...Let me be clear that the fact that men are visually drawn to women does not make it okay to engage in lustful looks. It is not a wise practice for any man who wants to protect his marriage, and in many cases it can be an issue of sin. Jesus said that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has committed adultery with her in his heart (Matthew 5:27-28). So while your husband is likely being honest when he says he has no intention of doing anything beyond looking, the act of looking can still be a problem, especially if he is replaying it in his mind later. Not only that, but in his situation he is not even trying to be discreet about it when you’re around, and that is cause for concern. If he freely looks when you are with him, how bold is he when you are not present? 1) Whenever we go anywhere, could be a reception, stores, etc ( basicly anywhere there are other people) he looks/stare at girls/women.. I have been married for 8 years and been talking to him about this ever since. I have asked him several times not to do it, that it bothers me. He says he likes to look, that everyone is different. The next time I caught him staring, I told him you can stare all you want when I am not there, just don't do it infront of me, .. I sometime ignore him but not all the time... it really hurts me.. For eg. we were doing grocery shopping the other day when he saw this girl and he looked/stare at her, its like she had a magnet on her body.. He couldn't help looking.. He is looking at...

...and it violates the civil rights of men, women, and children around the world. Let us just say that it is your wedding night, the whole day was perfect you think you married the man of your dreams and you are very happy and in love. The time has come to start your honeymoon, and you and your husband have decided to take a beautiful vacation. You finally get to your hotel room and you are getting ready to make it official and consummate your marriage. You husband has a request though, he asks you to watch a porno with him before bed? You are wondering what, we just got married, and why would he be asking you this. He never asked you to do this before; you did not even realize that he watched this stuff. You think to yourself how any person can watch this it is disgusting. You think that is it morally and ethically wrong, it degrades women and to you it makes women look bad. You ask him why now after all this time he decides to watch pornography now. His answer to you is that he has always watched it but never told you, because he did not think what you thought of it. The utilitarianism in you wonders what the “concept for a person’s well-being, rights and...

...Instructor: Allorah Wyman January 24, 2012 Returning to School There are so many reasons on why I returned to school that I don’t even know where to being. Or could it be the fact that I had a hard time when it came to graduating from high school and maybe I’m here to prove my family wrong. Maybe it my kids and wanting a better life for them then I had for myself. Or it could be the fact that I just want to be here. There are many reasons why I should be here. Returning to school was something that took a while for me to decide to do. Mainly because I said that after all I went through to leave high school that I wasn’t going back to school. I had to do night school, summer school, American school that’s where they mail you the work and you mail it back. And even went back to do a half semester the following year. So once I went through all that I said I was done with school. I was happy I did it, but it was all just a little much to be going through for a simple piece of paper. But after years of doing nothing and having a child I knew that I wanted to be something if not for me for her. Growing up I was looking for a role model and for some reason I just couldn’t find it. And then it felt like no time ever seem to be the right time and there was always a reason to put it off until the next time. Then having another child just made me come up with every other reason why I should do it. But still I wasn’t working and trouble seems to be the only thing that I could seem...

...subject of much debate, and perhaps may never be answered for certain. It is certain, however, that at the present time, ethical relativism is in general accepted as the standard. Although I realize that given the fact that the best of philosophers have failed to give solid arguments for either ethical relativism or ethical absolutism will most likely be unable as well, however that is not my goal. Rather my purpose is simply to make us question the ethical relativism to which we have become so accustomed, and to demonstrate some reasons why ethical absolutism may be correct. We all know that people, in general, treat ethics as being subjective. Does that, however, make that right, just, and ethical? To put it simply, the answer is: no. This is obvious given the common example, "if all the other kids were jumping off a cliff, would you do it too." The masses are not always right. So now the thought in all your minds is "come on - go ahead! Prove us wrong." I'm not trying to prove anything, however I will hopefully give you enough information to make you question what is right, and if I do, then I've accomplished my goals. Lets begin with the basics. "What are absolute ethics?" Ethical Absolutism, is undeviating moral discipline. Nothing is relative; a crime is a crime, regardless of circumstances. For a quick demonstration of ethical relativism let us use the example of murder. Is it ok to kill someone without reason? Obviously both ethical standpoints would say no. Now lets assume...

...Would you like to modify your baby? Make him have blue eyes and blonde hair? Is it right or wrong? It’s wrong to genetically modify your baby, for many reasons .First reason, it goes against people's beliefs and religions. You believe In God? Well if you do you will definitely think that genetically modifying babies is wrong. Why? God created everyone differently. He created everyone for a specific reason. What happens if you modify your baby? It is like playing God. Why you may ask? You're modifying your baby and changing him/her for life. You and the people who are performing the process are guilty actually changing what God’s plan is for someone. No one has the right to alter plans for someone that already has a destiny....

