”Respect...is appreciation of the separateness of the other person, of the ways in which he or she is unique”-Annie Gottlieb .Respect is important because it helps form relationships, if you respect others you will get respect back, and listening to someone even if you don’t agree with what the are saying and accept that they have their own opinion. Respect is needed in everyday life, that is how the world goes around...RESPECT.Relationships and respect go hand in hand, if you don’t have respect with your peers then no relationships can be formed, and this class is a leadership class and to be a leader you need respect. Respect is needed to form relationships because it really makes you appreciate that person as who they truly are and see them in a new light. MUTUAL RESPECT, it is just like when people say treat others the way you would like to be treated, so respect each other because what are you going to get out of not respecting others. Respect does more good than bad, if you just show someone that you are truly listening to what they are saying and that it is okay to state their own point of view and they will not get judged for believing something others do not. Really as long as you somewhat show respect like you seriously do not even have to like that person but you can at least respect them as a human being. “There is no respect for others without humility in one’s self”-Henri Frederic Amiel. When people present in class we should respect them by listening to what they are saying and not be on our phones and really pay attention to what they are talking

Respect & Discipline

...Respect & Discipline The definition of respect is showing a positive feeling of esteem for another person or entity. But, respect is not tolerance; it has to be a genuine feeling of honor and not just putting up with the other person. Respect is an important first step in building a relationship and I value my relationship with the Army. Respect is not something that is done when it is convenient, it is done at all times. The Army teaches this as part of the 7 Core Values for many reasons. Even though the Army teaches us that respect is something that is given to the ranks, it is important to have respect for every soldier that I am in contact with whether or not I like them and whether or not they are ranked above me, below me or with me. It is not about respect for the individual as much as it is about respect for the rank. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect but especially those I am serving my country with. We all have to be part of the same team and treat each other the same way we expect to be treated. It is what keeps us a strong and unified. By having our superiors teach us the value of respect, they are uniting us for when we have to do combat. We have to rely on fellow soldiers as well as our superiors and without respect we would not care about helping each other. I can not expect others to treat me with respect when I am not showing them the same. This is taught to us in boot camp and we are expected to maintain the 7 Core Values at all times without...

Respect

...citizenship (respect, responsibility, and resourcefulness) to your child which one would you teach and why? Although all three qualities of good citizenship are important to succeed in life, I believe respect outweighs them all. Respect is a quality that can be shown by the way a person behaves. Respect is an important quality because people can act in ways that do not reflect how they feel, the feeling of respect is more important than the behavior without feeling. The behavior will naturally follow when respect is present. Teaching a child respect is teaching them to consider other people feelings, needs, thoughts, wishes, and preferences. Also when a child learns to respect a person they learn to acknowledge a person along with being truthful and trustworthy. When a child has the quality of respect they will never have to use as much energy or resources to get their needs met. To have respect is to survive, so to teach a child respect is to help them succeed. Even though respect is earned it is still important to instill it in a child. Instilling respect in a child is teaching them to be loyal to others as well as obeying the rules and the land of the law. Respect also includes the idea of esteem or admiration. Having respected for a person is showing unspoken communication of how a child feels or views a person. Respect also helps build a strong and loyal relationship between people. For example, a child isn’t born with respect for adults, adults must earn a child’s respect by showing...

...surprised you? If so, what was it? Why were you surprised? If not, why not? No because rules are rules they must be followed in order to keep control and on track. Sometimes it maybe kind of hard to follow rules rather they are old or new rules. It’s just I am the type of person that to have balance you must have structure. For instance say your assignment is due today but for some reason you didn’t have time to complete it; so your instructor says you may have more time but, did not give a deadline. Just because there’s no deadline it may take you longer and just because there is no deadline you may decide not to do it at all. So this is why I as a student agree with the student code of conduct and the student code of academic integrity. What did you learn about the behaviors considered important for an ethical learner or student in the University of Phoenix learning community? I believe that, as a University of Phoenix student, I am expected to hold a high regard of respect to fellow classmates and professors. I am learning to become a professional adult, and I will need to become a respectful person. To gain respect, one must also give respect to others. Being open minded is an important aspect of respect. Listen to what people have to say and taking it into consideration. This is very important I think you get a better understanding and can deal with the situation better or shall I say approach the situation in a better way. Why are the Student Code of Conduct and...

Respect

...What Respect Is On a practical level respect includes taking someone's feelings, needs, thoughts, ideas, wishes and preferences into consideration. It means taking all of these seriously and giving them worth and value. In fact, giving someone respect seems similar to valuing them and their thoughts, feelings, etc. It also includes acknowledging them, listening to them, being truthful with them, and accepting their individuality and idiosyncrasies. Respect can be shown through behavior and it can also be felt. We can act in ways which are considered respectful, yet we can also feel respect for someone and feel respected by someone. Because it is possible to act in ways that do not reflect how we really feel, the feeling of respect is more important than the behavior without the feeling. When the feeling is there, the behavior will naturally follow. | |   Why It is Important Going back in time, respect played an important role in survival. If we think of a small tribe wandering in the desert we can imagine that a person not respected by anyone could be left behind and die. Such a person was considered to have no worth, no importance, no value to the group. This, I believe is the foundation of our psychological need to feel respected. Nowadays it seems much more possible to survive without being respected. Someone could, for example, inherit a large sum of money, have many servants and employees and have salesmen constantly calling on him and catering to him, yet not...

If so, what was it? Why were you surprised? If not, why not? There was not anything specific that stood out to surprise me. Codes of Conduct are something I am use to following in conducting the way I behave. We have a Code of Conduct for the barbers and stylist’s at the salon I work for. I have also had to follow a Code of Conduct at the hair school I used to attend. Although some of the Codes of Conduct are a little different in one way or another. They are following the same guidelines of respect, honesty and integrity. These codes are put in place to ensure we know the right way from the wrong way, reminding us to never take the quicker way, cheat, lie, or violate others rights. Dating, Friendship, and Cliques

...are a great support system in such a transitional part of our lives. We laugh alongside them, as well as suffer losses together. Most times our friendships are a positive aspect of how we define ourselves, but when friends become exclusive, it can seriously hurt those being left out. A clique is a group of friends that excludes certain people in a purposeful manner. There may be one or two controlling members who influence the rest of the group. This type of peer pressure can cause people to act differently or behave in an uncharacteristic manner. These actions can stem from insecurities or the desire to gain popularity. People feel more powerful by putting others down, but deep down it doesn’t help to tear down the self-confidence and respect of another. (Coping With Cliques 2). Girls have a tendency to form cliques more frequently than boys, but all members of a social community are affected by this kind of behavior. Often times teens will feel trapped in a clique or be afraid that if they speak up to stop things, the group will turn on them next. They take a passive approach to the situation in order to avoid being a victim. However, there is no true sense of belonging or trust and they may feel bad about their actions but fear rejection. (Mandel 6). In order to help better understand how to resolve the issue of a clique, it helps to talk to someone with similar experiences. Teamwork can push people to expand their skills and learn from one another in ways that might have never occurred had they not be placed on the same team. Teamwork also increases accountability. Pressure from peers is a powerful force.
