Exercise 2C – Talking about the Writing Process
Rubric: A part of a manuscript or book, such as a title or a heading that is distinguished from the rest of the text.
Subject-verb agreement: The subject and verb must agree in number. This means both need to be singular or both need to be plural.
Freewriting: A prewriting technique in which a person writes continuously for a set period of time without regard to spelling, grammar, or topic. It produces raw, often unusable material, but helps writers overcome blocks of apathy and self-criticism.
Heuristics: helping to learn; guiding in discovery or investigation.

Exercise 2E – Reflecting on Writing

When it comes to starting the writing process, I usually take two to three days at most to search for additional resources or finish any assigned readings. I am naturally a slow reader and I prefer taking my time to highlight the important details I would like to discuss or cover in my paper. I then write a short summary for each reference or resource to conclude what points I want to discuss in my paper. Next, I build and write down the structure of the paper I want to write, and what the title and main focus are (thesis statement for example). I consider the latest step to be brainstorming because not only I decide the structure of my essay, but I also do write down any ideas that come to my mind, especially when trying to connect the readings or resources to the essay.
After I am done with collecting resources and brainstorming, I like to get white A4 sheets, an eraser and a mechanical pencil. I usually do not stick to wearing a certain outfit but I do like sitting cross-legged in case if I am home and not wearing shoes. I use the paper to write the paper outline and my laptop for writing the draft. Taking a break (to stretch, drink tea or water, and leaving my desk) every 30 to 40 minutes refreshes my brain and
