...Why you chose to enter The Helping Field Milvia Follingstad, Bobbie Wilson, Joanna Piasecki BSHS/ 305 April 6, 2015 John West Why you chose to enter the helping field Why Professionals Choose to Enter the Helping Field. Professionals that choose to enter the helping field are normally mature, sympathetic and, established individuals who help others through interesting conditions. They receive a sense of approval when they help people in need. The tasks in the helping professions are massive, but in numerous cases, the incentives are important. These professionals provide both direct and indirect services to people in need. Some people chose to enter the helping field because many people around have children with disabilities or dysfunctions within the home and want to make a difference with them, helping them to have that support of the ones that have had the same experience. By learning more of how to help them and to find the best way to support them we can help many of the families around to understand what they are going through as well as learning techniques to help themselves with their child or children. Some professionals have actual personal experiences with family of people with different issues. All of these aspects of life have given professionals the motivation to become a worker in the helping field to help those needing help. When in need, we should be able to ask for help and be treated with respect; instead we have seen the opposite...

...Helping Field Summary Lynda McCarthy, Charline Meeks, Debbie Warnke, Marcial Wiggins BSH/305: Historical Development of Human Services: An Introduction August 31, 2014 Mary Newhams Why Professionals Choose the Helping Field Written by Debbie Warnke I believe the reason professionals choose the helping field is because of a sense of accomplishment and the idea of being able to make a difference. Many human service professionals refer to this type of work as a “calling” and having the ability to show an individual or family how to become self-sufficient is a satisfaction that only someone in the helping field can describe. Why Choose the Helping Field Many of the individuals in the helping field are known as “idealists.” They have what is known as a NF (iNtuitive /Feeling) temperament. This temperament gives an individual a sense of purpose and they are known to be more creative, more empathetic, and have a tendency to focus on feelings more than facts. An individual with the NF temperament are often impatient with the business world, policies, and procedures, and are more likely to focus ultimately on the bottom line ( Myers, et al.,1998). Other reasons professionals chose to enter the helping field is because they know someone with a mental illness or addiction, they have other family members that are in the same/similar field, they like to help people that are in high risk situations such as substance...

The money isn't as good as some other fields, but the field is definitely one of the more interesting and exciting ones. Growing up, every child wanted to be a police officer or something dealing with the Police enforcement. I was one of those children who played cops with all of their siblings and overall just loved policemen. As i grew older, things began to change because I started to notice the dirt that cops can do and also the good in police enforcement. Through personal experiences with my family, and also myself i grew to hate policemen and their work. This only began to motivate me to do the right thing in my community which is help someone in need. I began getting involved in as many programs as i could that would get me one step closer to living my dream. I feel that I am a step closer now than i ever was. I am not majoring in Criminal Justice to become a police officer anymore, I am now...

...I plan on bringing my love of nursing research into my NP practice to increase the quality of care that patients are receiving. I consistently read the updates to nursing practice, specifically “best practice,” because my patients deserve these proven techniques. I currently feel limited in what I am able to do to help my patients increase their health and longevity, but as a Nurse Practitioner I would have more opportunity to prevent and educate. I want to do more to help my patients and I know that the only way to expand that passion is by furthering my degree. The people I care for are extremely important to me and helping them is why I chose to enter the nursing field in the beginning. My nursing experiences have reinforced a strong interest in disease process, diagnosis, and treatment on a holistic level; though under the scope of my current practice, I am unable to provide this type of care. The Nurse Practitioner program will allow me to broaden that aspect of nursing and help my patients in ways that I never imagined when I first started this journey. The famous quote from Florence Nightingale comes to mind when I reflect on my nursing experiences and the impact I can make on the quality of patient care; “Nursing is an...

This paper will discuss the skills and characteristics and the definition of the two which are essential in this field, as well as the writer’s skills and characteristics that will lead to a successful career as a Human Service Professional. According to "Merriam Webster" (2014) the definition of characteristic is “a special quality or trait that makes a person, thing, or group different from others” (characteristic) Working in the Human Services field can be a very stressful and over whelming job for many people. I believe that there are people that were born to help others and those that have been taught to be caring and compassionate. While not every person is cut out to be on the front line of this field, those that are become very skillful people. It takes a special person to be willing to give up their lives and time to help others and to not make a lot of money is a characteristic he or she has naturally. This group of individuals has a unique personality that is not learned or handed out to everyone. The people that work in the Human Services field are a special group of people that help to make our current world a better...

