Wireless relates to a communications, monitoring or control system in which electromagnetic waves carry a signal through atmospheric space rather than along a wire. Most wireless systems use radio frequency or infrared waves. RF or radio frequency includes any of the electromagnetic wave frequencies that lie in the range extending from 3 kHz to about 300 GHz which include the frequencies used for radio and television transmission. Infrared Waves (IR) includes frequencies from 3 THz to 430 THz (Ahmadi, 2010). Mobile communications was mainly applied to military and public safety services until the end of World War II, but after the war it began to be applied to public telephone services. The first public mobile phone service was the Mobile Telephone System or MTS which was introduced in the United States in 1946. In this system, operation was simplex and call placement was handled by a manual operation. The MTS was then followed by the development of a full duplex automatic switching system, the improved mobile telephone system or IMTS (Haag, 2010). Referent power means being trustworthy and going above and beyond the call of duty to do a job you’re ask to do. Reward power is offering something of value to get somebody to do something. Legitimate power is showing authority of power with a certain position or rank. Coercive power is being demanding, intimidating, and using some type of fear to get what you want. Lastly expert power is being comfortable to influence others because of expertise, knowledge, or skill. The type of power I find most effective is reward power. I think reward power is the most effective because usually when you offer somebody some type of reward or something of value it usually motivates them to do their job a lot more.
