There is a lot of talk from the media when speaking on our warming planet, but billions of people face a more immediate problem. They are desperately poor, and many cook and heat their homes using open fires or leaky stoves that burn dirty fuels like coal, waste and wood. About 3.5 million of poor people die prematurely each year as a result of breathing the polluted air inside their homes. About two hundred thousand more than the number who die prematurely each year from breathing polluted air outside, according to a study by the World Health Organization.
More than 1.2 billion people around the world have no access to electricity, according to the International Energy Agency’s World Energy Outlook for 2012. Most of these people live in sub-Saharan Africa and in Asia. That is nearly four times the number of people who live in the United States. Researching these numbers and knowing the results not having the proper resources I strongly believe that these people can receive the proper treatment for correcting these incidents with the help of other countries who has the resources that they need.
Burning the fossil fuels is led to believe that this is one of the leading causes of global warming. Knowing this it is very important that we should begin addressing the problem and coming up with ideas to help this matter. But doing so is a question of timing and importance. For many parts of the world, fossil fuels are still vigorous. But is there really a way that we can help this problem? Given that we know the facts and the resources to fix this problem, will this situation ever be fixed?
