Sex Before Mariage

...I know plenty of girls in high school with no job, no money, who have not finished their education, and have a child; this goes for guys also. And that makes me think; what happened to these young adults who had their whole lives ahead of them? The first thing that comes to my mind is sex before marriage. Now sex is a wonderful thing if it is performed correctly and at the right time. But if you do it at the wrong time, or with the wrong person, or perform it incorrectly, it could be detrimental to you and even your partner. Most young people do not even recognize the consequences that come with having sex before marriage, and more importantly, having unprotected sex. Sex or no sex before marriage? I chose no sex because of my Christian values. I was raised by what the Bible says and it says that you should not have sex before marriage (1 Corinthians 7:2). Now why would it say do not have sexual intercourse before marriage even though it says it is a great thing between a man and woman? Maybe because there are more things unseen behind having sex. I think God said this to protect us from STD’s, hurting relationships, and just from emotional scars. God was not just trying hold out on the good stuff from us, he was protecting us from things seen and unseen that could be detrimental to us. This is why I choose to be celibate until I have found the lady I choose to spend the rest of my life with. I have a friend named Renica who has recently turned seventeen. She is a very beautiful...

Racism

...Last week after you gave us this assignment, you stepped out of the classroom for a moment and some of the guys in class started talking about their jobs and some of their co-workers being that they work at Honda a lot of their co-workers are Japanese, one of the guys referred to these workers as the “J” staff this offended one of the guys and he replied that the statement was racist, the guy that made the statement replied “ it can’t be racist if they call themselves that”, which started a small debate on the subject which lead nowhere, until one guy distantly connected to the original conversation replied “ well ….” Then he looked at me dropped his head and finished” that’s not always true”, I could guess where he was going to prove his point and why he decided to refrain for saying what was on his mind. Listening to this brief exchange made me think back to another conversation I overheard in an ITT classroom, during my second or third quarter I was making up some work and some guy were comparing Columbus and Hilliard ITT campuses when they referred to the Columbus campus as having too much “fried chicken” as they looked at me and laughed; not funny. Racism is defined Webster’s dictionary as the belief that a particular race is superior or inferior to another, that a person’s social or moral traits are predetermined by his or her inborn biological characteristics. That’s the dictionary’s definition but what is racism really? A lot of people say that racism no longer exist...

Struggle In The Film 'Miss Representation'

...from a young age, many of which I’ve sadly forgotten, like how beautiful, smart, and creative I am. It’s hard to remember the positives when nine-year old Cody said so many negatives. He told me that I was dumb, and I believed him because girls have to listen to boys, right? These are the things I’ve learned; I am fragile, I am weak, and I am incapable, but I do know one thing that I am not, and that is alone. I am a woman, and together we make up 50% of the population (disclaimer; so that the people who check off “other” for their gender do not yell at me, I am referring to the female sex, I didn’t assume your gender). Don’t get me wrong, I am no feminist, but we all struggle, some more...

Car Surfing

...going on in their head. I think it’s sick, and I don’t understand why young people want to do that. Car surfing is dangerous, and I think that YouTube has an effect on the young people. When they see these videos on the internet, they think they can do it too. They don’t think about the consequences, before some of their friends, who do it, die or getting hurt. I don’t think that we can blame YouTube for car surfing, and other stuff, but when young people see it, they want to do it. That’s it. If there were videos where people get serious hurt, they may will stop doing it. Young people must had it cut out of cardboard! Young people today do a lot off foolish things, but I think it’s a part of being young. Their behaviour is not all ways the best. They often drink to really much, and walk around in a fog. They do things like stealing food, cars and other things. They’ll fight, and they’ll beat up people they haven’t met before, and they just think it’s funny. There’s a lot of things young people do, there is really stupid. As I mention before, they steal. Stealing is a big thing, like car surfing is. They may do because they think they’re cool or something like that. They’re taking drugs, beside they are drinking, and driving, and May there’s sitting someone on the roof of the car. They are doing red neck surfing too. It’s when there is a car tyre, behind a car, with of rode, so it’s bound tight to the car. The guy in the car drive faster, and faster, meanwhile there’s someone...

To His Coy Mistress

...approaches- the historical-biographical and moral-philosophical approach. For me to have a better understanding about the poem and for me to use the four approaches, I looked for some information and the references are indicated at the last page of my paper. Andrew Marvell was a metaphysical poet usually focused on love and relationship with God. During the sixteenth and seventeenth century, the commonly used themes or motifs of literary pieces are about love, religion and the so-called Latin term carpe diem which means “seize the day”. Before we go on with the four approaches, let us first look into the text. So the literary piece is a lyric poem written in iambic tetrameter. The speaker is probably a young boy who is very passionate with his love to his “mistress”. I can say that he is a young boy in a way that he only wants to do all the things that they want to do and they must enjoy every moment passed by and they should not waste time because time is in a hurry, like in this lines: Had we but world enough, and time, We would sit down and...

