Working Alone Research Paper

...Once I found out that I was going to be working alone I was a little anxious, I didn't want to say no though because my task supervisor had a family emergency and I needed to step up and fill in. I was happy that they trusted me enough to work alone but that didn't calm the nerves about dealing with situations on my own with very little experience. By Monday morning I convinced myself it was time to bury my anxiety and just get on with what needed doing. I was handling things pretty well until I had to take a family in the car with me. When I called the other worker to check I was secretly hoping she would say I wasn't allowed to take them because the thought of being alone in the car with people I wasn't sure about was starting to make my anxiety bubble to the surface. I...

Stress at Work

...Stress at Work Have you ever had a job or position that left you feeling pressure, anxiety, discontent, or completely disconnected? You are not alone; nearly everyone who is employed has experienced those feelings at one time or another in their life. The world, in which we live, is fast paced and ever changing. Companies have grown increasingly demanding and as a result the workload has increased while the workforce has not. As less people are used in the work force the workload is ever increasing. The stress at work can eventually spill over into all aspects of that person’s life thus causing more damage and further issues. The key is to recognize the stress and the impact it has and use the best way to manage stress while still being able to adapt to a changing working environment. Recognizing the Stress In order to solve any issue, we must first acknowledge the problem and then understand what is causing us to have that problem. Stress can creep up on anyone; it can remain un-detected for quite some time. Our body is a wonderfully constructed marvel of engineering brilliance. More often than not, when something goes wrong, there are warning signs exhibited. While it is very common to have busy days at work, there is a difference between being busy and being stressed. The various signs of stress may include frequent headaches, stomachaches, elevated blood pressure, lack of sleep, depression, and many other symptoms. There are a multitude of things that can contribute...

Confidence - the Seed of Advancement

...occupation for you. Confidence is generally described as a state of being certain either that an idea or prediction is correct or that a chosen course of action is the best or most effective. Self-confidence is having confidence in oneself. Confidence can be a self-fulfilling prophecy as those without it may fail or not try because they lack it and those with it may succeed because they have it rather than because of an innate ability (Wikipedia). Just like a seed planted on soil, confidence is like a seed which we should plant in our minds and hearts and which requires our utmost attention in enabling it grow. Below are three ways by which you and I can grow this seed (Thanks to Huffington Post): 1. Affirm that you are not alone: What that means, is that we often abandon ourselves, and that creates a feeling of tremendous insecurity. You are the one who has got to have your back and heart. There are three...

Spiritual Gifts

...with people who may have problems that others might feel uncomfortable with. I am also a very good listener. I love to share the Gospel with others and bring the lost to know Jesus Christ. I am truly blessed to have these gifts that God has given me. PART TWO: Specifically, how can you use your gifts at this time? How might you misuse your gifts? Be specific. There are many ways I can use my gifts today. In my Church there are people who often come to me to “unload” what’s going on in their Lives. I am always there to listen and give them the best advice I can. I show mercy by going with a group from the church to visit the ones who are shut-ins and letting them know that we care for them and that they are not alone. Outside the church I volunteer for Domestic and Sexually abused women’s shelter. I do a weekly Bible study and I teach some of them how to cook. I soon will be taking the required training to be a Christian Counselor. I also post Scripture, Devotionals, and prayers on my face book page. There are many ways I can misuse my gifts as well. With being capable of earning trust quickly, and empathizing with people, I need to be very careful with caring for males. I could easily be fooled into thinking that I’m caring for a female, and it could easily become unhealthy very quickly. I need to be careful that I don’t push a solution on someone who...

Responsibility

...Getting Started, No Looking Back Thesis Statement: The word, “College” can be intimidating all by itself; then to add the word, “Personal Responsibility”, can make anyone fearful but also excited at the same time. Now you start thinking, there’s no turning back now, I am a grown up, and start to think, I can do this; how hard can it be? But, the real learning starts, the real study habits are formed, and the real accountability has just begun. Introduction: While in some of our minds, getting started on any assignment, particularly doing a paper is hard to do, but can come easy to others. I have to remind myself that I am in (or should I say, back in) college now and there will be no one there to hold my hand. It is called, “personal responsibility” I. What is personal responsibility: Personal responsibility owns up to whatever is set before you, big or small, a little or a lot. It is holding your own self accountable for your actions, because all of your actions will have consequences behind them. In college life, keeping yourself on track is solely up to you, making the grade can be the difference between passing or failing, receiving a degree or not. II. Personal responsibility and college success: Personal responsibility is key to college success even more so than ever, there is so much competition in the workforce now. Good work ethics is a must and in college life this characteristic trait is a good format to get started. Looking back to your youth...

