...Colin Villarino Apol 104 June 2 2012 Worldview Assignment I. Worldview is a commonly used word in the Christian church; however, many may not understand the true meaning of this simple world. Worldview has to do with the perspective that one looks at the world. II. 1. Origin- Christians believe that the world was created by God. Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”. Genesis 1:31 also refers to the creation, and the goodness of what God created. As Christians we believe the we were made by a divine being, as was the rest of the world that surrounds us. 2. Identity- We were made in the image of God. Genesis 1:26 says, “and God says let us make man in our own image”. Later in this verse he says that man will have dominion over all the earth. James 3:9 also give reference to our identity, and says that we were made in God’s image. We can learn about how specially designed we are by looking at these scriptures. 3. Meaning- John 17:3 refers to our meaning in life; it is to know God. We were made by God to have a relationship with Him; however, when we sin we fall short of the closeness that God desired for us. As mentioned above we were made in God’s image to be close to him, Genesis 1:27. 4. Morality- We were made to be good by God,, but according to Romans 3:23 we have fallen short of the glory of God. When Jesus came, he told the disciples to listen and to obey His teachings ( Matthew 28:19). These teaching were of the moral life...

...~Worldview Assignment~ I. What is worldview?- A worldview, in my opinion, is the basis on which a person acts (every single thought, attitude, action and opinion given.) A worldview is built throughout the persons’ life and is based on what he has heard, seen, experienced, learned and believed. II. 1.) The Question of Origin- Where do we come from? As a Christian, I believe that people were created by the one and only true God. (Genesis 1:27) The Christian Worldview believes that the one true God created the world and the things in it (plants, animals, people, etc...) in just six days. The sixth day is known to be when God created one man and one woman from which God brought forth all the rest of human population both present and past. (Genesis 1:28) 2.) The Question of Identity- What does it mean to be human? I believe that each individual person is unique and designed in the image of God. (Genesis 1:27) We were given a body, mind, spirit and free will. As a Christian, I believe that God created each and every one of us for a reason. When God created man and woman, He made them to care for the animals and plants as well as have a personal, intimate relationship with Him and others. (Genesis 1:28-30) 3.) The Question of Meaning- Why does mankind exist? I believe, as a Christian that we were made to glorify our Creator and bring Him pleasure. People bring the Lord glory by obeying His words and commands (Philippians 2:12-13)...

...WORLDVIEW ASSIGNMENT By: Damien Benton Student ID: 23016873 I. What is a WORLDVIEW? a. A worldview is a way that a person sees the world, what filters that are used and what morals they use to interpret events. “A worldview is the framework of beliefs of how a person sees the world around them”. (Caner, 498) (41 words) II. Articulate the Biblical/Christian Worldview for the following 5 questions. b. The Question of Origin – i. This is derived from the idea of where did life begin as well as how did man come into existence. We believe that we were created by god and that his hand brought the world about. The most obvious scripture is Genesis 1:1 and David proclaimed his creation in Psalms 139:13-16. (52 words) c. The Question of Identity – ii. This Worldview to me, asks what does my life represent and am I more important than other beings? We, as humans, were created in the image of God, but not on the same level as him. However, we were created to govern over his creation. We were created to rule above the animals, Genesis 1:26, and were made to be to serve under God, Psalms 8:4-8. (67 words) d. The Question of Meaning/Purpose – iii. This question is more of a singular base for knowledge of “why do I exist?” We as Christians believe our purpose is to know God or some see it as a way for God to reach man, through his word. In our reading the example of John 3:17 is given to support this view. 1 Timothy 2:3-4...

