Widowmaker

Charlie Richards wakes up to a gloomy day in New York. He rolls out of bed and stumbles to the shower. The Marketing Associate for Apple’s New York headquarters starts his day just like every other.

“ Honey,” his wife Jennifer calls from the kitchen “some men stopped by looking for you yesterday, they said they worked with you but I didn’t recognize any of them.”

“ Did they leave anything for me?” Charlie asked.

“ No they said they’d stop by another time.” She said.

Not thinking twice about it Charlie said his goodbyes and went on to his boring day at work. But today would be anything but boring.

Charlie arrives at his work, punches into his computer terminal, and goes through his morning routine. He gets his breakfast and coffee and heads back to his desk to start his day. While working on a new pitch for his boss he gets a phone call.

“ Charlie.” says a raspy voice on the other end.

“ Who is this?” asks Charlie quizzically.

“ That isn’t important,” says the man “ what is important is we have your wife.”

“ This fight isn’t with her,” says Charlie “ what you want is with me let her go and take me.”

“ We can’t do that Charlie, now I will be contacting you later with some instructions that you must do to keep her alive.”

The phone call ends the long drawn out beep that happens when the line is dead rings in Charlie’s ear. He knows what he has to do. He has to get her back safely.

Charlie rushes home, he just up and walked out of his job and runs 5 blocks to his apartment in Manhattan. What no one knows about is that Charlie has a dark past, he used to be an assassin for the mob. He used to live in Chicago, he was a “hit man” as they call it. He gave up the life one day when he was sent to take out the Mayor of Chicago. Ever since then he’s been on the run. Charlie knows the mob will take out anyone close to you just to send a message. As runs to his closet in the bedroom he thinks to himself how am I going to do this?

He pulls out all of his clothes and rips off a panel out of the closet and reveals his stash. His “ Tools of Ignorance” as he likes to call it, he pulls out his shiny 9mm pistol, engraved with the name “vedova creatore” Widow Maker in italian. That’s what the Mob called him. He then grabs his extra magazines and his lone car key. His wife didn’t even know he had a car, it was his little secret.

He rushes out of his house and heads to the 17th Street Parking Garage. As he heads to the 4th level he runs to spot number 42 there sits his beautiful 1969 Ford Mustang. It was a gift from Ricardo Carmine, the mob boss and the man who Charlie is positive is behind this. Ricardo loved Charlie like a son and saw a lot of himself in him. But Charlie is going to take him out and anyone who gets in his way. He fires up the engine the 550 horsepower rumbles as he accelerates out of the garage and out on to the street. He knows they won’t be holding her in the city, it’s too risky and too many people may see it. So he heads for the one man in the city that will know where they are.

Charlie heads down to the Flatiron District to find Juan Vasquez the leader of New Yorks Mob. He knows where Jennifer would be and who took her. Charlie strolls into Madrasso’s Italian Restaurant on Grant St. as he approaches the hostess a booming voice comes from the back.

“ Send him back, I know why he is here.”

Charlie walks back slowly scanning the room for the voice, as he comes through an open door there he is Juan Vasquez himself.

“ How do you know who I am?” Charlie asks.

“ Carmine told me you’d be coming, me and him are associates.” Vasquez says as he sips on a glass of gin.

“ So you know who has my wife?” Charlie questions.

“ Why do you expect me to know,” Vasquez says with a slight grin on his face “ I’m just a businessman.”

“ I know Carmine is behind it, and I want to know where they are taking her!” Charlie yells as he stands up from the table.

“ Sit down you are making a scene,” Vasquez pleads. “ or my men will have to rough you up.”

Just then Charlie notices a few men assembling around the restaurant clearing out the patrons that were having lunch.

“ Fine I’ll sit.” Charlie says just as one of Vasquez’ goons walks in. Charlie pulls out his gun and shoots him in the knee, and then pistol whips him over the head knocking him out.

“ I’m not playing games Vasquez, where is my wife before the next bullet is in your skull.” Charlie demands as his gun is trained on Vasquez.

“ Carmines’ men are taking her to New Jersey they are getting out of the city fast, they have a plane in Hoboken that’s taking them back to Chicago, if she gets on that plane. You’ll never see her again.” Vasquez says.

Just after he gets the words out of his mouth Charlie pulls the trigger, Vasquez slumps back in his chair. Dead. Charlie walks out of the restaurant and leaves for New Jersey he now knows today is going to be a long day.

As he crosses the border into New Jersey he is wondering why Vasquez gave up the information so easily. The Mob’s number one rule is to not snitch. And that’s exactly what Vasquez did. As Charlie pulls up to a small airport outside of Hoboken something does not feel right. He gets out of his car and walks across the runway to a small hanger with a private jet in it.

“ That’s got to be Carmine’s.” He says to himself. Just as he takes one step into the hanger a gunshot rings out from behind him. He turns to see eleven men approaching from all different angles closing in on him. It was a trap, Vasquez set him up. He ducks behind the hanger door for cover and takes a deep breath. Then pops out and fires five shots, hitting four men. He then gets back into cover and assess the situation.