...relations techniques to take advantage of large masses of people. As a result, public relations has established itself as the most effective form of persuasion due to its insidious nature, convincing people to believe lies, support unjust wars, and fall for other deceptive agendas” Aris Jameson from helium.com. The people decide whether something or someone has a good or bad reputation, even if they were fooled to believe so as Jameson explains. The people choose between what is good or bad, right or wrong, and moral or unmoral. The people are the deciding factor for everything, they can make change, make or break a business, decide what the trend is, and other common things. Public views can be disputed on so many subjects, for that purpose in this essay the main focus will be on the public image of tank-tops used in Smith’s article. “The name is the issue. For they are known as “wife-beaters.””(Smith). The public image for tank-tops are negative because people have given that type of particular clothing a terrible image of a “wife-beaters”. Smith states why the public image is important, how is it decided if it is wrong or right, and what are the effects to inform the results of a public image given to the intended subject. The public image is very important because it is the deciding factor for everything. People choose from what they wear, to what to they buy. But when the public view is put into play they can change everything. In a funeral the...

...REYES, Joselle Marie R. June 4, 2013 HUMALIT C37 On Hearing Her Play the Harp Discussion Questions 1. Upon reading Li Tuan’s poem, I had to reread it over and over in order to create a more vivid picture in my mind. I then started to visualize that the woman, as white as the snow on her window pane, was holding a harp. She is in a room with high ceilings, like the ones we see in a palace in Chinese movies, filled with beautiful art such as sculptures, jars, and paintings. The room is laid out with wooden floors which are more or less being polished daily by the helpers since it could almost reflect the light which passes through the windows. The room also has a tall window which leads to its balcony, overlooking a meadow and a lake. On one side of the room is a couch which is rather uncomfortable to sit on since it is not that soft but it is covered with a beautiful golden canvas intricately embroidered with flowers and leaves. In front of the couch is a red wooden coffee table which beautifully accents the lightness of the colors of the room and the couch. The lights coming through the window were reflected by the precious vases made of china placed on the edges of the room. A small trace of steam is escaping through the spout of a white teapot sitting on the coffee table. Beside the teapot is a small cup filled with hot tea. The room she is in is so grand, maybe because she is of royal blood, or maybe because she is playing the harp for Chou Yu. I really...

...Success often appears to be measured in only dollars. The claim that “greed is good” seems to reflect the behavior of many people in our society. Indeed, the desire to possess more and more seems pervasive—and business, like other institutions, reflects the values, beliefs, and personal goals of our society. Time, Newsweek, the Wall Street Journal, and countless other magazines and newspapers have called attention to unethical practices, bemoaning the “sleaze, scandals, and hypocrisy”1 undermining our moral bearings. In short, there is a great deal of concern about ethics in general, and business ethics in particular. This reading will examine what ethics is and how people decide what is “right” and “wrong.” The word ethics has a number of meanings. Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary gives several definitions of ethics, including: ● the discipline dealing with what is good and bad and with moral duty and obligation ● a set of moral principles or values ● a theory or system of moral values 2 ● the principles of conduct governing an individual or a group. Ethics, in all of these definitions, is concerned with right or wrong behavior. This reading focuses on the discipline or study of ethics. 1. THE DISCIPLINE OF ETHICS This discipline consists of the examination and evaluation of actions, social practices, institutions, and systems to determine whether and why they are good or bad, right or wrong, and whether they should be promoted or reformed—in short, whether particular actions...

...explain all we see in the universe. The process of evolution which began with the big bang started the universe and all that is within it. Theists see the world full of design and order and believe it came about through an intelligent creator. Atheists do not believe in God because they have not seen clear proof that he exists (McCloskey, 1968). In his article “On Being an Atheist”, H. J. Mccloskey explains why he believes that God does not exist. The theist believes that an intelligent creator is the best explanation for all that we experience in the universe. Personal experience leads many to begin to think about God. Some wonder about the purpose of their life; while others might be struggling reasons for pain and suffering. It helps to believe that our pain and suffering are for some ultimate purpose and that eventually some good can come from it. Faith in God can be arrived at intelligently through reason. We may not be able to prove that God exists but there is convincing evidence to believe he does. We shouldn’t be afraid to ask questions about what we believe and why we believe it. Our answers will help to strengthen our own faith and give others something to think about. If something is worth believing, it is worth defending. The cosmological argument concludes that everything in the universe depends on something else for its existence. McCloskey in “On Being an Atheist” concedes that there is a power behind the universe. He however, does not see this power as a necessary...