Michael Crichton says “If you want to be happy, forget yourself” he claims that people that lives for others and dedicated their lives to the more unfortunate is often very happy. You have to get busy in life in order to live it, you have to forget your own self-importance, and help others, before you can help yourself. The key to happiness is not materiel things. Go to Market Strategies

...Baseline current go-to-market activities Posted on November 6, 2009 by Kamran How do you capture your revenue today? We asked thousands of business owners, CEOs, and VPs of sales and marketing this question. Guess what? Most of them stumbled. Do you know the answer? If your answer is yes, congratulations! You are ready for the next question:Do you know how profitable each channel is? The purpose of the baseline step is to answer these two questions with hard facts and document the underlying assumptions, beliefs and opportunities in existing go-to-market activities. The problem is that many organizations don’t know what they already know. Even in the age of the Internet, business units and departments are still working in silo, perfecting, rejecting, and innovating sales and marketing tactics without sharing with others. So the idea of the baseline activity is to bring everyone on board and create a fact base of current activities so you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. The question is, what information should be collected and from where? Advances in analytics and business intelligence have allowed organizations to collect tons of data that can be sliced and diced a thousand different ways. If you are not collecting this data, don’t worry. To make reasonably accurate decisions, you really don’t need to know if Edward Jones wears a yellow shirt when he buys orange flowers for his girlfriend Jill. There is a place for such detailed data; however, for our purposes we can live...

...asdffsThis is a quote that I first heard in Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper. A quote that I first read from William Shakespeare’s, Hamlet. A quote that I am trying to live by. A quote that definitely changed my view in life. The society, today, tends to stereotype people and categorize them into groups such as “The socialites”, “The mean girls”, “The rich kids”, “The smart ass”, “The rebels”, “The geeks”, “The jocks”, “The wannabe’s”, “The emo’s”, “The skaters”, “The dorks”, etc. This happens most with the teens and young adults. Of course, there wouldn’t be a problem if you are categorized as a mean girl or a jock or a smart ass, those are pretty good titles (when you’re in a school campus). But what about the kids that were categorized as the emo’s or the dorks and the wannabe’s? Two things can happen: First: They will think that they aren’t good enough and are not worthy of any attention at all. They will be insecure and will think lowly of themselves. They will either, stay the way they are and would not do anything to be better. They will be growing up with lots of insecurities and/or kill themselves. Second: They will try to fit in. They will change their way of living and be that someone, supposedly “a mean girl”, and try to live like them, with their ways, their looks, the way they walk, the way they talk and even the way they dress. They would not act as themselves anymore. Just to be part of a better social group. Sucks, yes? I have seen this for so...

Live on

...“Live On” You, little one who cries every day and dreams without a smile every night, hear me out and don’t lose yourself. Do not give up because, to live on, you have to fight. Small yet big girl, stop crying every wrong done you. Focus on what you do and who you are. Realize already you are hurting others too. See you neglect the friends you don’t know you have, though about that you truly don’t have a clue. Defenseless girl, take off your grey and wet blindfold. Notice the hands that are trying to reach you for you to hold. It is for you that they are trying so hard, and the distance between you and them is not a yard. Confused girl, perhaps it is unfair to you. You are just a kid, but you already feel like this. You feel misunderstood; you feel unnecessary. You think you’re falling into an abyss. You feel you are incompetent at expressing yourself. You think you’ve for too long been amiss. You question life; you cannot understand its meaning. You don’t know you’re too young to know of what life consists. You don’t know what to think of yourself; you question your existence. You are so weary and frustrated at how your flow of tears persists! However, not all is sorrow; not everything is aching sadness. Behind the loneliness you obsess about, there is also bliss. You can become strong. You can find happiness. You can live! But for that to be, you first have to believe your will exists. Blind girl, God and many others love you so much! ...