The Man Who Loved Flowers

...The Man Who Loved Flowers The Man who loved flowers is short story about a young handsome man, who wants to surprise a girl named Norma by giving her some flowers. The story takes place in New York on a beautiful day in May 1963 where everything seems lovely, but it turns out that the young handsome man ends up killing a random girl, who he thinks is Norma, in a narrow lane in New York’s streets. The main character in The Man Who Loved Flowers is described as a handsome young in love. In the beginning of the story he seems like a guy whose life runs perfectly, he is suited up, he is in love and he just seems like a stand up guy “He was dressed in alight grey suit, the narrow tie pulled down a little, his top collar button undone. His hair was dark and cut short”. There is nothing suspicious about him. Stephen King tricks the reader into thinking that it is a perfect evening; maybe the young guy is going to propose to this Norma? “He reached into his coat pocket and touched something in there. For a moment his ace seemed puzzled, lonely, almost haunted, an then, as his hand left the pocket, it regained its former expression of eager expectation.” But when the young man finally meets this girl, who turns out not to be Norma, we find out that Norma has been dead for ten years. I believe that the young man ones has had a lover named Norma, who he thought was the only one but she died and he was forced to live on with that, but couldn’t accept it. Should Girls Ask Boys Out

...The argument whether girls should ask guys out emerged because of the advancement in the women society of the world in the 21st century. Those days are redeeming when it was a man’s job to court a lady and never the other way round. However, there are still territories where for many women it is a thrust to ask man out. This is happening either because of the tradition or perhaps just a bad case of nerves. Interestingly there are parts of the world where every day is a Sadie Hawkins day. Sadie Hawkins day is a day where women got to ask men out on dates (Scroggins, 2012). According to Mills (2012), “The tradition in dating has been for the guy to take the risk and ask the girl out, while the girl would just sit back and give the guy signals that she’s interested, or not.” Men used to be superior in relationships. They were the ones who used to go to work, support their family and take the important decisions of the family whereas in today’s world women are taking equal part in it in most of the cases. Clemons, J, J (2012) said, “Part of the change in females is the progression of the feminist movement. Women have more confidence. Women are becoming dominant in the workplace. They are no getting married as quick. They are not having kids. They also have begun out-numbering men in college.” Even though still the debate remains if girls asking boys out is legitimate or not. The only way to get something is ask for it. This rule applies just as much to relationships as it does...

The Man Who Loved Flowers

...have left the event is everything about them still normal? This is a story about a young guy from New York who to everyone seems normal guy who has found the love of his life, but actually is a grieving killer who kills woman when they tell him that they are not his soul mate Norma who died 10 years ago. This is Steven King’s “The man who loved flowers”. The story takes place in New York of May 1963, and the setting is very happy. The opening sequence tells us how everybody seemed to be smiling, the air was soft and beautiful, and that this was one of those nights where people who love the city would love this night. To add to the setting the main character is also very happy and very much in love. Because of the happy setting, you feel safe when you read it and you think of the main character as the “good guy”. His happy outer has en effect on the setting for example he makes the old woman at l. 13-17 p. 1, where because of the positive vibes he expresses makes her think of dancing and how spring is beautiful and so on. She begins to have happy thoughts. Even on l. 6 – 13 p. 2, when the radio is talking about how a lot of awful things are happening in the world it doesn’t change the mood, because the focus changes quickly to the surroundings, where two guys are ripping of each other. The main character and the narrator don’t care about the bad things that happens in the world and that’s why we don’t care about the bad things also. Later in the story the setting changes at...

...a social construct, born into existence by the pressure of tradition and the supremacy of the majority. This is true for our perceptions of "masculinity" and "femininity", and this point is driven home in "Bros Before Hoes: The Guy Code." In this essay on the assumed 'appropriate' behavior of men, Michael Kimmel points out the stereotypes men are taught to believe make them more manly. According to his interviews with various men from all over the country, the male social facade was put upon them by fathers, grandfathers, coaches, older brothers and other significant male role models to young boys. This essay showcases the power of role models and the influence of society. It...

Argumentative Essay Of Ben Simmons: Best Football Player

...Ben Simmons would seem like the best rookie coming into the league because of his numbers in the summer league and since he was the 1st overall pick, but he might not be. There are a number of other players who can become the leaders on their teams and dominate against other teams including Brandon Ingram, Jaylen Brown, Kris Dunn, and finally Tyler Ulis. Ben Simmons is going to rock the league with his unstoppable ability to drive to the rim, incredible passing ability, and finally his vision and basketball IQ. What will hurt Simmons the most, is the fact that he is on the worst team in the league. He will have to play with a young core with no real leadership. I think this will hurt him the most because he has no real solid core to fall back on and be able to thrive and win games with his team. I think he will individual become the best rookie in the league and win the Rookie of the Year, but he will not help out the 76ers side until maybe one to...

Positive Influences of Disney Princess

...Amber Falde Professor Harwood ENC 1102 8 October 2013 Positive influences of Disney Princesses While girls grow up they will look up to someone as a role model, whether it be a parent or a famous celebrity. These role models are only human; they make mistakes because they aren’t perfect. Young girls might see a famous celebrity that they look up to make bad choices and think that it’s ok whether it have to deal with sex, alcohol or drugs. By raising girls on the Disney princess movies, it gives girls a role model that is in a sense “perfect”. The princesses have been the same for 30 years and will stay the same for 30 more years. They are a role model that doesn’t change; there is no worry about them getting into abusing drugs or alcohol The Disney princesses teach girls the importance of family, friendship, acceptance and so much more. So why wouldn’t you want them to be a role model for your daughter? You have a guarantee that they won’t mess up like someone else could. A Disney princess shows the importance of family. In Beauty and the Beast we see Belle who trades her freedom to free her father and takes his place as the Beasts’ prisoner. By having Belle trade places with her father it shows that “Disney animated films contain strong messages about the importance of family relationships. Family members were often shown making sacrifices for one another, and putting their families’ well being before their own.” (Tanner 367) Even after Belle falls in love with the Beast...

This especially means within a business where those skills have been lost and replaced with a corporate mindset that focuses on process, systems and risk minimization rather than entrepreneurial behavior. A great example of entrepreneurial leadership would be Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Five Guys Burgers and Fries were founded in 1986 by the Jerry and Janie Murrell and their sons.