...movie the money ball and argue on both sides why it was good and also the bad side to using the system and how are the tactics for it to work. Basically its to see if the system is good to use for analyzing people and see if it’s a good way to build a team around it with a computer and making the team better. Thesis Statement The main argument im trying to point out is if the statistic system would work or not because it has been done before in reality and has worked so the way to look at both sides is to look from both points of views just to see how things are from both points of views on how the system doesn’t work and also how it does work, and then state your opinion on why it does or doesn’t work and explain. 1st Major Point I believe that the system does work because since it was used before to help develop a team by Billie Beane to make the Oakland A’s, a really good team because they calculated all the things they would need to get runs batted in to get people on base from the statistic system from a computer and Billies helper the one who made it possible to use it in a technological way which obviously seemed to work. So the system became so successful that the A’s went on a 20 game win streak until they got to the playoffs. 2nd Major Point I disagree that the statistic system doesn’t work is because sometimes you can’t base your team off of what a computer tells you based on stats because computers can be wrong sometimes and its not really a reliable source...

...Battling Discrimination at Work Discrimination at work is unfair. The reason why is because everybody is a human being and everyone should be treated equal. Companies don’t always get the best workers because they tend to pick what they think will work, when in reality if they took the time to study them they would realize how the person works and or who they really are. First of all everyone should be treated equal because everyone is the same, some people might be short, others tall, some skinny and some fat but that doesn’t matter because deep inside we are all the same. Also people should be treated equally so that everyone has the chance to do something in life. Some employers hire individuals based on their ability to get a job done. Some employers hire people based on their qualifications and their experiences concerning a particular job. However, there are employers out there that hire someone based purely on how the person looks. Whether it be based on their skin color, age, gender, or sexual orientation. Discrimination is everywhere no matter where we look, but it should stop because it is just not fair, everyone should be treated equal. Companies do not always get the best workers, they tend to go for the people who are good looking and people they think will bring more business and costumers. For example a lot of Mexican people come to this country to become successful and do something about their lives, but the system of the united states decides to block them...

...The problem of evil; if God is all good how could he allow his people to suffer? This has been a controversial topic many people have questioned over the centuries. The first record of this question is dated back to the Greek philosopher Epicurus. If God is a benevolent, omniscient and omnipotent God, how could he allow such horrible things to happen to good people? "Western religion has always held that there is a deep problem about why there is pain and other suffering—which there would not be if God were not supposed to be morally good" Richard Swinburne, Providence and the Problem of Evil pg.7 1998. It is only natural for people to question why God would seemingly do nothing to prevent the bad things that happen everyday. Some of the...

...ubyuhb hu b Under this form of ethics you can't justify an action by showing that it produced good consequences, which is why it's sometimes called 'non-Consequentialist'. The word 'deontological' comes from the Greek word deon, which means 'duty'. Duty-based ethics are usually what people are talking about when they refer to 'the principle of the thing'. Duty-based ethics teaches that some acts are right or wrong because of the sorts of things they are, and people have a duty to act accordingly, regardless of the good or bad consequences that may be produced. Some kinds of action are wrong or right in themselves, regardless of the consequences. Deontologists live in a universe of moral rules, such as: It is wrong to kill innocent people It is wrong to steal It is wrong to tell lies It is right to keep promises Someone who follows Duty-based ethics should do the right thing, even if that produces more harm (or less good) than doing the wrong thing: People have a duty to do the right thing, even if it produces a bad result. So, for example, the philosopher Kant thought that it would be wrong to tell a lie in order to save a friend from a murderer. If we compare Deontologists with Consequentialists we can see that Consequentialists begin by considering what things are good, and identify 'right' actions as the ones that produce the maximum of those good things. Deontologists appear to do it the other way around; they first consider what actions are...

... 1 Is Ethics Natural or Learned Behavior? N. Rodriguez PHI 200 Philosophy Mind and Machine Instructor Yelena Gidenko June 3, 2013 ETHICS 2 Is Ethics Natural or Learned Behavior? Ethics is the philosophical study of good and bad, right and wrong. It is commonly used interchangeably with the word morality. It differs from other aspects of philosophy in being more concerned with what should be than with what actually is. What my understanding is about Ethics? Is that some say ethics has to do with what a person’s feelings are telling them what is right and wrong. Some say it has to do with their religious belief. Others believe that ethics coexist with the requirements of the law or what are societies deems expectable. All very good answers to what ethics is. At least what it means to some individuals. Is a person born with ethics? Just as soon as you’re able to form thoughts, are you also determining what good morals are and what are bad? Or are they thought through love and compassion from your families and elders. Actually ethics is a fairly new concept in human development. Because you cannot call a slave keeping society “ethical”. Is ethics taught? I think so. In times of war mass amount of people are killed and looters take what they want in times of riots. If ethics were natural it would be...
