OSHA is an acronym for a government run organization called, Occupational Safety and Health Administration. OSHA does its best to ensure a safe working environment for the workers of all hospitals by providing training, education, and assistance to any who needs help. Its only purpose to assist the workers in that environment so they don't get injured. It also isn't only for jobs in the medical field, it even has regulations even for construction. OSHA is part of United States Department of Labor, also the administrator for OSHA is none other than the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational and Safety Health, so you know it is in good hands. Lock-out/Tag-out is an equipment safety procedure that is used in settings where dangerous, or large equipment/machinery is used. It makes sure, that dangerous machinery or equipment is properly shut off and not able to be started up again before the completion of maintenance or service work. It requires that all hazardous energy areas be isolated and made non-usable before work is started on the equipment. The separate power sources are then locked, and a tag is placed on the lock telling the worker who has placed it on the machine or equipment. The worker then keeps the key for the lock making sure that only he or she can remove the lock and start the device. This …show more content…

The purpose of PPE is to prevent exposure to hazardous chemicals or items during your job to ensure your safety. PPE is very much ensured in the medical field, where you are constantly being exposed to different bacteria's, sick patients, or chemicals.