...Worldview Assignment Submitted to Professor Marks, in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the completion of the course, APOL 104 D27 LUO Contemporary Worldviews Liberty University Online By Ryan Mapleton 4/6/2015 Defining Worldview A worldview is the person’s philosophy about life, a framework a person bring to decision-making, and a filter or lens which a person uses to interpret life and the word around them. The Biblical Worldview Origin The usual questions that are asked when finding the question of origin are “How did life begin?” and “How did mankind come into existence?” In biblical worldview, God is the reason that everything exist. The Bible says “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). It is professed by the psalmist, David that God is his creator (Psalms 136: 13 -16). Identity “What does it mean to be human?” and “Are humans more important than animals?” are the questions asked to seek the answer of the question of identity. In biblical worldview, God created mankind above the animal because it says in the bible that men and women were created in Gods image. The bible tells us that we are supposed to take of the animals (Genesis 1:26-27). Psalms 8:5 states that man was created “little lower than angels.” Meaning and Purpose The specific question that is mainly asked to answer the question of meaning and purpose is that “Why does mankind exist?” or “Why do I exist?” In the biblical worldview, it’s about...

...Worldview Assignment 1. Part One: What is a worldview? It is my opinion that a person develops what he or she may call their own “worldview” at an early age from parents, relative, friends and teachers on what is right and what is wrong pertaining to things you do in life and things that occur in your life. I believe that later on as you start to have your own life experiences your “worldviews” may change significantly. II. Part Two: Articulate the biblical/Christian Worldview (what is believed) for each of the following 5 questions. Give 2 relevant scripture references for each of the five questions below (do not write out the verses) to support why it is believed. 1. The Question of Origin - When you have a belief of Theism, or believing that “God exists” you believe that everything is a result of God and his work which he created in six 24 hour days. From the Heavens and earth, to the plants, animals and eventually man and woman. Genesis 1:1, Colossians 1:16-17 2. The Question of Identity – The Identity when dealing with Theism basically states that man is created special in God’s eyes. Mankind was created above the animals and given the responsibility to rule over the animals and to be their caretakers. The animals and the earth are not meant to be worshiped but mankind is responsible for taking care of God’s creations. Psalm 8:5, Genesis 2:15. 3. The Question of Meaning/Purpose – It is believed that mankind exists for the sole purpose of getting...

...Worldview Assignment I. A Worldview is the philosophy of life and the world around us. Everyone has a different worldview by what they perceive it to be. Ones actions and decisions are made by their very own worldview. A person who is unnecessarily emotional is going to have an emotional worldview. Therefore, that very same persons perspective could change due to their circumstances in life. “...people base their worldview on how they feel.” (Hindson & Caner, 2008) II. 1. The Question of Origin: The Christian worldview of the origin of life is believed to be the first stage of existence that God created all, including humans and animals. Life, as we know it, came in the form of our eternal living God (Genesis 1). We are “fearfully and wonderfully made” as thus stated in Psalm 139:13-14, God created woman to bear children and for the womb to be His canvas. 2. The Question of Identity: Our identity consists of Gods image and likeness for which we were created (Genesis 1:26-27). We represent Him by our actions and our words to portray His identity. Since we are “made in His image”, how we carry ourselves will express the identity of God. We, as man, are responsible for taking care of God’s creation such as the animals and the earth (Genesis 2:15). Since man carries a hierarchy over all living creatures on earth, animals were not created “in His image”. Therefore, our true identity lies within our Creator. 3. The Question of Meaning/Purpose: Our purpose...

Every one person has a worldview. This can be molded by people who surround us from the time we are born to adults. There are multiple groups of people from different cultural and religious backgrounds craving your attention in hopes to share their worldview with you and persuade you. ...104 Everette Beverly Worldview Assignment Part I. What is Worldview? Worldview as defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary is “the way someone thinks about the world.” I define it very logically. It is broken up into rich and poor. Beautiful and ugly. Moral or Amoral. Ambition or contentment. Very simplistic. Part II. The question of origin. Where did I come from? There is no doubt in my military mind who is the creator of all things. He is the creator of the Heavens and Earth. (Genesis 1:1). Why do we doubt these things? The Big Bang theory can be easily explained. He who creates something as wonderful as the world we live does it with a bang, literally and figuratively. One as powerful as God also has the wherewithal to create man and woman. (Genesis 2:7). There has always been dispute, but no real worthy explanation. Again, I am a very logical & practical person so I choose to believe in the divine creation. The question of identity. What am I? Who am I? I have contemplated these questions over a 50yr. life. I was taught that I was created in his own image that I am supposed to care for and be fed by his creation. (Genesis 2:5-7) Should this not be the views of every Christian, not just mine? To be honest, I stray. But I ask for forgiveness and keep on going. The question of meaning/purpose. What am doing here on earth? I was also taught to follow God’s will and he will give me purpose. (Romans 8:28) “To live a worldview, a person must seek to...

