I did my research on the discovery of Uranus by William Hershcel. William Hershcel was born in modern Germany in 1738 and moved to England in 1757 and started a career as a musician. Hershcel developed an interest in astronomy and started to create his own telescopes in 1774. His telescopes were recognized as the finest in the world. Through one of his telescopes Herschel first spotted Uranus in 1781. When first spotted Uranus he thought it was a comet, but through other calculations it was found to have a circular orbit which made it obvious that it was a planet. There were actually three names suggested for this planet, Georgium Sidus, Herschel, and Uranus. Through Hershcel’s discovery of Uranus he became famous and earned a position as a