No, You’re Not Entitled to Your Opinion

...5 October 2012, 6.28am AEST No, you’re not entitled to your opinion AUTHOR 1. Patrick Stokes Lecturer in Philosophy at Deakin University DISCLOSURE STATEMENT Patrick Stokes does not work for, consult to, own shares in or receive funding from any company or organisation that would benefit from this article, and has no relevant affiliations. The ABC’s popular Q And A show revolves around opinion. But not all opinions are of equal value.ABC TV Every year, I try to do at least two things with my students at least once. First, I make a point of addressing them as “philosophers” – a bit cheesy, but hopefully it encourages active learning. Secondly, I say something like this: “I’m sure you’ve heard the expression ‘everyone is entitled to their opinion.’ Perhaps you’ve even said it yourself, maybe to head off an argument or bring one to a close. Well, as soon as you walk into this room, it’s no longer true. You are not entitled to your opinion. You are only entitled to what you can argue for.” A bit harsh? Perhaps, but philosophy teachers owe it to our students to teach them how to construct and defend an argument – and to recognize when a belief has become indefensible. The problem with “I’m entitled to my opinion” is that, all too often, it’s used to shelter beliefs that should have been abandoned. It becomes shorthand for “I can say or think whatever I like” – and by extension, continuing to argue is somehow disrespectful. And this attitude feeds, I suggest, into...

Omelas

...In this short story, Le Guin describes the utopian city of Omelas during the Festival of Summer. The city is characterized by its happiness and beauty underscored by its close proximity to a sparkling sea. For the festival, the entire population of Omelas joins together in various processionals through the city. Boys and girls in the Green Fields exercise their horses in preparation for the festival race. Bells clang and people sing and dance so that the city seems alive with music. In Omelas, the people have precisely what they need, and have managed to trim away the more destructive excesses of life. Despite their happiness, the people of Omelas are not simple. They are “mature, intelligent, passionate adults whose lives are not wretched” (2). Their lives are complex and they do not live in an idyllic fairytale, as the description of the city might suggest. In terms of law enforcement and government rule, Le Guin leaves this area vague stating only that there is no military presence within the city, and that the people are not governed by a king. There are no slaves and the laws that govern the city are not outlined, but Le Guin “suspects that [there are] few” (2). Furthermore, the people are free from the tyranny of religious leaders, as the city lacks any priests or oligarchical elements. Sexual mores in Omelas are left to the reader’s imagination. Lu Guin only suggests free love is readily available in the city, where potential lovers wander the streets ready to...

The Importance of Sociology in a Society

...RELATIONSHIPS - PART ONE: UNDERSTANDING WHO YOU ARE Most of us have learned Bible teaches us mainly about two things.... 1. The first is our relationship with God. 2. The second is our relationship with one another. Every book in the bible deals with these two relationships. Almost everything that I talk about from this pulpit concerns our relationship with God. That is a good thing to talk about! Tonight though, I want to begin a new series concerning our relationship ourselves and with others. We are going to address relationships that deal with the husband, the wife, friends, and family, communication...but I want to begin this series tonight by talking about understanding yourself! The first key to understanding yourself is to understand... * Who you are. * Where you come from. * Where you are going. * What is your purpose. ...before you can be successful in any relationship...you must be able to understand yourself! Before you can be successful in your relationship with God you must be able to understand yourself! Tell the person next to you..."I am about to find out who I am." The bible says.... Being a Teenage Female

...1. Your decisions are important. One decision can change the trajectory of your life. It takes courage to decide you are not ready for something, and courage to decide to make yourself vulnerable and try something new. Always be courageous. 2. Maintain your digital privacy. If you would not walk into the lunchroom and shout it out, don't ever text or share it on social media. Your "friends" list will not adhere to the same standards of discretion about your life as you expect, particularly when hitting the forward button is so simple. 3. Use the right measurements. Life is not measured in the amount of likes you get on Instagram, numbers on a scale or even your GPA. And there isn't a "thing" you can buy with the money you make that can fill a void in your soul. Always remember that life is about the impact you have on others, so work on building your brain and growing your heart, and the rest will fall into place. 4. Always believe the best in people. People can be mean. There will be a million times when someone says something or does something or you are told about something that rips your heart to shreds. Give that person the benefit of the doubt, and then offer them grace -- because when this stuff happens, it is not about you, brother. It says infinitely more about them. It is what they have going on in their life that is impacting the way they behave. 5. Use your voice. Never sit idly by while someone else is being treated poorly. Period. ...
