William Howard Taft was the 27th president of the United States of America. It just so happens that our school is named after him in Chicago, IL. To be honest with you I never considered Taft as an option for schools. I went to a Catholic grade school and if you went to a Catholic grade school then you would head to a Catholic High School. I remember looking back when I was in 7th grade, and I was a tad shy back. I remember looking at all these great schools and I completely ignored Taft as an option. In the beginning of my 8th grade year I decided to take a tour and see what Taft has to offer and it offered so much! There were so many things you can do, so many clubs you can join. After I heard about the academics and clubs they had to offer I decide that was where I wanted to be. My first day, was full of confusion and craziness. The excitement was for me to be reborn, to start fresh in school. Her fear was what kind of people are there, what will happen to me. As any mother would worry about that. I stepped outside of the car on the pavement and I walked to the front of the building where the band played their music like there was no tomorrow. I walked in, flashed my ID to the security guards, and tried to make my way upstairs. As I set foot upstairs I noticed these kids scrambling just to get their schedule and figure out where they are suppose to be. Then I saw people with this makeup and clothing that was just nerve wracking and teachers zooming across the halls because they were in the wrong homeroom. It felt as if I entered a nut house! Then I realized 5 minutes later it’s not a nut house, this is just a new environment that I and everybody else must get used to. I eventually settled in and made some amazing friends along the
