Wolfkit blinked open her eyes. At first, the dim light shining through the leaves above blinded her sensitive eyes. She took a look around, gathering in the shape of her mother and her two siblings. Sleepily she stretched and curled into a tighter ball. A paw prodded her back and Wolfkit flopped over onto her other side. “Wolfkit, sweetie, your brother and sister are up and playing,” Moonfeather, her mother, mewed gently. Wolfkit jumped up on to her paws and looked up. She stared at her mother for a second before darting to the opening of the nursery. Wiggling through, sunlight shone down on her small body.
