seem...

...the forest. When she heard a little roar from a Siberian tiger, just like her. “Who are you?” asked the stirpped Siberian tiger. “Well, I am Ayla! I’m a siberian tiger! Who are you?” happily replied Ayla. “I’m Shia, but if you are a Siberian tiger, why don’t you look like me?” questioned Shia. “I’m not sure. I was just born this way,” said Ayla. “You can’t be a siberian tiger! You don’t look like me and the rest of the Siberian tigers here in the Sikhote Alin Mountains,” Shia said. “I just look different. I’m happy I don’t look like the rest of the Siberian tigers here. That is what makes me unique,” said Ayla. Shia ignored what Ayla had to say and just walked away laughing and roared, “She thinks she is a Siberian tiger like the rest of us. She is a liar! Ha!” Ayla turned around and walked home gloomily. She went over by the pond by Mama. “Why such a long face?” asked Mama. “Some tiger named ‘Shia’ was making fun of me and the way I look. “She said that I’m not a Siberian tiger just because I don’t look like her and they rest of the Siberian tigers around here,” replied Ayla. Ayla took a drink from the clear pond. “You don’t have to look exactly like all of the rest of the Siberian tigers.” “You have a unique color. You just have more white than the rest of the tigers here with big and...

Empirical Research Methods

...End notes (if any). 7. References cited in the paper. By me Abstract: Here’s a one paragraph abstract summarizing my main argument and findings Introduction This is my research question / puzzle. This is why my research paper is interesting and important, and why your life won’t be complete until you thoroughly read this paper. Here is a brief sketch of how the paper is structured. Literature review This is what other people have written about this topic, and about other topics that are relevant. I’m going to make sure that I treat these researchers with respect, and that I present their work in the fairest light that I can. But I’m also going to tell you where I think they got it wrong or missed something important. Certainly I’m going to say why they can’t answer the research question or puzzle that I posed at the start. If they really can answer the research question adequately, then my paper is a bit redundant. Theory There is some sort of problem with the existing literature. Maybe the scholars got something wrong; maybe they forgot to consider something important; maybe their theories have been overtaken by events. Here is my new theory that explains everything that their old theories could explain, and is also able to answer my research question. I’m going to make sure that I outline my theory clearly and in a way that is empirically testable – that is, it...
