Woolworths is an investing holding company founded in South Africa in 1931 and now is a retail chain that covers Africa, onto the Middle East and also has majority shares in Australian Country Road. It provides financial and retail services to upper and middle income groups in countries like South Africa, some African countries, New Zealand and Australia.
In their mission statement Woolworths says :”We, as passionate committed retailers, understand and lead our customers through excellence and a deep knowledge of our products and services and the world we live in.”
Woolworths is a great believer in sustainability and a huge chunk of its resources is devoted to changing the environmental needs as well as social ones of South Africa.