...always been taught in my house. One of the main ideas about Christ I believe many people miss that He truly accepts all people. You must accept Him as well, in order to enter the kingdom of heaven, but His love reaches no bias and shows no prejudice. He loves all who have been made in his Father’s image, even if the love is not shown back. According to Luke 35:6 NIV, “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked”. He will love and accept the homosexual prostitute with as much easy and tolerance as he does the Baptist preacher. He teaches love, tolerance, healing and help. To me, the healthcare field has incorporated these teaching that I have grown up with into an area of practice I can work. For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be in the medical field, a veterinarian to be exact. As I grew up and no longer saw the world though the innocent eyes of a child I began to see the major bias the world held. For every “pro animal” project I’d see far less for humans. I began to see that people were more concerned with protecting animals than children. Our society places animals on a pedestal that is equal to humans if not higher. I knew wanted to stay in the medical but began to shift my sight on helping people, that’s why I became a nurse. Heather is fantastic. Being from a conservative background...

...as the last remaining superpower. America’s military strength undoubtedly provides its people some comfort with respect to their country’s defensive capabilities. In contrast, many societies view America’s desire for military strength as a means to impose its will on others and to freely enter into conflict in order to preserve its dominion over others. Critics believe this was the case in the First and Second Gulf Wars. However, most Americans support a strong military with a more altruistic motive than status or power over others. They fully support America’s response to events such as the Haitian earthquake and the Indonesian tsunami. Americans view their military power as an important aspect of society to insure safety, world stability, fairness in the global market, and the advancement of humanitarian activities. Critics of America believe that American leaders are obsessed with strengthening their military in order to strengthen their own power. They feel that America wishes to use its military might to coerce other nations to follow American edicts. They attempt to support their contentions, regarding America’s thirst for military dominance over others, by asserting that America enters into wars, such as the First Gulf War in 1990-1991, in order to dominate other countries. In the case of the First Gulf War, America’s critics state that America sought to preserve Kuwait’s oil fields for American consumption. It is a likely assumption that Kuwait’s overall friendly relations...

...Supreme Court and its justices. It wasn’t until 1912, that the district courts became exercised and became the new federal trial courts replacing the circuit courts as original jurisdiction. Circuit courts became known as federal court of appeals. They no longer have the right to try a case first, which is now the district courts role in the judicial system. With 13 circuit courts and 93 federal judicial districts the two courts make up most of the judicial system in our country. That’s why it is imperative that we know the differences and the similarities between each court. After observing both courts for about 5 or so hours, I really came to understanding how both worked. When you do field research such as court observation, there are so many different factors that come into play when you are observing. Some of the things that you might be observing is the overall atmosphere of the court room, the judge, other court room actors, cases or proceedings, defendants, and legal issues. What I chose to mainly observe was the...

...Introduction The theories of psychology can be observed throughout every aspect of daily life, in everything that we do. Whether in the classroom or a social gather, different concepts and ideas can be applied to human behavior. As a student of psychology, it would be difficult to complete a degree without considering which of these theories align with your personal worldview. Thus, this paper will reflect my journey through the program, as well as my personal philosophy towards the field of psychology, specifically to the theory of humanism. The application of this theory to my future career and goals, professional and personal, will also be discussed. Theoretical Perspective Humanists believe that humans are inherently good by nature and have the free will to make choices that shape the person you become. According to humanists, genetics and unconscious forces do not shape a person. Rather, a person’s choices and actions...

...Customer relationship management entails all aspects of interaction that a company has with its customers, whether it is sales or service-related. While the phrase customer relationship management is most commonly used to describe a business-customer relationship, CRM systems are also used to manage business contacts, clients, contract wins and sales leads. How CRM is Used Today CRM solutions provide you with the customer business data to help you provide services or products that your customers want, provide better customer service, cross-sell and up-sell more effectively, close deals, retain current customers and better understand who your customer are. ...establish a successful law firm. The turning point in the establishment of the modern law practices came about as a result of the high court decision by the U.S Supreme Court (Bates & O'steen V. State Bar of Arizona, 1977) in (Munneke, 2012, p. 4). It is worthwhile noting that the success in the Law firm requires a proper identification of a legal niche to practice in. According to Munneke (2012), the competition that the law practice faces from other professionals necessitates the careful niche selection to make a firm successful (Munneke, 2012, pp. 52, 151-152). Selection of a good legal niche also ensures that the firm can remain relevant in the market as it will be able to meet the needs of the selected clientele area. To look at why there is the need to have a careful selection of the niche of legal practice, then it is important to look at the statistics on the number of lawyers who are...
