In 1840 Mary Surratt got married to John H. Surratt. They had a child named John Jr. He was the one who should have been hung instead of his mother. He became a well known confederate spy. John Jr. Surratt drank a lot with Booth and most likely talked about the plan to kill their president, Abraham Lincoln.