“Four down, seven to go.” Charlie says as he gasps for air. He rounds the corner and disposes of six men, leaving one. Charlie runs out and shoots the lone survivor in his knees, enabling him to get away.

“ Where’s Carmine!” shouts Charlie.

“ He’s in Jersey City, he took the girl and is held up in the hotel there.” says the shooter.

“ That’s all I needed to know.” Says Charlie as he fires one more round into the man killing him.

As Charlie arrives to the hotel he notices a few men wearing suits outside. He knows he isn’t getting into this hotel quietly. He exits his car and keeps one hand behind his back holding his gun. He approaches them cautiously.

“ Is this where the Carmine family is found,” Charlie questions the men “ because I have a package for them.” Just as he gets done saying this he punches the first man and ducks under the punch of the second guard. He then grabs second man and punches him and knocks him out also. He then makes his way into the lobby where there are three more men.

“Hello gentlemen.” Charlie says with a grin as he pulls out his pistol and disposes three shots into the men.

He walks to the front desk and asks the attendant. “ What is Carmine’s room number?”

“ Room 508.” she said.

“ Get out of here before this gets too crazy.” Charlie says as he makes his way to the elevator.

He clicks the number 5 on the list of floor numbers and waits for the doors to close. As he is slowly making his way up he starts humming to tune of the elevator music. It’s that crappy song by Miley Cyrus “ Wrecking Ball”

Charlie laughs

“ What a song for this moment.”

As he exits the elevator he starts counting the doors.

502, 504, 506, he draws his pistol as he sees 508. He knocks and ducks to the side of the peep hole. The man that answered didn’t have a chance, Charlie disposed of him quicker than your garbage. He slams the door in and moves in taking out two more men with well placed gun shots. Charlie thinks to himself:

“ Five rounds left”

As a man runs out of the bathroom he fires two shots into him.

“Three”

No more men but he hears someone shuffle in the bedroom. He walks over and kicks open the door. He sees two men he fires two rounds into the one.

“One shot left”

The last man is holding his wife with a gun to her head. It’s Carmine.

“ Welcome back Charlie, I didn’t think I’d ever see you again.” Carmine says smiling a devilish grin.

“ Carmine, long time no see, I notice you haven’t changed a bit.” Charlie says gun trained on him.

“ You see Charlie when leave the mob, and don’t tell anyone then run from us. We have to take someone from your life that’s special to you. So we chose your lovely wife here.” as he sticks the gun close to her head.

“ Charlie don’t take the shot!” Jennifer pleads

“ Yeah Charlie don’t do it.” Carmine jokes

Just as Carmine said that he leaned away from Jennifer just a few inches. Noticing this Charlie squeezed the trigger sending the bullet right between Carmine’s eyes. Ending the threat to his wife. Jennifer runs to Charlie as he grabs her in a warm embrace.

“ I told you not to shoot.” Jennifer says while sobbing into Charlie’s shirt.

“ I saw my window and took my chance, I knew I wouldn’t hit you.” Charlie says with wink.

James Clayton Biography

...I studied intensely for years with Lori Triolo. She focused a lot on an acting technique called Meisner. She really is the one who taught me how to act, and I credit her for where I am today. Lori is also in CANDiLAND playing a character named Leesha. It's pretty neat how things have come full circle. I also went to New York and studied at Uta Hagen's HB Studios with Ed Moorehouse and Carol Rosenfield. They were both absolutely amazing teachers. I was offered a scholarship to stay, but I was so overwhelmed by New York. I never followed up with it. I'm glad it happened that way though because now I have a great company with my friends, and we're producing work that means something to us. Your first film was the feature film K-19: The Widowmaker. How did that opportunity come about? What was the on-set filming experience like? Any notable stories from filming with these big "names"? I grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. K-19 came around when the Manitoba film boom was happening. A local casting director and actor, Rebecca Gibson, had scouted me earlier that year and played a huge part in getting me in the film. It was the first time I'd ever been on a movie set. I was sixteen. So it was pretty overwhelming. Kathryn Bigelow and Harrison Ford were there. Very few get a chance to see living legends work first hand. I remember the whole experience as electrifying. There was an energy on set. Though, I would say the biggest thing I remember from both of them was their sense of ease....

The Rain Bow

...Rainbow (also known as Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow or Blackmore's Rainbow) were an English hard rock band formed in California, controlled by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore from 1975 to 1984 and 1994 to 1997. They were originally established with American blues rock band Elf's members, though over the years Rainbow went through many line-up changes with no two studio albums featuring the same line-up. In addition to lead singers Ronnie James Dio, Graham Bonnet, Joe Lynn Turner and Doogie White, the project consisted of numerous backing musicians. The band started out combining mystical lyric themes with neo-classical metal, but went in a more streamlined commercial style following Dio's departure from the group.[1] Rainbow were ranked No. 90 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.[2] The band has sold over 28 million albums worldwide and 4 million albums in the United States.
