The Responsibility Project “The Home Team” is a great short film reflecting the team comradery of the Murray State Racers basketball team. This film reflects the coaches and players perspective, as well as, the community’s love of the game, players, and traditions. This is not only just an extra curriculum event for these people this is an event that brings out families across all areas in the city. They have had a very successful team over they years and when entering the gym and the many banners reflecting their championships are a reflection of that. One of the issues that was brought up in the field was that of the importance of the game. Restaurants and people reflecting the school colors, signs being changed to show the support that they have for the team and the town almost completely shutting down in order to attend home games were expressed and shown. These are sure signs that the support that they have for the team is huge. Being a small town, Murray thrives on talking and living and breathing basketball and it was actually stated on the film that it is what Murray, Kentucky on the map. The players spoke about how when they came into the school their freshman year they were treated as family from everyone and feel that everyone in the town are friends. However, the cameras movement ceases before a more detailed shot is included which is frustrating for the audience, as we feel that we can never be truly intimate with this character.