...Worldview Assignment I. Part One: Coming up with the meaning of the ‘worldview’ seems difficult because there can be many meanings to many different people. Weltanschauung meaning, “our intuiton of the world” was first shown by Immanuel Kant in 1970 (Weider and Gutierrez, 2011). A worldview to me is the full understanding of the decisions we make. It is the emotions, the will, and the intellect behind every decision. It is our view of the world. II. Part Two: 1. The Question of Origin asks “How did life begin?” and “How did mankind come into existence?” (Weider and Gutierrez, 2011). In the biblical/Christian worldview, God created all. He is the answer to why everything is the way that it is. In Genesis 1:1, Moses recognizes that God created the heavens and the earth. Another example of the belief that God created all is in Nehemia 9:6 from The Book of Ezra. 2. The Question of Identity seems to ask the question of what it means to be a person or a human (Weider and Gutierrez, 2011). In a biblical or Christain worldview, God created all mankind and all animals. He created animals so that we, as people, can reap the benefits of the land He created and the animals He created. In Genesis 1:26, God created man over the animals and all of Earth. God then talks about the plants in Genesis 1:30 and how every man and every animal has food. 3. The Question of Meaning/Purpose is probably the most common asked question. We ask, “Why does...

...------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- Worldview Assignment ------------------------------------------------- Stephanie Healey APOL 104 Dr. Douglas Mikkelsen November 10, 2013 According to Dr. Weider & Dr. Gutierrez (2012), worldview is defined as “ 1) a person’s philosophy of life, 2) a framework a person brings to decision-making and 3) a filter or lens which a person uses to interpret life and the world around them” (p. 51) 1. The Question of Origin (How did life begin? / How did mankind come into existence?) – God is the almighty and holds the most power. He created everything from nothing and in only seven days. He made everything what it is, including human life (Genesis 1:1). Moses claimed God to be the “first cause” (2Peter 1:21). 2. The Question of Identity (What does it mean to be human? / Are humans more important than animals?) – In Christianity, God created mankind to be put above the animals (Psalm 8:5). Both males and females were made to raise and take care of the animals (Genesis 2:15). Animals were not made for us to devote all of our time to, but to we are in charge to take care and watch over. “Christians should be leading the charge as environmentalists and animals rights activists while reaping the benefits of the earth for its natural resources and animals for food” (L. Weider & B. Gutierrez. 2012. Consider. Page 58) 3. The Question of Meaning/Purpose...

A worldview can also relate to our interpretation of life. II. Part Two: 1. The Question of Origin – God created Earth and all its inhabitants including animals, plants, and humans (Genesis 1:24). ...Part One: What is a worldview? To me, my definition of my own worldview is simple; it is what I can see around me and what I believe to be true. I can see the stars, therefore I know they are there, but in contrast just because I cannot see God, does not mean that I don’t believe in him. Part Two: The question of origin – The question of origin is basically where we come from. The Christian worldview is that in 6 days God created everything, the land, the sea, the animals, the sun and the stars. We also learn in Genesis 1:26 that God desired to create man in his own image so that he could rule over everything on the earth. Also within the question of origin we learn that God created man and women in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) The question of identity – In my view of Identity I believe that my true identity is that I am a sinner. I am a sinner who cannot inherit God’s kingdom until I repent my sins and accept him as my Lord and Savior (Romans 5:8). I also believe that my identity is that God created man into his own likeness and allowed us to take command and rule over everything on earth (Genesis 1:27-30) as God has allowed us to use the cattle and the fowl as well as grain to feed and clothe ourselves. This example is one that allows us to recognize God’s greatness as well as his plans for us. The question of meaning/purpose – What is our purpose? Why are we here? We are here for several reasons, though primarily we are here and we were created to...
