Do you really believe that we should have math in gym class? Gym class should be a fun place. It should be a place to exercise. It is also already being taught so why do we have to miss out on the fun. Reading and math should not be taught in gym class. teaching this is stripping children of good times, exercise, and over exhausting a subject.

The first reason that children shouldn’t learn reading and math in gym class would be that there would be no enjoyment of the class. On average, more people like going to gym than any other class. Well that’s one of the motivations for me going to school. Studies show that gym helps out with your social skills which get you more active and out there.

The second reason that math and reading shouldn’t

Dispairity in Our Schools

...the world’s income; and yet because of the difference wealth makes on people’s lives it is still something that everyone strives to have. The reason everyone strives so hard to gain wealth is because of the fact that if you have money you can better your own and your family’s life. In many countries including here at home in the United States there is a growing gap between the wealthy and the poor and nowhere is this disparity seen more than in the quality of education received by wealthy and poor students. Not only is there a growing gap here in the United States between its own citizens, but there is a growing gap between wealthy and poor nations as well. The growing gap between the rich and the poor is only going to continue to expand as more and more technological advancements are made by wealthy countries. This means that crime rates are only going to increase along with these advancements. The disparity in education between wealthy and poor students is unbelievable. I have seen the difference in education first hand as I grew up which is why I have chosen to write about the inequality in the quality of education received between rich and poor children. When I was younger I went to an inner city school and compared to the school that I graduated from it was nothing. My elementary school that I went to did not even have a music class and the high school that I graduated from had its own wing designated just for music and band. This is an issue that until No Child...

Innovated Learning Essay

...your mind to embrace your gifts should be stressed a lot more in the high school curriculum. In today’s society, as you get older, your original sense of your childhood creativity begins to disintegrate. We become unwilling to use our capabilities out of the fear of being wrong. As you get older the basic school subjects of math, science, literature, and history are defined and expanded on in learning then using one’s personal creativity. Most education leaders push students to use their methods in order to become successful in the student’s education. Unfortunately most students miss out on what their creative aspects in which can make them successful down the line. Speaker, Ken Robinson, demonstrates a great speech that indicates that society needs to be stressing creativity just as much as your typical education. “Children are all artist”, says Ken Robinson. We as humans are naturally born with a sense of imagination. When children are first learning how the world works, they will creatively think of reason why it works the way it does. For example when you are first teaching a child about subjects like religion and the weather we may come up with or they come up with things like thunder is God going bowling. These reasons make for a less scary idea, and also provide children sense of knowing, and containing knowledge. A child’s favorite word is always why. It becomes a lot easier for a child to creatively think of their own reasoning’s why when they imaginatively think of...

Line of best fit: y = 0.9148x +25.505 Analysis: 1. r = .14 little or no correlation 2. R^2 = 2% 2% of the variance in thrill seeking is accounted by tattoos. 3. Slope = 0.0196(m) For every 1 tattoo people have there is an increase we expected of 0.9148 in thrill seeking. Conclusion: Between these two variables, there are no correlations between the two. Stronger, Faster, Smarter

...giving his mind a comparable workout in his neuroscience and kinesiology lab at the University of Illinois. Nearly every semester in his classroom, he says, students on the women's cross-country team set the curve on his exams. So recently he started wondering if there was a vital and overlooked link between brawn and brains--if long hours at the gym could somehow build up not just muscles, but minds. With colleagues, he rounded up 259 Illinois third and fifth graders, measured their body-mass index and put them through classic PE routines: the "sit-and-reach," a brisk run and timed push-ups and sit-ups. Then he checked their physical abilities against their math and reading scores on a statewide standardized test. Sure enough, on the whole, the kids with the fittest bodies were the ones with the fittest brains, even when factors such as socioeconomic status were taken into account. Sports, Hillman concluded, might indeed be boosting the students' intellect--and also, as long as he didn't "take a puck to the head," his own. Hillman's study, which will be published later this year, isn't definitive enough to stand alone. But it doesn't have to: it's part of a recent and rapidly growing movement in science showing that exercise can make people smarter. Last...

Finn, Jr. and Amber M. Winkler In November 2010, Education Secretary Arne Duncan delivered a highly publicized address at the American Enterprise Institute. His message? Tough economic times lie ahead: “I am here,” he said, “to talk today about what has been called the New Normal. For the next several years, preschool, K–12, and postsecondary educators are likely to face the challenge of doing more with less.” Twenty months later, it’s clear that we are not yet out of the fiscal woods. Depressed housing values have meant lower property taxes for schools; voters have balked at passing local levies; federal “stimulus” dollars have dried up; health care costs for education staff (and everyone else) are ballooning; lock-step salary schedules and...

The young man went on to say that he does not even like this girl anymore nor does he talk to her. Debbie explained, that might be why she is saying the things she is saying. Debbie went on to tell this young man that she knows they are maturing and hormones are starting to kick in, but to remember that decisions he makes now could affect him the rest of his life. This young man promised to stay away from the girl and not say anything to his friends that could be misconstrued as talking about her in any way, he also stated that he understood what she meant by decisions made now could affect him for the rest of his life. Basically each year students have to improve better than last year’s students ultimately making the goal of 100% passing of the standardize tests a reality. This law is called the No child Left Behind Act. Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) is how the U.S. Department of Education determines the performance of every public school and school district in the country academically according to results on the standardized tests.
