Women have been facing different forms of oppression within various societies, which has created a social change within them over time. This oppression through power brought about resistance within these women and the idea of thinking for themselves and challenging the misuse of power. ‘The Romance of Resistance’ and ‘Uses of the Erotic: the Erotic as Power’ both showcase a different type of power and resistance both portrayed by women. The readings by Abu Lughod and Audre Lorde respectively share a common ground as both are explaining the patriarchy and oppression which women face as they both differ on the main topics being addressed.
